**WARNING** This is a lengthy review and you WILL be hungry after reading!…read more Just outside Perth and a short detour from the A9 lies Tibbermore (I know, cute right!), a typical 'blink and you'll miss it' kinda place, but really, just don't blink cos this place is awesome! It really does have it all - fresh fruit and vegetables all leafy and colourful, a gin lovers corner, wonderful cheese and meats deli, health foods section including a variety a GF flours, breads and oatcakes (try their own oatcakes, completely different from the brand that sounds like Talkers but sooo much tastier!), tray upon tray of freshly laid eggs...I could go on but you get the idea! And that's just the food section! They also have a glorious gift section where I could've easily spent a small fortune. Everything from kitchen gadgets to picnic baskets, kiddie gifts to Emma Bridgewater pottery and everything in between. I spotted a few local producers too which I loved as I always like to see locals businesses supporting each other. Then there's the café/restaurant which has a few outdoor tables but plenty inside if they're taken; the day I visited it was glorious but somehow we got lucky and got a table outside (my shoulders can prove that #scottishtan!...). The menu has lots of tasty options incorporating as much of their own produce as possible - I opted for the Homemade Chicken Liver pate while my parents both had the Smoked Ayrshire Ham & Gloagburn Curried Banana Chutney sandwich (Dad went hunting for the ham to buy later he was that impressed!). Once decided, we had to go inside and order at the counter; I'm not sure if this was due to us sitting outside or standard practise as when we asked for a second round of coffees (and some more oatcakes for me as I'd ran out!), a waitress came over with one of those electronic hand-held thingys to take that order so I wondered why she couldn't have done that initially, anyway, not really a star-affecting issue. Pricewise, we were just shy of £10/head for a sandwich and coffee (exc our 2nd coffee round), a tad steep but it's all fresh and local produce so I don't mind paying that when you know you're getting good quality (and it really was!). Given it's out-the-way location it's a busy wee place but worth the trip as you could easily spend a couple of hours here eating and browsing. There's plenty parking available and even a small play area for kids. Farm Shops like this don't come around too often, which is a shame as they really are wee gems of places!

I popped in for a cuppa and some cake while ferrying pupils around on a Duke of Edinburgh expedition. Hey, they're the ones doing the hiking, not me! It happened to be on one of the corners I go past regularly so I thought I'd treat myself. The decor around the place is humorous and makes you feel welcome the moment you spot it. I'm pretty sure it's family-run (a couple and their daughter) and the cakes are certainly home-baked. They're not the neatest and tidiest creations, but they're huge and very tasty. Genuine home baking and all the more charming for the fact that they're not perfect in appearance. They do meals as well - full breakfast , etc. - but I didn't have long so settles on a cup of tea and a very generous slice of raspberry sponge (topped with real raspberries - lots of them). Even with my vast gut and ability to devour confectionery, I struggled to finish it! I spied two women opposite who'd gone for some kind of meringue creation - the top and bottom meringues were separated by around 8" of filling. The scones are the size of two fists. My cake and cuppa was £5.30 which, to me, isn't cheap. But I'd still go back. Given that it's probably the best food within a reasonable drive or a hell of a walk *and* it's got everything else going for it, it's not that bad.

Very charming and an incredibly kind staff. Honestly the best scones I've ever had. Definitely a…read morehidden gem I will visit when I return to Scotland!

I've been going on about wanting to visit Wallace Well Farm for ages now and purely due to time…read moreconstraints we've never made it. Today hubby and I had a rare baby free afternoon and decided to go on a lunch date. "Where do you want to go?" "Wallace Well Farm!" It was 1pm and the place was fairly busy but it's so large we found a nice quiet table in the back. The menu is massive and after much to-ing and fro-ing I went for the Sweet Potato and Mozarella Burger with a side of deep fried jalepenos. It is famed for its carvery but we decided to leave it for another day. Both my choices were really nice. The burger didn't come with any salad or sauce which I found slightly strange but I improvised with my side salad and sour cream from my side. The service was really quick too. No faffing around here. We were in and out within the hour. We decided we couldn't visit without getting some cake to go. Who could walk past that cake cabinet without being at least tempted? Hubby and I love a cheesecake so we both opted for the toffee cheesecake. We thought about taking two different types and sharing but this one just looked so good we couldn't see past it. I've managed to eat a couple of mouthfuls so far so I can vouch for it being yummy. The takeaway box comes with a use by day which is handy because it'll take me until Tuesday to finish it! Wallace Well Farm was worth the wait and we have both agreed not to leave it so long next time.

Total mayhem Go in wait to be seated .... You will either be pointed to a location with a "there's a table up there" or you will be sent to the adult wait to be seated section to again wait on a team member to come along and randomly point to an area The food at the carvery is ok, the fish was terrible but the t bone steak is brilliant The customer service really lets this place down You sit at your randomly pointed at table if you can find it .... Then you order your meal at the bar .... Always a lengthy line up.... You order and then you go sit .... You don't ever interact with anyone again unless You want dessert ..... You have to again go line up at a different till this time Either it's not manned or it is, it's a 50/50 if you are lucky enough to not be in a huge line but there isn't anyone at the till, don't expect the many team walking past or on the other tills/bar to even acknowledge you are there, go find the person for the till or even man the till themselves Now their desserts are cheap and huge so out of 8 visits i always wanted dessert .... I only got dessert half the time as I usually give up due to the line, service or just because I don't understand why it takes so long to hand over a pre packed cheese cake me from a fridge (they call that cakeaway which isn't working as i rarely waste my time waiting)
