The spa is in a business building; not what you would expect, but upon entering his suite; it was cozy and typical of a spa. We opted to both be in the sauna and cold plunge and then individually go in for massages once our sauna session was up. Sauna and adjoining room were clean upon arrival. Cold plunge tub was filled as we spoke (not ice cold, but cold enough for beginners). He reviewed protocol with us and left the room for us. Massages were individual and allowed us to utilize the sauna while the other was getting a massage. He was professional and it was a great massage. Pricing was extremely reasonable and we will be back. We normally go to Fire and Ice in Dedham, but they lack an in room cold plunge, which we really enjoy in combination with the sauna experience. I recommend Ron and his spa; he is passionate about a great experience. We look forward to returning.

Three people came out (of which the space is very small and dark), and they spoke amongst each other to see who would take who and for which service (head hydromassage and body massage - 60 minutes each). I went into my room for a body massage. Bed not warm, and just a cheap sheet on. The message was very VERY rough. messaged over towels (not warmed). I thought I would be getting a rub burn. THEN, later, the oil comes out, and she wore gloves, which were ... bunched-up on her hands, so I felt that. I then turned over, and she basically threw a towel over my eyes (not warm, just a towel!). VERY painful, even when I stated it was too hard, many times. Also, the movements were very VERY fast, and not whole - relaxing. There are a couple of other things that made me very uncomfortable, but I will leave it at that. I almost just stopped the appointment a few times. I prob should have. The hydromassage was .... okay. 60 minutes is WAY too long for that. NOT going back.

Until now I had traveled to Chelsea just to find a decent steam bath. I finally heard about Nordic Oasis in Marblehead, and decided to give it a try. It was an incredible solution to all my needs. I started in their incredible barrel sauna, and was able to work up a great body cleansing sweat in a short period of time. I then went directly to the cold water plunge. They have two units, one set at 55 degrees and the other at 45 degrees. I opted for the 45 degree plunge, and immediately felt the healing power of the cold water. It was clean, private, and incredibly soothing. I followed the cold water plunge with the unique solar blankets that Nordic Oasis provides. It was 45 minutes of peaceful meditation under the warm soothing blanket. When I was finished I felt like a new man. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable, and the space clean an well organized. I recommend it highly for anyone looking for hot and cold therapy to ease your aching muscles, and relax your mind.

Sometimes it helps to have the clinician more involved (especially when she saw my struggles), or give better and clear counsel regarding what to do if there isn't evidence of ample release. After the session was complete, then she gave instruction on what to do "next time". I feel like this negatively affected my experience. That's too bad...I was so hopeful. I'll have to continue my search for a facility but I appreciate that she was kind. The facility was clean. Too bad she didn't give this guidance while I was in the session.
