I slept soooooo well for each of my 3 nights here! It was also very clean, which checked my biggest boxes for accommodations. The location was convenient and within walking distance of everything you'd want to see in La Conner. I've never been to a B&B and had an idealized Hallmark image of owners who want nothing more than learn about me, cook custom dishes, and create a community. While that wasn't the case, I had everything I needed and rooms were well appointed. I likely won't stay here again because I love leftovers so like having a fridge, but I'd definitely recommend it to others! read more

Visiting La Conner for the Tulip Festival and the Wild Iris Inn was perfect! Location is less than 10 minutes to the tulip fields and staying in the heart of La Conner meant we could walk to all the restaurants and shops. My partner and I came here from whatcom county to enjoy a couple days in La Connor. It's about 1/2 mile from most places needed. Space was clean, staff wasn't just friendly but real. Polite and normal I guess is the best way to put it. Breakfast was better than expected and plenty of food. You don't feel like you're at an Inn, feels homey. read more

The Inn is very pretty, clean and in a quiet setting. Whitney was wonderful and very helpful. Our room was clean and the access to the outdoor patio and jacuzzi was a bonus. Breakfast was freshly made and hot. I think the bed in our room may be ready for an upgrade and I only mention that because how else will they know? Just got back from our third stay at the Wild Iris Inn. The inn is beautifully kept up, the rooms are spacious, the beds are comfy, and everything just feels cozy. Breakfast includes fruit, all sorts of yummy breads made fresh daily, cereal, eggs, coffee, orange juice, and the breakfast special which today was Eggs Benedict. It is such a treat to be able to have breakfast in their dining area without any wait. The Inn is located within a few blocks from the waterfront of LaConner. We often walk from the inn to the stores and the restaurants. The couple that manage the Wild Iris is Karl and Tess. Karl has been wonderful at recommending restaurants and activities. Tess is the chef and baker of the complimentary breakfast. They are both very welcoming and it is nice to know our business is appreciated. read more

Great little Inn for a weekend getaway to this quaint little town, LaConner. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Upon arrival, we were quickly greeted by a very welcoming staff member. We had reserved one of the King bed suites. Once we received our key we quickly found our room on the 2nd floor with our room overlooking the back side of the inn. There was a small porch to sit out and watch the sun rise. Every morning, there was breakfast served with a set menu that changed daily. While they had an alternative to the main dish, they didn't have vegan options each day of our stay. There was a buffet of fresh fruits, freshly baked goods (the banana bread was amazing), yogurt and granola. But with someone who cannot have eggs or dairy, it made it difficult to enjoy much. The Inn was very cozy and quiet. There is a seating area near the front desk wherein you can help yourself to tea, coffee and hot chocolate and sit by the fire place. They also had a plethora of books and dvds you can borrow to watch in your room. The room was quite spacious with our own fireplace and jacuzzi tub. While we didn't use the tub, the bathroom floor was heated and the walk-in shower was pretty big. Thank you Wild Iris Inn for a wonderful, quiet and relaxing stay. What a magnificent place to stay!! My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Wild Iris Inn for three nights, in the later part of July. Honestly, we can't say enough about our experience. The room was absolutely delightful! We had a huge jetted tub, a cozy fireplace, a lovely deck that we could sit out on, and the bed is a trick bed...you get in it, and it holds you so perfectly, you don't want to get out!! The location of the Inn is absolutely perfect too! Right close to downtown , but far enough away to be quiet and private. Sharon, the Resident Manager was so pleasant, and made us feel like family. Every morning, a beautiful breakfast is included...fresh fruit, banana bread, cinnamon rolls and other delights....and then each morning, a hot entree is also prepared. The food was the quality of a fine restaurant. If you ever find yourself in the La Conner area, do yourself a favor, and stay at the Wild Iris Inn...you won't be disappointed, you will feel like it's the best money you've ever spent. It had been quite a few years since we'd visited the Wild Iris Inn, and while we still found it peaceful and charming, it was definitely showing a lot of signs of wear. The carpet in our room was stained in multiple places. Furniture paint was chipping. Wall mounts in the bathroom were wobbly. We also had issues with our wooden bed frame extending out too far from the bed, so we were constantly hitting our legs. Additionally, while the breakfast was still absolutely delicious, we were lead to believe that breakfast could be delivered to our room, but upon arrival were told they were too understaffed to provide the service. Again, there are still many things to love about this inn, but it just wasn't quite the same as our previous visits. Oh, and if you were looking forward to those incredible cookies upon check-in, they are gone, too (though the fun DVD selection is still available):) Pro Tip: If you haven't been to the Wild Iris Inn in a while, modify your expectations, and you'll probably enjoy your visit more. Pro Tip #2: During the off-season, most shops in downtown La Connor close by 5:00pm. read more

