After 3 days, housekeeping came in to empty waste baskets but didn't clean.

If you are never in the room, it's workable. Walls are thin. We stayed 4 nights and I had to get fresh towels at the office. Housekeeping never cleaned our room. Once they emptied our over filled small trash cans but didn't clean bathroom or sink/closet. Check in staff are friendly at the office. The highlights.... There is a fabulous bakery across the street, but be aware it's only open Monday-Thursday. 'Top of the Lounge' bar is a cool little bar that serves food (must be 18+).

DO NOT STAY HERE! Please do not risk it. I left a review here 3 weeks ago regarding a bedbug infestation in room 615. From other reviews, this is definitely not the only room infested. We found bedbugs within an hour of being in the room and ended up bagging up all our belongings and sleeping in the car. Bedbugs are notoriously good at hiding and not being seen. The fact that we saw them within an hour of being in the room and before we fell asleep indicates that this is a large infestation, and I believe the Inn has (and is) aware of this. It is irresponsible for this inn to continue to rent out rooms where there is a clear bedbug infestation. This is not an infestation that can be treated one and done, they need to shut these rooms down for months of treatment to get rid of this infestation. Despite my best efforts to prevent any bedbugs from making their way back with me, I have found three since returning home (3 weeks ago). The treatments are estimated to cost at least $1200-$2000 to exterminate these from my home. The one hour I spent at this inn is completely to blame for this cost. Bedbugs are no joke, and this has taken over my life at the moment. Please, save yourself thousands of dollars and stay somewhere else!

    Closed sign at 7pm...

First off, this is located on an island and unfortunately was the only one available via Hotwire. After booking and arriving a reasonable time (7pm), we arrived to the place being closed with no alternative. Literally, no other hotel was open... and considering it takes a ferry to get here you are essentially stranded. Rather than sleeping in our car I attempted to knock on the door after them no answering our phone and the room/booking clearly confirmed from 2-3hrs prior... Luckily the lady answered the door. However the rooms were TINY, picture a closet. The rooms smelled like moldy/mildew and frankly not nice at all. If you can find something else I would writerly recommend it. If they didn't eventually answer we would have been stranded with no where to sleep...

Location is easy to find and they have signs in the parking lot directing you too the office. Is located a 2 minute drive or about 15 minute walk from the main area on Friday Harbor. Is right by the airport and you will hear the planes however we didn't hear any after about 10. Very nice gal checked us in and helped me figure out the machine for hot chocolate, even though she had several people to check in, and did not seem bothered by it at all. The rooms are small yes but I found them put together well to maximize the space and did not see any bugs or dust. Our bed was very wobbly everytime we moved it felt like it was going to fall apart. We could not lean against it to watch TV or it probably would have broken so it was not super comfortable. We got 2 rooms in one the bed cover under the sheet had blood on it however I am pretty sure whomever made the bed may have cut themselves and not noticed. When we went to the office we were offered another room but declined and just had the cover changed. Now for the big bummers. There are so many lights in the parking lot and no curtains just blinds it made the room very bright at night. Combined with people going in and out of the hallway very late and very early talking and letting the door slam, I could not sleep. The heater in the room is loud and did not help either and since the only blanket provided was a thin one we had to keep it up to stay warm. The bathroom light and fan are one switch so I had to choose to either go in the dark or disturb my partner with the noise.

Micro room. Decent bed. Bad pillows.

Courtyard Suites - Studio Suite - sleeps 5

    Courtyard Suites

    (14 reviews)

Our family of 3 stayed in the Studio Suite for 4 nights during the month of July…read more Pros: -Booking was easy online & the owner was easy to deal with. -The suite is advertised, clean with adequate kitchen supplies. I would have preferred a new bar of soap to a large bottle of body wash in the shower, but that may be personal preference. -Location, location, location. We walked everywhere in town except one day; there was a car rental place within walking distance & we were able to explore the rest of the island. There is no denying that the Courtyard Suites have a fantastic location! -The owner allowed us to store our luggage in the suite before check-in time as the Clipper arrived very early in the morning. She provided the same courtesy during the day we checked out. This was much appreciated. Cons: -I hardly slept well at all during our 4 night stay here. -There is a trash dumpster right outside the window by the bed. Three of the four mornings, a loud truck came & emptied the dumpster before 7 a.m. It's possible one of the trucks was a fuel truck as well, I was too tired to look out the window. There was no way to sleep through this racket. -We attempted to keep the windows open to allow a breeze at night since there is no AC. The suite has casement windows that swing out, with mini blinds for privacy. Whenever the breeze came through the windows, the blinds would bang against the window frames. Several nights my husband & I couldn't sleep from the blinds banging, & ended up having to be hot with no cross ventilation just to stop the noise. -By the time tax was added & $12/night for my son to sleep on the futon, it ended up being pricier than we expected at $255 per night. Overall I would recommend the Courtyard Suites, especially if you are a heavy sleeper!

