Great location in central Stirling. My favorite restaurant on a recent trip to visit my daughter. In fact, we liked it so much we went on back-to-back evenings. My daughter very much liked the ravioli appetizer. On the second evening, we both had the bacon steak burger. The wait staff on both occasions were friendly and attentive. One of the best meals we have had in Scotland. I had the Cullen Skink soup which was absolutely delicious. My main dish was the special which was a halibut dish with mushrooms, greens, and mashed potatoes with a dill cream sauce. Just a fabulous meal and the staff were wonderful. Beautiful quaint restaurant in the Sterling city center. Managed to get a table and was splendidly surprised by the ambiance and quality of food. Well cooked and flavored perfectly for the blend of mains and sides. My wife got the lamb roast and I got the 23 day dry aged rib eye. The rib eye (cooked perfectly medium rare) was served with flavorful greens (mix of peas, zucchini, carrots, broccoli and shallots) and a side salad that was perfectly sauced. We were greeted by the sweetest waitress on our pit stop in this quant town. The restaurant was so accommodating to our food requests and while it took a bit of time to get our dishes, they were delish. Great welcome by the staff! There was a slight miscommunication with the orders but everything was cooked to perfection. 5 stars as the food was absolutely delicious! The Cullen Skink, a must have whilst visiting Edinburgh! A little salty for my liking, however, the taste of the dish itself is the best out of all the Cullen Skinks I've tasted. We had just visited Stirling Castle and were looking for somewhere good to eat on a rainy afternoon. We were so over pub food, and Brea did not disappoint. We were unaware of its high rating when we entered. It was on the early side, so we were seated quickly, but it soon filled up. The staff were wonderful, and the food was amazing. I arrived here to try Haggis for the first time. I was super happy. The service was very fast, with someone coming to seat me almost instantly! On top of this, the ambiance is great, with a very nice chandelier in the center. Finally, the food. The first Haggis I have ever had. What a wonderful experience! The staff is welcoming. The food was delicious. We had a party of six. Tried the salmon special, the rolled haddock, and the ribeye. The traditional Scottish food was a home run. Our waitress, Finola, was excellent. She made you feel very comfortable even with all our questions. Five stars for a fantastic experience. We were turned away 45 minutes before they closed (on a rainy evening when not much else was open, no less) because "the chef was having a slow night" even though 5 tables were full of people enjoying their meals. Not sure if that's code for something, but we left hungry and disappointed. Returned the next day, ordered the prawn starter special and a burger to split, the former was delicious and had bread to dip in the yummy sauce. The burger was good but really nothing to write home about. Not sure why all the reviews freak out over it. For £16 it wasn't really that worth it. The server was funny and attentive, and he gave us some great laughs. Plus, the ambience is nice. Excellent food and service in a quaint bistro. I had the Scottish cheese plate, which I would order all over again. My husband had the crab bundle, a scoop of crab salad, not too much mayo and just the right amount of seasoning to bring out the flavor of sweet crab. read more

Note: Versatile ambiance with plenty of 2-4 person seating in a trendy gastropub setting. Came in for a late lunch because of a few of the pictures I saw, specifically the felafel burger. Unfortunately that is no longer on the menu, but there were a few other ok veg options. Wound up having basically a brie burger which was the first time I have had brie on a bun like that. It was like a fancier grilled cheese crossed with a burger. It was not the healthiest but hit the spot for a nice carby lunch. The beer and whiskey selections were plenty to appeal to all appetites. Prices reasonable for portions. The ambiance is versatile. The decor was simple and charming, with a nice mix of the rustic/industrial mixed with modern. Would be ideal for a date, or casual enough for a friendly get together or business lunch. The waitress was as nice as could be. I wish I could remember her name to give her a shoutout. She was very informative and gave some great recommendations on what to do and see in the city. Def a great stop in the heart of downtown Stirling. read more

Ah, it breaks my heart to take away a star but the last time I was in Brea, my burger wasn't great, verging on the under-cooked side of pink and juicy. Juices everywhere and impossible to eat near the middle since it was practically raw. Not the same burger that entranced me before! My hope is that it was an off night. Sorry, Brea! read more

It really does have it all - fresh fruit and vegetables all leafy and colourful, a gin lovers corner, wonderful cheese and meats deli, health foods section including a variety a GF flours, breads and oatcakes (try their own oatcakes, completely different from the brand that sounds like Talkers but sooo much tastier!), tray upon tray of freshly laid eggs...I could go on but you get the idea! And that's just the food section! They also have a glorious gift section where I could've easily spent a small fortune. Everything from kitchen gadgets to picnic baskets, kiddie gifts to Emma Bridgewater pottery and everything in between. I spotted a few local producers too which I loved as I always like to see locals businesses supporting each other. Then there's the café/restaurant which has a few outdoor tables but plenty inside if they're taken; the day I visited it was glorious but somehow we got lucky and got a table outside (my shoulders can prove that #scottishtan!...). The menu has lots of tasty options incorporating as much of their own produce as possible - I opted for the Homemade Chicken Liver pate while my parents both had the Smoked Ayrshire Ham & Gloagburn Curried Banana Chutney sandwich (Dad went hunting for the ham to buy later he was that impressed!). Everything was pretty good although a tad salty for our palate. Haggis is an acquired taste though and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. We celebrated one of our gang's birthday by ordering sticky toffee pudding and some other desserts to share. To our surprise the restaurant waived the cost of the sticky toffee pudding which was the most expensive dessert we had. That simple thought made a great impression for us as we were totally not expecting it and the server didn't even tell us until we told them they made a mistake by not charging us.

My wife had the chocolate cremeux that she really loved. Our server was such a friendly person and her way of communicating definitely added good feelings to our experience. It was graduation time for the University of Glasgow and we saw many families with their students. For me, that's a really good sign. I highly recommend this restaurant.

GPS drops you off about two doors before the actual location so continue to walk around the bend. The restaurant sits on the corner with a beautiful window view. There are a good amount of tables for the size of the space and seating you can sit to chat or as a single that looks out the window. There is a men and women's bathroom, and inside the women's restroom is a changing station for babies. The staff was very welcoming and kind, the service was fast, and the food was fresh and delicious! What an amazing find and pick. I ordered a latte, and my husband got a cappuccino. We both ordered the same breakfast which was an omelet with goat cheese and spinach. The omelet came with a small green salad, and we ordered a side of toast to split. It was the perfect amount of food. The toast taste so much better than the states. It came with a side of butter and red jam. Maybe raspberry? Whatever it was, we loved it! The goat cheese was smooth and creamy and the greens were refreshing and just plain fresh. Everything tasted better than what you would normally imagine. Breakfast isn't my favorite meal of the day, but the day we dined here it was! The location is only about a ten minutes drive from the castle. If you are in the area, I highly recommend coming here, and if we ever go back to Scotland and are close we will definitely go back as well. I wish I could pick this place up and bring it home with me.