We have been to the Wild Iris many times - probably at least a dozen visits in the last 8-10 years, and twice (this was our third time) since COVID. Overall, we love the Wild Iris, and we'll probably be back again... but a lot has changed, and it's all conspired to make visits a little less magical. First, though, I want to say the location is still wonderful - right in beautiful La Conner, walking distance to fun shops and delicious restaurants, and less than an hour from Anacortes, Whidbey Island, or even Bellingham. The room was cute and comfy as ever, and the in-room fireplace and hot tub in the deluxe king make for a really romantic getaway. Second, before I express disappointment at what's been lost over the past few years, I do recognize COVID has been hard on everyone, especially small businesses in small towns that serve tourists. That's part of why we've come back three times since COVID hit, because we want to support the Wild Iris. We'll come again. But it's harder to recommend as standing out above other Bed & Breakfast spots anymore. Back in the day, you were greeted at check-in by a friendly staff member; this time, we didn't see a single staff member our entire (three day) visit, except when a very nice lady dropped off our breakfast one morning. You used to get a delicious, local cookie at check in; those are gone. Breakfast used to be several courses, with home-made baked goods, served in the dining room, with coffee, juice, and tea. Now, the breakfast is brought to your room, and although it's filling, the parfaits and baked goods are missed (we got a small slice of store-bought breakfast pastry every day, but it's not the same), and the entree isn't what it used to be. To get coffee or tea, you have to go downstairs, which kind of defeats any charm of having breakfast brought to you. I hope these changes can be rolled back, and the old magic can return, as our world pushes back toward normal. read more

My wife and I came here for our 6 year wedding anniversary. We were so lucky to get a room anywhere because the tulips are in peak bloom. We got to the hotel around 5pm no problems checking in and the gentlemen who checked us in was very kind. But a bit vague (will detail this later) We paid for our room and grabbed some complimentary tea and a dvd from the lobby. We stayed in a King Deluxe Room on the second floor. 206. There is a jetted tub in the room, a private balcony and a fairly large shower with complimentary soaps, shampoos and make up remover. There is also a gas fireplace in the room which nice for a romantic evening. Breakfast was good but small. The bed and pillows were too firm for our taste. Overall the room was nice but not worth the $240 that we paid which is why I can't give 5 stars. Ways to add value: - Add a way for guests to make coffee in their room. It kinda sucks waking up in the morning and being forced to get ready for the day if you want coffee. Which is only available in the morning and only in the lobby. - Give clear instructions about how breakfast is working. All we were told was that breakfast would be delivered to our room. We found a pre-covid sign in our room about breakfast but it was also unclear about the time saying it would be served between 8 and 9:30. Its hard to plan your day when you dont have this info. I tried calling the front desk 4 times once I found their number to no avail. -Which brings up the next point. Have a clear way for guests to get a hold of you. There is an old phone in the room but there are no phone numbers anywhere. - Give each guest a way to plug things in on their night stand. One night stand had a clock with plugs but the other nothing. In todays world everyone needs a place to charge their phone. - I know this may not be feasible but it would be nice to have a way to cool down the room other than an open window and a fan. - And lastly and this may just be a personal taste thing. It would be great to have a thicker removable pillow top for the mattress. The bed was way to firm and we hardly slept. That way those guests that don't like it can remove it or request it be removed. read more

Cliff's Notes review: Been going to the Wild Iris for quite some time (all under previous owner). Bottom line, won't be back. New (4-5yrs ago?) owners were not welcoming, did not help me with a heating problem in our room, treated more like a motel guest, not the least bit friendly. Property looking a little tired, large stains on the rug leading to rooms, etc. Room IS nice (except for the constant 74deg temp). We've stayed at more than a few B and B's and have a good idea of what B and B hospitality looks like. Breakfast is far below previous standard, comparable to the complimentary breakfast at medium priced motel. Kitchen staff was friendly and engaging! btw, I write both complimentary and critical Yelp reviews, when warranted. Not a big poster, prob my 5th review, so I'm not "that guy." There's got to be better places to hang out in such a fabulous town. read more

This is a small boutique style hotel. The rooms were clean but old and dated, They were very small and too warm to sleep well, though the bed was comfortable. Staff is a little too rigid with their rules, making us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. This is not a $200 room! Every detail has been carefully executed to maximize the comfort of stay for guests. My husband and I spent four nights at the Inn and have every intention of returning. The owner is highly committed to the utmost in professionalism and hospitality, which comes through in her demeanor as well as that of her employees. Breakfast was new and delicious every day, from the house made granola and breads to the warm option. There was always plenty of lemon ice water and tea in the lobby, a comfortable sitting area, lots of movies to choose, and everything just feels comfortable and welcoming. In our room we had a hot tub and fireplace, in floor heating, ample lighting, and the most comfortable mattress we've ever slept on outside of our own home. I cannot recommend this place enough - if you're looking, look no further, take the leap and give this place a shot. read more

