Gilmore Girls ruined B&B's for me... this is my first and last B&B experience. Paid extra for the "private" jacuzzi. It's less than private and had pine needles and outdoor debris inside. I'm not accustomed to having to clean a tub before use. Not sure who work here, they are never around. Website over promised and under delivered- cookies at check in (not a thing), breakfast brought to your room (for $20 extra a day), and the jacuzzi had a full page guilt trip about wasting water. Not a relaxing experience, will not try another B&B. Stay at a hotel, same cost and actually know what hospitality is. read more

We were very disappointed by the lack of hospitality in this Inn having stayed here several years ago. Sun-Mon stay The windows were stuck open and we needed staff assistance to close them. A staff member had to smack his hand on the gas fireplace unit to start it, stating the safety always sticks on it. When turned off, the pilot light flickered strangely making our sleep difficult. Only a heavy weight comforter was on the bed and, of course, we were not able to open the stuck windows. The windows were extremely dirty, the screens had pulls in them, the window sheers fell down due to curtain rods not properly placed. Some things about the room were very nice, but the staff was hostile and seemed not to like guests. When I asked which items on the breakfast were dairy-free ("everyone makes bake goods with butter") they said it is a "complimentary meal" and take it or leave it. When problems were brought to staff attention they were met with excuses and we were made to feel that we should never have brought any of it up. We will never stay there again. read more

We stayed two nights and thought it a lovely place to stay. We had a deluxe king with an in- room jacuzzi tub although we did not have "stunning easterly views of the surrounding farmlands and Cascade Mountains" from our room( room 102). Probably from the second floor you'd get those views. We had an issue with TV and fireplace but they solved that very quickly. Everyone was super nice. They have a breakfast special everyday but You can ask for something else. Please tip though! We stayed a Monday and Tuesday night. We had an egg benedict and the next day we had blueberry pancakes with two link sausage. It all was very delicious. The breakfasts were the best I've every had at a hotel. Two small issues: The room has a portable noisy air conditioner which takes up some room. Luckily we didn't need to run it. There is no table with two chairs to sit. Oh yeah, the flame on the fireplace is pretty small. The town is lovely. Carl had a map they made to show me a local beach along the river to visit. Definitely a cool place to walk a dog. The Mexican restaurant COA across the street has super margaritas! read more

On the road trip to the inn, we called ahead to ask for about a 1 hour early check in. The person who answered said that would be fine. "You can check in early from 2-3pm". We arrived and were initially ignored and told we couldn't check in even though we called ahead. There were two staff behind the desk seemingly in deep conversation and didn't bother to check if the room was ready. We had a boat to catch at 3pm and really needed to check in so we tried asking again after about 5-10 minutes of waiting for them to be done talking. They finally grabbed the keys to go check the room and checked us in to the hotel since our boat wouldn't be back until right before they closed that night. Ultimately a very rude first impression. Fast forward to when we return to the inn to stay for the night, we found the room relatively clean, but SO HOT. There was an air unit in the room, but wasn't hooked up to the window to let out the hot air. I should've told them I fixed its air exhaust and set it up for our use. Sad it wasn't already cooling the room as it was summer time and we had just spent 5 hours in the sun. I honestly should've charged them for it. There were instructions on the bed stating that breakfast would be delivered to the room in a basket between 8:30-9am. We woke up early and decided to wait for the breakfast to be served. 9:10am rolls around and still no breakfast delivered. We tried calling the desk twice from the phone in the room and no answer. We go down stairs to find that breakfast had already been served in the dining room and they were already closing up the food. Pretty upsetting that breakfast instructions were entirely wrong. Another complaint that was minor: outlet availability in the room is very limited. It seemed like they purposefully screwed the bed headboard into the walls in front of the outlets so that you could not use them. Also, no fridge or microwave in the room if you have any snacks or drinks you want to store. Overall, bed was comfy and room was clean, but we still wish we could get our money back! Not at all worth the expensive price for a "deluxe suite". read more

