Nice little cafe in Forthside. Great bacon rolls and Tetley tea bags. I like my tea. Nice staff too.

Cafe 33 - Choc easter cake and chai latte

Café 33 it is then! I wandered in to chalkboards, quirky signs and LOTS of Christmas decorations. ('Tis the season to be jolly and all!) It's eclectic and quirky! - Maybe a little bit much for some but I really loved the vibe. To me it felt very much like an old style cafe where you could sit and wile away the hours over a tea and cake. And there's lots of cake! Including gluten free options! They all looked delicious! The boards boast their gluten free meals and they aim to offer low-fat dishes where possible! I'm not sure if it's somewhere I'd head for an evening meal but as it got closer to 5, Café 33 showed no sign of getting quieter. It was bustling! And service was fast and friendly despite this. Whilst the cakes were tempting, I opted for my usual. (Chai latte, if you're asking!) I find that larger coffee chains can be a little too generous with the syrup and make theirs sickly sweet but Café 33's was a perfect mix of frothy milk, lovely chai tea and a generous dusting of cinnamon. Just the right amount of sweetness! So much so that I had a second! I'm sure I'll be back soon for my third!

It was agonising to have to make a choice!!! If I lived in Bridge of Allan I would make a point of visiting this cafe every week to try a bit of everything! There are savoury snacks and light lunches available too of course. I embarrassed myself hugely by knocking my full latte over the table and floor - what a mess!! The owner came over and quickly cleaned the table and floor before bringing me another latte - which she didn't add to the bill. Needless to say I was very apologetic and grateful. Definitely a lovely little cafe - and I can't recommend those wonderful cakes highly enough!!!

HOLD ON A SECOND. - There's been a mistake. This is not small. But yes! Yes, it is. Such is the portion control at the Allanwater cafe. I couldn't finish my small fish supper. If you can finish medium, I commend you. Huge portions, great value and the efficient staff worked through the out-the-door queue with great ease! If you want fish and chips in Stirling, this is the place for it. - Most definitely!

It's a large portion, you get half a slice of a black pudding sausage, a full sausage (deep fried ), large pork slices which I believe was supposed to be bacon, and a fried egg and beans over a slice of bread. The local I was with wasn't too impressed but as this is my review, I think it was fine. We also came for dinner- ordered carry out fish and chips. I had high expectations for this place based on local reviews and experiences. I'm not quite sure what went wrong- it may have been the 10-15 min ride home that made the batter/fish soggy but overall I wasn't too impressed. The batter was bland and it was a bit alarming to watch how much vinegar and salt was added to the dish before it was served. The slab of fish was huge, however and you can easily feed 2 with the medium portion. Maybe the fish would have been better if I ate it right away. In any case, this place still gets 4 stars, weighted more for the breakfast.

Still a pretty new looking place that's bright, modern and very clean, with the weather being cold and raining outside I needed a hot drink to warm me up. I sat near the back area of the cafe where I could see a log burner on display, not sure if this was an ornament but could have done with being lit. I chose the large latte with a slice of the fruit loaf, service was quick but the young server placed my order at the opposite end of the table than in front of me, with the knife being placed blade towards me, I've been in the hospitality trade for over 25 years and this is the first time that I've seen this. In the time I was there that was a whole twenty minutes I was asked for my order twice even though I already placed it at the bar, the confusion was that the servers where not assigned a particular section and clearly didn't know what they where doing. The table of two next to me had the same problem. The atmosphere was 4/5 Food & drinks 4/5 Service was a disappointing 0/5

The space is nice - there's lots of room and although it got a lot busier quite quickly after we went in, there was nobody sitting really close to us and it didn't feel crowded. As an aside, I don't often comment on the toilets but I was actually really impressed with the toilets here, they were lovely and I liked the little notice board in the ladies' with local notices on it. The breakfast menu has a great selection, with everything from a full breakfast to pancakes to French toast to eggs benedict to simpler options. And it's really reasonable - french toast with bacon and maple syrup would only set you back £4.50, the full breakfast is under £8. I went for the eggs benedict with crispy bacon, Him Indoors went for the full breakfast. Both were good - not knockout fantastic (one day I'm going to write a book about my hunt for the best eggs benedict in Scotland), but really good and, considering the prices, seriously good value for money. We sat and had a second round of coffees afterwards (the coffee was lovely) and with breakfast and two drinks each for three people it came to around £35. The staff were super friendly, really chatty and the whole atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I'd like to go back to try their evening food as well to see how that compares, but I would definitely recommend it for a good breakfast at a great price.
