Excellent restaurant with great ambience close to the Fraser River . Exquisite culinary and outstanding service offered by Ivan, very professional, elegant and courteous with great sense of impecable customer service , Ivan went the extra mile with his suggestions and great conversation. Portions are affordable and very generous . We will definitely go back again .

Cheddar Burger with Garlic Mash

The food was quite tasty and I felt the portion sizes were very generous. I had the Cheddar Burger and it was cooked to perfection. The garlic Mash potatoes were especially good. The Seafood Fettuccine was also good but a bit too spicy for my tastes. I didn't try the tenderloin but I was told it was a good steak as well. Our server was very friendly and I was nice to chat with him. The service itself was quite slow. We ended up having to wait longer than I had expected considering the number of people there for our food and drinks to come. We had ordered dessert but after 10 minutes, we cancelled the order as we felt it was a bit ridiculous. We were told it was delayed due to a large party also ordering deserts. I feel our waiter could have asked us our deserts ahead of time to help avoid this, but they're not to blame for it otherwise. The restaurant itself has a wonderful view of the river with several tables right next to the window. The booths inside the restaurant are elevated allowing those patrons to also enjoy the view nearly unobstructed. The pricing was quite high, similar to what you would pay at Piva. Overall, this place is a good place to go and has a fairly large selection of food. We will come back here in the future but sparingly due to the price.

Eggs benny trio

Came to The Boathouse after meeting a huge lineup and packed house at Angelina's. Eyed up Craft next door, but ultimately decided to go to The Boathouse after having good experiences at the Port Moody location. The restaurant was near empty, yet when the hostess went to seat us, every table in the section was dirty. Service was painfully slow, especially given how empty the restaurant was. Our sever was friendly, but didn't really seem to understand the concept of how to be a good, efficient server. Brought the menus and left before asking if there were any drinks she could start us with, would have been nice to have the immediate offer of coffee, tea, or water. She then took a considerably long time to come back to take a drink order. At that point we were ready to order everything. We both ordered eggs Benny. I asked for a modification to mine - shrimp and crab instead of back bacon. I said I was fine with an up charge. Server came back nearly five minutes later to say that it was going to be a $7 up charge and asked if that was okay. I again said yes, however realized after the fact that the $7 up charge put the price at the same as the Benny trio which included one of three different types of Bennie's. I found the server and asked if I could amend my order and that was no issue. Would have been nice if the server had of offered suggestions at the time of ordering, but it she was clear she was just in it for the bare minimum required. Coffee took a very long time to come out. Food arrived shortly there after. The portion sizes were shockingly small, everything from amount of sauce to potatoes, in fact the traditional Benny came on what seemed like a side plate. Despite ordering the trio Benny for myself (a larger portion), it came with a noticeably smaller portion of potatoes than the traditional Benny. Both dishes were extremely lacking in flavour. The hollandaise sauce had a very subtle buttery flavour but lacked anything else. The eggs were overcooked, but had rubbery exteriors which implied they had sat under the warmer for too long. The potatoes were really inconsistently cooked, some were still hard inside and some were mushy. Had to ask for hot sauce which came out as a bottle of Tabasco. Server was mostly no where to be seen for the entire dining experience and had to be flagged down for a coffee refill. Ordered a side of toast but received what could best be described as warm bread. Server finally came around when we were almost done our entire meals to ask if we wanted jelly or peanut butter for the bread. Finally refilled water when she brought the bill. The only thing going for this restaurant is the window seating has a nice view of the water. If you decide to try your luck on this location definitely take some good company with you because everything else is overpriced and underwhelming.

Boathouse is part of the Landry Select Group of restaurants. Their food are tasty but nothing like an eye opener. I came here with B. I got the smoked Salmon Hash and B got the Bacon Cheeseburger. B loved the Bacon cheeseburger. My smoke salmon was tasty but there were lots of areas that needed improvement. The first time the chef made it and bought it to my table there were two flaws with the pouched eggs. One was that I asked for soft and it came out over cooked and secondly that it had egg shells in it. The server later replaced it for me. The portion is quite small for this dish and also there was hardly any salmon (2 tiny pieces to be exact and each piece is tinier than half my pinky) in it for $20.49. I don't think the value is there. Also I did find that it had too much hollandaise sauce making the entire dish soupy and drenched in sauce. This resulted the potatoes not having that crispiness that I expected. In terms of B's bacon cheese burger. The fries were very delicious. It definitely had more flavor than my usual go to Boathouse in Kitsilano. We also got the mocha cake. It was very delicious. Not too heavy and it was great for a dessert after our meal. We came here during Covid times. The restaurant was super quiet on a Saturday. I counted and there were only 4 tables including us. We got window seat and that was nice. Decor was nice. In terms of the food, some improvements are required.

I expect better from The Boathouse. It was never crowded when I was there and that spoke volumes. For the price it charges, the quality of food is so-so. Nothing fancy or memorable. I think people come here to celebrate special occasion (but really, I think there are better places but not in New West) or because there are not many choices in the area, especially during night time. During summer and when the weather is clear, it is nice to sit at the patio with a drink. The drinks are better than the food. That is sad for me as I love seafood but this is not a place for it. So drinks it is plus light food.

