Red Snapper Fish and chips
Kelly C.

Overall 4 Stars Ambiance - 4 stars Located in a marina of Port Moody, BC, this quaint restaurant has outdoor and indoor seating. There are more outdoor seating than indoor seating due to wonderful views and breeze. They are dog friendly too however be mindful to other patrons especially when they start barking. Not fun at all when the barking of several dogs can cause a nuisance to other patrons. We stopped by for their Sunday lunch and they weren't too busy. But within 45 minutes they had a line of people. Service - 4.25 stars Our server was pleasant, friendly and attentive. She had a beautiful smile to go with her personality. She answered all our questions. Food: 4.25 Stars Their specialties are Fish and Chips and they did a wonderful job with the dishes. We ordered the following 1. 3 piece Red Snapper w chips 4.5 stars - Normally the plate is served w two but I ordered an extra one so we could share the plate. The Tempura battered evenly coated the fish, light, and it wasn't too thick. Lighter than a beer batter and was perfectly crisp. Now the chips were good, almost really good. 90% of the chips were lightly salted, crispy, and cooked well however some weren't. And the Chips were BOTTOMLESS! As of this writing of course. 2. Bowl of Seafood Chowder - 4 Stars - it was a large bowl of seafood chowder (it had fish, prawns, newt potatoes, red pepper, mussels (without shell), clams, bacon and corn. The fish and prawns were the star of the show however I really couldn't taste the mussels or clams. Definitely couldn't taste the bacon however the chowder was pretty good. It is served with buttered, grilled sourdough. The sourdough had more tang to it and it was a nice compliment to the slightly sweet and cream based sauce. Just add a hint of salt, pepper and tobacco for an extra spicy to it. NOTE: 1. As of July 2025 - During the Summer (weekends and holidays) , you will have to pay for Parking through IMPARK. I paid $10 for two hours. You could do 1 hr @ $5 or more. 2. If you want mussels, oysters or other items, wait until after 3 PM. We arrived @ 11:15 so I was truly disappointed I couldn't order the mussels. Bummer for me. READ the UPPER RIGHT Corner of the Menu so you don't make my mistake. One suggestion for the Float 30 Owner / Manager For us Tourists and maybe locals, it would be AWESOME if you have a new dish that showcase all 3 of the fish (Snapper, Cod, and Trout). Then we can taste the trio of your wonderful fish. Maybe a "limited" time special to see how the patrons respond to it. Who knows, it might become a popular item, especially during Peak season. I know I would Love it!

The first thing I noticed was the sign that said weekends paid parking. The parking is excruciatingly expensive. If you pay via the app it's even more expensive. If you pay at the physical stall it is $5/hour but with fees and tax is it $6.51/hour. I came here with high expectation especially from the number of recommendation. I was quite disappointed. It is good fish and chips but many other places make it just as good. The fries were mediocre. The soup was not good. It was so watery. For $17, that chowder is not worth it. The service was minimal. It was a hot day and they only came once to top up with water. Waitress did not seem particularly fond of her job.

Float30 is located at Reed Point Marina (Port Moody) along Barnet Highway - thank goodness for Google Maps otherwise I wouldnt know when to turn They had plenty of (heated) patio options for sunny days. The food was good, staff were as warm as the sunny weather, and serving was generous (infinite fries, am i right?!?)! The oysters were fresh. The seafood chowder was quite generous! The batter/coating for the fish and chips was not that oily and the batter was not too thick. The smash burger was delicious and you had the option to choose which vegetables you'd like put in your burger (lettuce, tomato, and or pickle; or none at all!). Iced tea was free refills too! Parking is free for restaurant customers and there were plenty of stalls in the marina.

Haida Gwaii Ling Cod & chips 2 pcs $19.95 + $6 for extra fish piece

Looking for some great fish an' chips? Check out Float 30! The location has great parking as well as a slight view. We ordered: Tofino Coast Red Snapper & Chips $16.95 Haida Gwaii Ling Cod & Chips $19.95 + an extra piece of cod $6 Bacon & Cheddar Smash Burger $17.95 The tempura batter on the fish was light, crispy and matched perfectly with the House Tartar Sauce! And how can you go wrong with unlimited fries? I think I've discovered that I'm not a huge fan of Red Snapper but I'm glad I got to try it. If you're in the area and want some fresh local fare, give Float 30 a try!

This hidden gem was a great place to enjoy lunch located in Reed Point Marina with a fabulous view of the Indian Arm. The West Coast Ling Cod & Chips were super crispy and flaky. To top it off, we ordered oysters for only $2 each and paired my meal with a classic double Ceasar. Service was very attentive and not to be forgotten.

Some of the best fish and chips on the lower mainland

The fish was so fresh and cooked to perfection. The batter was crisp, light and NOT thick and stodgy, the chips were authentic chips, skin on, thick cut and really tasty, the only thing missing....mushy peas!!! But with the choice of 5 different kinds of fish and chips, I've got nothing to complain about, the burgers are good too. Service was fast, efficient and super friendly. Ambiance, it's not a huge restaurant but it was spotlessly clean and there's tables outside. I think there was music but it wasn't loud and annoying. I would recommend this eatery to anyone.