We stayed here for two nights in April and splurged a bit with the deluxe king on the second floor with fireplace, jacuzzi, and balcony. After arriving on Friday night, we attempted to fill up the jacuzzi and read the instructions about hot water possibly running out and indeed it ran out so fast that we couldn't even fill the jacuzzi up more than a few inches and had to get out after a few minutes because it got too cold, and it was already a bit chilly being early spring. Unfortunately, this issue persistent throughout the weekend and even the shower was only lukewarm. We tried several times again, at different times of the day, but there was never enough hot water to use the jacuzzi again. Breakfast was tasty and filling, the location is close to town, and service was friendly, but I will not stay there again because of the lack of hot water. I mentioned it to the front desk when we checked out and they gave us a $30 refund, but it ruined the weekend splurge for me. read more

Let's start by saying I do not like to leave bad reviews. I'd rather just walk away but when you are looking forward to something special I need to warn you. To call this a king suite is a real stretch. We got there on the 28th of July and the temps were cold and rainy. They had turned off the radiant floor heating. Our room was cold. We turned on the fireplace and left for dinner. When we came back the room was overwhelming with gas fumes from the fireplace. We shut it down and opened the door to air out the room. Another couple was also complaining of the cold but they did not have a fireplace so they were just out of luck. When the owner arrived he was like "Oh well we only have one other room and that would be an upgrade" and walked out. Beyond rude and very unprofessional. This is a place you expect more from. When asked about the warm cookies they advertised another "Oh well"! Please avoid this place for a doecial stay and it is not cheap. Expected more. I've never encountered this attitude from an owner before. As a side note the owner checked back to see if everything was better. I appreciate that but won't recommend this place. Downer start to a special 2 night birthday celebration. Life goes on and we will make it great!! read more

Nice place and very convenient. Within walking distance to the downtown area. The rooms are relatively new and clean. Would not really call it a B&B - much more like a small inn. Nothing special about the rooms but nothing really negative either. Just do not have the character associated with a B&B. Breakfast is good but not great. Refreshed and renewed - This is one of the rare gems that makes you wish you could give extra stars or badges for businesses that truely go above and beyond with their services. The Wild Iris Inn is located on the edge of La Conner, but don't let that stop you - it's a block from one of the main roads giving it both charm and a quiet location. All rooms look out onto the neighboring farm. It doesn't get more quaint. We were welcomed by the front desk upon our arrival and greeted with their famous cookies (they're so good that they even sell them but the recipe is on their website!) before shown to our room. They were great about chilling our bottle of Dom so we could enjoy later in the evening. All the rooms are recently renovated but they kept some of the original woodwork raw to keep the cabin retreat vibe. There are fireplaces in the rooms and Jacuzzi - ours was outside on the deck which provided a nice retreat given the stormy January weather. If you want an easier option to step into or more privacy, opt for the in-room Jacuzzi. The bedding was new and rich in thread count. It felt like sleeping in a bed of butter, in a good way. Tearing myself from the bed was difficult, but their two course breakfast made it worth it! Overall, the Wild Iris Inn couldn't get any better - they have great staff to meet any of your needs, a great breakfast, and a modern update that didn't compromise quality for cost. Less than an hour and twenty minutes away from Seattle, the Wild Iris makes the perfect place for a getaway year round. read more

My husband and I came here for a weekend to celebrate our one year anniversary. We absolutely loved our stay at the wild iris inn! We stayed in a deluxe king suite with a large jacuzzi tub in room. The bed was amazing- really comfortable and plush. The price for such luxury was really reasonable and worth the upgrade to the deluxe room. Breakfast is complimentary with stay and we loved the wide variety of options. They had house made granola, various breads & fresh fruits. They also make a specialty hot item each morning- we especially enjoyed the breakfast croissant. Our overall experience was wonderful. The inn is cozy and quiet and located within walking distance of shops and restaurants. We enjoyed running along the shopping streets as well as relaxing in our room. We will be back. Very cute little inn. All of my experiences throughout our one night stay were incredible. We were greeted upon checkin with fresh baked cookies (which were delicious!) and awesome food recommendations. The room was nice and exactly as pictured online. The view could be better I guess, but it was dark anyways so it didn't bother me. We had breakfast before we checked out. It was simple, but delicious also. All the staff seemed to be very happy and friendly. Overall it was a nice place and experience, absolutely worth the cost. read more

