They even provided us with a list of the restaurants and things to do in town. The view from the balcony outside our room was chef's kiss! The bed was comfortable, the tv had Roku, and it was fun to play around with the colors of the flames in the "fireplace." The room was a bit small, but that didn't matter so much, since this is a bed and breakfast stay. The breakfast was delicious and filling. Breakfast entrees change every day, and on our day we had a hearty, flavorful bacon quiche. They did offer other options, like spinach quiche, or a gluten free breakfast (I think it was an omelette that day), which is very considerate. We also were given a fruit and yogurt bowl, and what I think was chocolate chip pound cake. Coffee was continuously poured into our cups. I would definitely stay here again if I were to return to Coupeville!

The hot springs are my favorite part and the main reason I came back. My friends and I booked a private soak ($150 for 1.5 hours), which was well worth it. If you stay overnight, you can also do a group soak for $20. The hot springs are clothing optional, and during the group soak most people were nude. It was a bit crowded, but still fun and a memorable experience -- especially if you're open to something new. The room itself was a little cold, but thankfully it had a wood-fired stove (and one of us actually knew how to use it). Beds were comfy, and the bathrooms are a short walk away since they aren't in the rooms. Overall, such a special place -- I'd definitely come back again.

Val gave us a full tour of their gorgeous brand new stables, and introduced us to all the horses. We didn't have time for a riding lesson on this trip, but now we know to set some time aside and will be scheduling a lesson for next time. We had booked their least expensive room, but on our arrival Henri informed us that we'd been upgraded to our own private cottage at no additional charge. The cottage has an open floor plan, like a studio apartment, and came equipped with a full size fridge and gas stove/oven. The kitchen cabinets were well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, and even essentials like olive oil, so you could easily prepare your own meal (but I definitely recommend Nicole's!). The living room contained a really lovely chess set and a few other games, as well as DirectTV and a stereo. We had our own private hot tub out on the front porch. We really enjoyed sitting outside and looking out at the pond. The whole environment is so serene. The only sounds are crickets and birds. The main thing that really sold it for us was the amazing hospitality - we felt like family. We were only here for one night, but absolutely fell in love with the place and are sure to return. I went ahead and reserved a room knowing it was a no frills micro room, so my expectations were very low. Well it was a small room, but had everything we needed, it was comfortable and IMMACULATE!! I literally could not believe how spotless this room was!! So if you are looking for an affordable option for a stay in Friday Harbor, do not hesitate to stay at the Orca Inn, I promise there is zero ick factor, trust me, I get creeped out pretty easily at most budget friendly hotels. Not Orca Inn, whoever their crew is that takes care of the Orca Inn deserve a medal and a raise!!

I wanted her to relax and recharge. She loved it. The pros: no traffic noise or other patrons. Lots of wildlife and even 2 friendly goats Hot tub, wood stove, king size bed, pull out spare bed, cooler size fridge, pool table, close to town and ferry The cons: jets don't really work on hot tub. He was planning to have someone out to repair the temp dial- not sure if this will affect the jets. It's an older tub. Still gets hot though! Pull out bed was unusable. He made it up nicely, even with a chocolate on the pillow. The frame is just too worn. I paid for the pullout but ended up sharing the other bed for the sake of my back Conflict- the room is non smoking but when I asked he clarified that my mom could smoke outside if she didn't leave her butts around. She threw them away inside as there was no outside trash and after leaving I received an email mentioning the smell from the trash. Not sure what else she should have done here? Also keep in mind his punctuality. We agreed to breakfast at 9:30 and mom went up at 9:33. She tells me he seemed agitated that she was late. We would have skipped the continental breakfast entirely except there is no in room coffee maker. He did lay out a nice variety for us for breakfast foods. In the email about the smoke smell he also implied that I underpaid. This was frustrating since he seemed fine when we were there. I checked my receipt and had paid what he asked (125/night+$10/night for pullout). I paid $276 to include tax as he asked. From his email I now gather that the tax was $26. He said he hadn't counted my cash but my receipt reflects the total amount so that isn't the issue. I'm disapointed to end the trip on this note after enjoying ourselves so much over the weekend. Renting here is like paying to rent a friend's room. Lots of rustic charm and great view, just seems to struggle with straddling the professional/friendly line. I appreciate him opening his home. I don't expect to return after the conflicts.