ATTENTION: make sure try out this place before it gets hard to make reservations. This is definitely a small hidden gem in port moody. The atmosphere is amazing for a date night and you can enjoy the beautiful ocean view after dinner. Quick note: don't pay for parking go into the restaurant to ask them for parking pass. Today my wife and I order fish and chips, sea food boil and sea food chowder. I usually go to Pajos for fish and chips but this place definitely hit the top . The batter for the fish and chips is thin and not thick which makes you wanted to eat more. The fish is also season perfectly. You know when you eat too much greasy food or McDonald your body wants to shut down or doesn't feel good. This place will NOT give you this type of feeling. It was light and delicious. I feel they nailed it on the coleslaw. Their coleslaw is not overpowering the original veggie flavor and NOT soak in. It was very refreshing. Seafood chowder is amazing. If they have it "frozen pack to go" I would buy it in a heart beat. The only downside was their bread. I find it too greasy and they added too much butter. If I go again next time, I would asked them to have no butter on my bread. Seafood boil was delicious and their homemade Cajun butter sauce was to die for. I felt everything was cook perfectly except one of the fish was a bit overcooked. The texture of that specific white fish was a little bit rubbery. The presentation of the dish were amazing. I would highly recommend this place and come back again!

Boiled prawns with salad

I got the 2 piece halibut fish and chips, and prawns. The prawns were tasteless, however the dipping sauce made the dish. The fish and chips was delicious, and the portion size was bigger then I expected. I also got a red sangria.

This place has an amazing view, but it is not for the cheaper wallet. We ordered the ling cod tempura battered fish and chips. The food was ok, but their seafood chowder was better. The chowder as a bacon and corn taste to the broth, and there were big pieces of shrimp in the soup. The shrimp cocktail is quite nice. If the shrimp were chilled a bit more it would have been perfect. The cocktail sauce had real horse radish in it giving it a kick of spice but not too overpowering.

They also have burgers & all you want fresh cut fries. Not that frozen garbage

A few bites of the halibut tasted a bit off and it was a flat piece of fish that looked like a giant hash brown. Not really a fan. You know the feeling of greasy aftertastes when you consume deep fried food from McDees to KFCs to any even diners, the inflammatory hotness, the inflammation in the roof of the mouth and tongue? Swollen gums? This is usually caused by poor quality ingredients or re-using of rancid oil for deep frying. Result is discomfort and or general unwellness. The reason I bring this up is, after eating at Austin's, I have zero negative aftertastes and zero signs of inflammation. For lunch I ordered the 3 piece wild cod fish and chips. The chips is nothing fancy. In fact slightly over cooked. Some on Yelp says chips is frozen-could well be?!? But the fish....the wild cod... is fantastico. Thinly battered flakey firm fish. Zero unpleasantness, zero inflammation. Which is awesome. The quality really stands out. We'll definitely come back and try the DEEP FRIED CHOCOLATE BAR!!! Yeah how crazy is that?

Restaurant was pretty quiet when we picked up our takeout & is fairly spacious size for dining in restaurant. Lots of table size options & someone with a cane can get in there if the parking curb height isn't an issue. Not sure if there's a dropped curb somewhere else. Also, not sure if the main door would be wide enough for a walker or wheelchair. Staff was friendly b & helped us realize we could order a meal that had both of what we wanted to try. Fish (the choice of cod & halibut meal) were lightly battered, flaky when eating & to me, they were large pieces. We enjoyed both enjoyed them. Fries that came with the meal were nothing special but we really enjoyed the tartar sauce. They included vinegar & ketchup as well as forks and napkins in our takeout bag. Takeout was wrapped in newspaper & fries were included with one of the fish pieces in a cardboard tray. As I haven't enjoyed fish & chips since being out on the coast in Oct, I'm not sure if that's the average pricing now but seemed a bit expensive for 2 pieces of fish (even looking at only ordering one type). Especially since there wasn't any drinks included in the meal price. Overall decent meal & did the trick to fill us up. Was nice to introduce my friend to a new meal option in his neighborhood

COVID #25 This place…read moreneeds a bit of a shout out. The food is actually quite good. I know about this place from the reviews, and of course one of my Yelp stalkers has been here. They know who they is, and I'm not mentioning they name. I gotta get my pronouns right, right? If I'm gonna slag they, I may as not offend they, eh? See my pics. You get a healthy serving that's for sure. If you've been to concession stands at Vancouver Parks Board beaches, you'll recognize something here. The smell. The smell of the fish and chips. It's very similar if not the same. Interior is run of the mill. Don't expect fancy. I'd say it's 70's-80's decor. Pricing, not bad. Tartar sauce tastes like it's Miracle Whip based, but I could be wrong. The batter is very light on the fish and the chicken was very crispy. Server advised it would take 20 mins. This needs some hashtags. #StalkerReview #I'mBeingSarcastic

It was overcooked to the point where it had the texture of plastic. Tough, chewy, not a whisper of seasoning. Another time, I had the salmon (which is mighty pricey, I might add). The salmon wasn't fresh. The mash it came with was, again, completely unseasoned. Not even salt? Come on. What capped it though was a Caesar salad my partner ordered that came absolutely drenched in salad dressing. You couldn't even taste anything else. Just salty, cheesy, soggy stuff. The prices they charge for this are downright criminal. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Edit: Parent company, Landry's, appears to be US-based (Texas). Anyone who is choosing to #BuyCanadian needs to be aware.

The mains were brought back 5 mins later and I was still not done my salad. Said f it, and accepted the mains. Halibut and risotto both were over cooked and tbh, the plate just looked messy with no shuge to it. The seafood medley looked decent albeit the crab cake tasting a touch on the fishy side. Coleslaw was fresh. Onion rings are one of the better onions rings I have tried. It was crispy too and made with the same batter as the fish. Their signature soup was a bit on the saltier side with the bacon. I would have preferred a classic clam chowder over this. Restaurant was clean and tidy. There was a steady flow of customers coming and going. Staff were quick to clear tables for the next customers. Our server was friendly, and efficient. Prices were reasonable for the quality and amount of food we ordered. There is ample free parking on the plaza.