Nice place. Rooms have been remodelled and are really nice. Front desk staff very friendly. Their breakfast was very good. Amazing homemade cookies upon arrival! Overall a cute, convenient B&B if you are visiting La Conner. My only reason for 3 stars (vs 4 or 5) is that they (apparently) did not check our room's dresser upon check-out. We left clothing (including a vintage tee-shirt I can't replace) and a full bottle of Crown Royal (that was to be a gift for our friends at our next destination). We discovered our forgetfulness at our next destination and immediately called the hotel to check their lost and found. No luck. Nothing. They said the maids didn't check the drawers and the people who checked in after us must have taken it.... hmmmmmm..... Definitely our mistake in leaving things behind, but if they had checked our room, we could have come back anytime that day and retrieved our stuff. We were in La Conner the whole day! read more

First off, I feel that this place did a great job on their protocols during covid. Secondly, their website does say buffet breakfast, but during this time, it's a sit down breakfast. Make sure you have your room key with you and don't be late for your time or NO food. Ty, the manager, was super sweet and made sure everyone is happy. On our 2nd night she moved us to a king suite with a jacuzzi (unfortunately did not use) and brought us cookies. You normally get cookies on the night you arrive. If I could give 0 stars I would. Worst experience at a hotel ever. I booked my room through Airbnb. Upon my arrival at the Wild Iris Inn, I was told I had no reservation. The receptionist said she was new, and did her best to find my reservation with no success. She called a manager and some guy came, who was extremely rude and combative. He was insulting and completely dismissive, to the point where after he stormed away the receptionist apologized for his behavior. So I got Air BnB on the phone who said the reservation host at Wild Iris Inn was a woman named Tess. I requested to speak with Tess and explained the situation to her while I had Air BnB on speaker phone, but Tess refused to speak with them and closed the door to her office. Air Bnb heard the whole interaction and told me to tell Tess that they were trying to call her on her direct line and had emailed her also to try to rectify the situation. She yelled through the door that she had no emails or calls from them, yet also refused to come speak with them on my phone. The receptionist then said the phone said it was "in use". It is my understanding (and I'm sure the receptionist as well) at that point that this Tess had taken the phone off the hook so that Air BnB could not get through. I don't know what kind of scam is happening here but hands down WORST experience. DO NOT STAY HERE. read more

My review is pretty split, hence the 3 stars. Here's the good (ish) news: We got the deluxe king suite and it was awesome! The in room jacuzzi tub was worth the extra $$$ and the bed was very comfy. If I were to suggest an improvement, I think a mini fridge would be nice if case you want to bring your own perishable snacks. I had leftovers from dinner and had to store them on the balcony to keep them from going bad. :( Also, having some streaming options (like Netflix or Hulu) on the TV would be a nice amenity. And the bad news: The breakfast was a huge disappointment. I mentioned in my reservation note that my boyfriend and I are vegetarian and all we got were plain eggs (which were kind of cold), a few sad slices of tomato, and buttered toast. The coffee was pretty meh and the self serve options seemed like something you'd see at a continental breakfast at a motel. The website advertised a two course breakfast so this was a huge let down. Overall, I would give the room 4 stars and the breakfast 1.5 stars. read more

We received a gift certificate for this inn and we were excited to try it again. The rooms were beautifully furnished and the staff friendly. I am giving it 3 stars because the hotel seems to lack hot water. We got a deluxe suite with an in room jetted tub, we went to use it after dinner and the water was Luke warm. I called the front desk and she said at full capacity the water heater was being used a lot and wait 30mins. We waited, it was warmer, but not hot. Next morning I went to take a shower, again, warm not hot. Also the breakfast was just scrambled eggs and bacon. I was expecting a slightly more exciting breakfast than that! It is a nice hotel, but I wouldn't splurge on the deluxe suite. read more

I wanted to surprise my husband away for his 40th birthday. With everything going on with Covid our big plans were canceled. I found this place and so happy I did! It was perfect! The employees are so sweet! When we arrived it was a very easy check in, we got our key and went to the cutest room! 105. It was clean, bright and the soft music that was on was nice. We had a yummy treat waiting in the room for us. The cookies are soooo good! We loved the jetted tub and our own private deck. The beds were very comfortable. With Covid going on, we couldn't have breakfast in the dining room. Instead they delivered breakfast to our room about 9:30am. It wasn't anything huge but good for a light breakfast. My husband and I needed a getaway for our babymoon and were looking forward to spending it in the room's jetted hot tub. From the moment I made our reservation, the service at Wild Iris Inn was great, and it continued throughout our stay. The ladies at the front made us feel welcome and were really friendly and helpful. The room was super clean and very nicely updated with new bathroom features, a big comfortable bed, HUGE jacuzzi tub, and private patio - it was perfect for a private, romantic getaway. There were fresh baked cookies waiting for us when we checked in and DVDs available to borrow. They even provided a complimentary breakfast, which was delicious. I didn't even realize that was part of our stay, but it was such a nice touch. We usually book our hotels based on reviews but were desperate for a room with a tub so didn't even pay attention when we booked. Seeing that they are so highly reviewed is not at all surprising.
