My wife had the fluffy scrambled eggs, creamy, cheesy, served over toast with bacon and hash browns. This is something she gets often, and she has had none better than the ones here. The service was excellent. It's not the biggest restaurant, but the tables seem to move fairly quickly, and they have outdoor seating on warmer days. I tried the marinated cherry tomatoes, prosciutto, mozzarella, rocket, pesto and smoked almonds on toasted sourdough. I was likewise happy with my selection. I can also report that the coffee was very good. My wife had a Macchiato and said it was quite nice as well. Including the food, drinks and a small tip, the total bill was £36. At £18 per person, this was not cheap but I had no problem with the value. The experience including the food, the service and the vibe all added up to make this worth the cost. If we're in Glasgow again, we'd be happy to do brunch here again.

Glaswegians, your cafes have definitely spoiled me and I can't find anything that compares to this in the U.S. When you walk in, you automatically get this cozy and warm feeling. Try to get a seat in the upstairs dining area, because this is where you will feel the most warmth. I also like sitting in the bar stools by the window because I like looking outside at the rain. If you find yourself waiting for a table, just take that time to browse the pastries, savory foods laid out, and even their selection of cookbooks. Their selection of cake and tarts change daily, but if they have leftovers one day then they serve the leftovers the next day until they are gone, but a lot of the time their pastries sell out on the first day. Bonus to this is that your pastries are definitely fresh! But the pastries still taste good even if they are a day old. Trust me. My go-to pastries were the Belgian Chocolate Cake or the vanilla custard tarts. This cake has hazelnuts inside of it and is served with raspberries, chocolate bits, dusted with sugar on top. If you love chocolate, this cake is the way to go. The vanilla custard tarts reminded me of home (because I would get Egg Tarts at Chinese bakeries and this vanilla custard tart tasted just like a egg tart) The only difference is that the tart at Kember & Jones had flaky layers of crust, which made the tart even better. My go-to drinks are hot chocolate or the Moroccan Fresh Mint Tea. The hot chocolate is served with foam and little chocolate bits on top. The Mint tea is served in a clear glass, but it comes hot (which was weird because I didn't think you would serve hot drinks in a glass) but I understood why because it has a bunch of mint leaves in it that changes the color of the drink to a light tan. It's cute and if you have a sore throat, it will make you feel better. Other things that I have tried and loved were the Warm Waffle (because it was served with syrup and fresh fruit), the French Lemonade (It was pink lemonade with a little bit of sourness), and the macarons (They make different ones each week. Try all of them because they go fast! I have to say during Christmas time their Christmas pudding one tastes pretty good, too.) Last thing to note is that the staff is very nice. I never really feel pushed to leave. They are polite and attentive.

However the most popular order seemed to be the high tea for two, which at £5 per person is amazing! The atmosphere is lovely, with a mix of couple, familes and quite a few grannies being treated to tea and cakes by their grandkids. The decor is nothing fancy, but the setting and welcoming staff easily makes up for it There is fabulous selection of Suki teas and homemade baking. Soups of the day this week were tomato with basil and potato and leek. Last wee I tried the curried butternut squash which was amazing! The setting is lovely and the food is well worth the 15min drive from Dennistoun. There is a garden centre and lovely views onto the loch so you could easily spend a few hours over a coffee, chatting and escaping city life. Afternoon tea is £14.95 pp which is a pretty amazing price compared to some other places in town which are over £20 pp. For this you get: chef's top plate of cakes, homemade Glengoyne whisky macerated sultana & plain scones with clotted cream & jam, chef's selection of sandwiches - smoked salmon & cucumber, roast beef & horseradish mayonnaise, egg & cress, cream cheese and pickle. And tea, obviously. We were seated in the lounge area of Champagne Central which you could easily miss if you didn't venture far enough into the bar. It's super cosy and comfortable, and has lovely couches so it's nice to sit back and relax rather than be perched at the tall chairs in the bar. Initially service was a little patchy but the waitress explained she'd only just started working there, and she was really lovely and helpful. The other waitress who was helping us (Izabella) was great and super helpful with everything we threw at her! I'd forgot to mention that I wanted a gluten free afternoon tea when we'd booked. I mentioned it when we were there, expecting they couldn't do much about it but they went to the furthest ends of the earth to accommodate me and give us updates on how far away our afternoon tea would be. It was probably a 1/2 an hour wait which wasn't too bad seeing as I should have warned them in advance! And a separate plate of peanut-free cakes were delivered for Bex. I've had a gluten free afternoon before elsewhere, and it was dire. Spongy bread and rock-hard scones. So I wasn't sure what to expect here. When the food arrived it looked really good - and I mean, properly good. I got mini rolls rather than sandwiches and these were some of the nicest, freshest rolls I've had (and that includes gluten rolls). The scone was amazing! So fresh, light and fluffy, I actually started to doubt it was gluten free, it was so nice. Served with clotted cream and pots of jam, we were in scone heaven. The cakes were also a great selection and I really enjoyed those too - but for me the highlight was the scone. They even packaged up my second scone for me to take home. All up, this was a really great afternoon tea which is a steal for the price and a really nice atmosphere to sit and relax with the girls for a couple of hours. I'd say it was moderately busy but never noisy as the seats are spread really far apart, so you can even forget you're in a busy bar.

When our food came out, I was a bit put off the way they piled the veggie haggis on top of my sweet french toast, but I ate it first and got on with it. I made my boyfriend try the veggie haggis, and much to my surprise, although he said he'd never actually order it, he didn't hate it. I quite enjoyed it and the massive amount they gave me actually filled me up before I even started on my french toast. The french toast was a massive portion. I'm not really sure what I was expecting, but the slices of toast were really thick and perfectly cooked. The wee pot of syrup that came along could have been a bit bigger, but that's just me being a greedy American wanting my french toast covered in syrup. I would have also loved some powdered sugar (icing sugar as they call it here) and it would have been the best. Needless to say, it was still really great and super filling. I ended up giving a piece to my boyfriend unable to finish the three pieces. The boyfriend quite liked his eggs, beans and toast, but didn't enjoy his coffee one bit. I even tried it- it was very acidic and bitter. I wouldn't have been able to drink it, but my boyfriend drank it like a champ. All in all, our breakfast was delicious and the service was great. While we were waiting for our food, we noticed they have a bunch of Scottish goods for sale, which was great to see. For any of you looking for Suki teas, (I've been on the hunt and have found they're only sold online) they sell a few here. Yay!

I was in for some food but just made a super quick decision when I saw the menu - Eggs Florentine with added spinach. What can I say, I'm a bit addicted to Eggs Benny and all its variations. This place is really nice inside - classier than your average cafe and pretty cosy. The breakfast tea was delicious and service was warm and friendly. I loved the presentation of the eggs - generous with a lovely rocket salad on the side and an added side which I think was a potato scone (I ate it too quickly to remember properly). The only reason I have to dock a star is that the muffins were burnt in parts which I know sometimes happen but my god I hate a burnt muffin. The rest of the dish was just lovely though and I really enjoyed it. Prices are reasonable for the area, and as I said, the staff are really friendly. They don't seem to have a huge deli section (as mentioned in some other reviews) but that wouldn't put me off going back for lunch or breakfast. Also, it looks like they don't have a customer toilet but if you ask the staff, they'll point you behind the counter and past the kitchen down the stairs.