I got a response that big dogs were not allowed especially the pit bull. Only small dogs are allowed considering smaller dogs are much more aggressive and annoying. The best part is that I have contacted the owner about getting my deposit back. 4 days later, no response. Go figure. I wonder how long I'll get a response. Save your money, chill at another place.

My daughter, who lives in Olympia, Washington, encouraged us to visit the San Juan Islands (and take her with us, of course) this year. I looked at several possibilities and settled on the San Juan Waterhouse because of its location to the ocean, its view of Canada, the fact it had Internet (I thought I might need to work) and its online reviews. We were lucky that our son was also able to join us, so we felt we needed three bedrooms. The San Juan Waterhouse sits on the edge of the Haro Straight. Its water facing wall is nothing but windows, so nearly every location in the house (including the master bathroom) provides an easy view of the water. The house has three bedrooms. The master bedroom is situated so you can see Canada from the comfortable king size bed. The second bedroom is in a room with three walls of windows. This bed is a Queen. The third bedroom has two twin beds and has high windows overlooking the sod roof of the house. The main room of the house has comfortable furniture surrounding a beautiful stonework fireplace (gas) and padded window seats with many pillows for reading and gazing at the water. The kitchen. Oh my goodness, the kitchen! It has everything you could possibly need for cooking (including basic spices) and an amazing Viking stove. I'd never used one of these before and now covet one for my own house. Because my family was not going to be together for Thanksgiving, we had a Thanksgiving celebration two weeks early and cooking the meal was a breeze (and fun) in that kitchen. The kitchen also holds the house's main heat source -- a gas powered iron stove. It really heats up the place -- even the master bedroom which is down a long windowed hallway. The house has two bathrooms. One, as previously mentioned, has views of the water through the windowed French doors. (they have curtains, so don't worry about privacy). This bathroom has a claw-foot bathtub and a separate shower. The second, smaller, bathroom holds a second claw-foot bathtub (no shower). While the house itself is amazing, the best part is the location. The architect took great pains to fit it in with the surroundings and Frank Lloyd Wright slopped ceilings guide your eyes to the beautiful landscape out the windows. The house is situated on a small cove. My son and daughter ventured out during a late-night very low tide and found some interesting sea life in the tide pools. We had one beautiful sunny day and one day with strong winds and violent waves. We saw many gulls, three eagles and two small deer. I am already plotting our return to this beautiful house -- hopefully in the summer next time.

The grounds -- consisting of about 4 or 5 separate buildings -- had a lovely chill vibe, lots of greenery around the compound, an indoor pool and sauna and a nice array of separate outdoor seating areas. Also, not gonna lie -- accommodations are upscale Best Western level, which again, I have no problem with, but just so ya know, that's 300 greenbacks in high season. Hey, it's an island, I get it, there's not many options; Just throwing it out there. Our Queen Standard room was on the small side, but the bath/shower was perfectly adequate (if a bit dated), as was the A/C, and the bed and bedding was pretty comfortable. The staff too was awesome, cheery and happy to meet any need. We loved the pool and jacuzzi setup, and there's even a little exercise room in the same building. One thing I could have done without were the 5 or so emails I received before check-in, begging me to complete the online check-in form ahead of time, so I could just go right to the room without needing to stop at the office. Didn't work and I still had to physically check in. So yea, that was a pain. And yet? They still get 4 stars. Our one-night stay may have been expensive but it was very comfortable.

It was a continental style breakfast with freshly made omelet and potatoes. It was pretty good but the wait can be long. I recommend getting in as soon as they open. The stars from the breakfast were the pancakes and their in-house made granola. They had a pancake maker which made perfect little pancakes. And their granola! So delicious.