Solid seafood place near Coquitlam Centre…read more Parking is available in the lot in front of the building. The place looks nice and modern. Comfortable cushy chairs, and wooden trim. Staff are friendly but understaffed. Once the place filled up they were swamped. Signature steamed seafood pot - definitely on the pricey side, but they don't skimp out. Special mention for the presentation. Plenty of goodies including an entire lobster, half a large octopus (tenticle/arm half), snails, oysters, scallops, prawns, and fish balls among others. Basically everything without fish. Served in a large tray (the ones seen at banquet buffets), and everything cooked in broth. This was enough to probably feed 4-5 adults (assuming average appetites). So pretty. Deep fried squid with fries - honestly this dish was meh. Basically exactly what it sounds like. Squid is tempura style. Nothing special. I'd skip this one. Bossam (pork belly wraps) - served with tofu and spicy kimchi and some vegetable (kelp?) as well. They don't really give enough wraps compared to the pork slices. Decent portion size. My friends and I gobbled this up. This place also serves makgeolli (Korean rice wine) for a very reasonable price. Goes well with the food. Overall my friends and I left happy. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point to try some other dishes. Recommended.

Interior was quaint and well decorated. Outside patio was cozy and delightful in the nice weather. I ordered a ling cod and chips, wifey ordered Cajun Prawn and avocado Benny. I also ordered full bowl of clam chowder to try out. The ling cod was fried perfectly , 2pc decent portion size crispy and the meat was moist. I did wish it was seasoned as the meat itself tasted bland but fresh as fish goes. Adding a bit of salt on it before dipping in the tartar sauce helped. The chips nice and crispy, soft interior and seasoned well. The coslaw was lightly dressed, I prefer a bit more dressing but it was still ok. The chowder was creamy and full of seafood. Very tasty and I probably shouldn't have gotten a full bowl as wifey couldn't help much with sharing and I was reaching capacity with the fish and chips. The sour dough bread that came with the chowder was toasted expertly as it was crispy on the exterior and still had a nice soft chew interior which i love. Wifeys Benny i didn't try so cannot attest to its taste but she seemed to enjoy it. I did eat a couple of her home style potatoes and this were crispy and soft in the middle. Very nice. The servers were excellent and very attentive, making sure we were taken care of and checked on us appropriately. Even with how busy they were i could see how they attended to everybody very well. If around the area would definitely go back. Food was pretty good, service great and atmosphere lovely.

And while there are no shortage of seafood restaurants serving fresh crab on the Steveston waterfront, we wanted to give The Crab King a fair shake. I'm so glad that we did! My wife ordered a King Crab for herself which, after tearing it literally limb-from-limb, eventually declared it to be tied for her favorite boiled crab dish anywhere! High praise coming from such a consummate crustacean connoisseur! For myself and our son, an order of fish and chips, and the grilled chicken sandwich rounded out our order, both of which were crispy, tasty and delicious. Regarding the fish and chips, they appeared to be tempura-battered, and I'm still not 100% sure what type of fish it was. It may have been cod, but it seemed more like catfish, but either way, it was tender, juicy, flaky and delicious. No complaints here! More than anything, though, the employees here went out of their way to make our experience enjoyable. Our toddler son, who is normally extremely well-behaved in restaurants, was having a bit of a fuss here and there. Without prompting, the servers brought us a little radio to play music for him, as well as a couple of toys to play with, one of them being a wind-up truck that they gave to him to take home! He loved it there, and still plays with it at home! They even played peek-a-boo with him from behind the counter, soliciting laughs and giggles, for the better part of 15 minutes! That sort of customer service is nearly impossible to find, and should be praised and cherished wherever it is found! Whatever the past may have held for this restaurant, the Crab King is an entirely new animal now, serving up fresh seafood by uncommonly wonderful employees, in a fantastic floating location. They even offer to cook spot prawns and other seafood purchased from the boats docked at the nearby waterfront marketplace, for a modest fee. With all these things going for it, there's no doubt who wears the crown of Crab King in Steveston Harbor!

There is a whole new development with ice cream, bakery, and 3 or 4 eating establishments, all perched overlooking the ocean and the mine museum. We wandered in, and were seated right away, lots of room (it is sort of at the back of the new village area, so you'll pass by 2 or 3 competing options for food first! And it just opened on Thursday - we knew we were lucky! First, the view. The restaurant is perched looking over the highway (or Autostrada in Italian) for an amazing view of the sparkling ocean AND the towering mine museum, freshly renovated and looking good! Plus there are a few mountains scattered around, it IS BC, after all! Second, the fish burger. They have an oyster bar right as you come to the front door, they do seafood towers, it is THAT kind of a place! (On the side of the highway, in deserted little Britannia Beach, I know!). The rockfish was done perfectly, in a burger, and Im no chef, but the sauce gave this the best taste of ANY fish burger EVER. I asked for the side Caesar alongside it - and IT was the best Caesar salad EVER - and I used to make them! Something about the really finely grated cheese and slabs of anchovy filets - and the fries looked good too - but the combination was LIFE CHANGING! (thats why I HAD to write a quick review) Third, the bar. Crazy to serve drinks as you are headed down the highway, isn't it? Almost entrapment! OK, so if you could only have one or two drinks, you'd want them to be GOOD drinks! They have great beer and wine selection, but the bartender mixing the drinks is MADE for Pisco Sours and fine cocktails, crafted right in front of you. He mentioned that he had his OWN version of Pisco Sour - and Im going to highly recommend having a cocktail and looking out at the world with a renewed satisfaction. Third, the patio. No lineup - YET! The word will get out! (Right here) High top tables and chairs AND lowered firetables and couches facing out over the ocean, with umbrellas - classic! And beautiful, well done, interesting - check out the rosewood looking art deco couches, lift the cover on the firetable - here comes fall, it WILL come in handy! You COULD lineup in Squamish for a fast food joint. You COULD be 50 deep at a restaurant in Whistler. OR you could turn off the road in Britannia Beach, explore the new village, find the ice cream shop inside the old church - they hail from Ontario, so they KNOW what they are doing! Autostrada hails from Vancouver, you can find an outlet there too. Add in a great bakery, a stroll to the art gallery on the waterfront, a tour of the mine museum - and you'd better leave early because this is going to be a "secret" favorite stop for years to come!