We would definitely stay here again. The only negative was that the hot tub water was barely warm. One night stay with my wife in one of the King Suites. Bed was heavenly - very comfortable and we both slept soundly. Breakfast was hearty and served in a warm atmosphere. Great-tasting coffee. Most of the couples we saw at breakfast appeared similar to us - in 40s and 50s. There were scrumptious trail-food-like homemade cookies in the room when we arrived. We ordered the red wine with cheese package. Red wine was good. Cheese was nothing special, but if you like cow cheeses you'll enjoy it -- and the serving was large. Grapes were delicious. read more

There's every tea you can think of in the lobby, and breakfast is so delicious. I think it was quiche (and they even make veggie versions of everything!) and some sweet little berry studded creation. Can't recommend this place at all as I got illegally charges on my credit card. When I booked the room I got Tye(?) I believe her name was on the phone. Told her I needed a room for a night and I informed her that is was my birthday. She was nice enough to offer to have a bottle of wine in my room. After arriving and check-in, no bottle of wine. No biggie but what I believe was super strange at checkout same innkeeper very bizarrely accused me of stealing a bottle of wine that I never took and charged my credit card for it. Very unprofessional alone as it is to accuse a guest of such a thing and then to turn around and charge for it! Don't know if it was a mix up on their part but quite slimy and sleazy, please stay elsewhere. read more

Very impressed with all of the care and accommodations they have put into place to adhere to a safe and relaxing experience in these stressful times! I was in a lovely jacuzzi room with an exterior deck. I was greeted with a hot, out of the oven baked cookie, and a refreshing glass of ice water on a hot day! Room was set up with calming, relaxing music, streaming from the TV, a refreshing air conditioner to gain relief from the heat, and wine glasses and key available, for the bottle I brought with me! I hardly saw any one at all. Almost felt like I had the place to my self. No "social distancing" concerns. The host is a local and will provide you all kinds of information about the town, and where things are. Very friendly and eager to help. Upon my arrival, I was frankly disappointed that this was not "in town." But upon further exploration, found out it is so conveniently located for an easy, short walk to the main street of town along the canal. How great! They only other reservation I had was that the deck looked out over a field, not the water. But that eve, sitting out in the tub with full view of the starry night, it was so perfect and beautiful. We really enjoyed it. The hot tub is a sunken, jetted bathtub, that you fill with hot water, and step down into. It does not have a heater, and will cool down over time. I definitely recommend this place. Great value for the price. read more

The owners are super nice and friendly, helpful with dinner recommendations and knowaldgable about where you need a reservation at. They started our stay after signing us in by handing us a small plate with fresh made cookies. Movies to borrow and games that you can bring up to your room. We had the king suite with a Jacuzzi tub and it was absolutely gorgeous. Very nice fireplace. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was included downstairs in the am. We stayed two nights here, and for the money I really expected more. First, our room was on the second floor, which would have been fine except there was nobody to help with our bags. My husband is disabled and it was a struggle for me. The owner/manager said he just had surgery and his wife had a broken ankle. Then he showed us a lump on his hand and said "feel it" (!) Uh, no thank you. I noticed on the way up how dusty the place was, and was a little nervous after that. I will have to say the bed was wonderful. However, when I dropped my glasses and then looked under the bed there was somebody's lip gloss and a tube of lotion. Yuck. Also, there were burned-out bulbs and the windows looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a year. Despite all of this, my husband and I had a lovely time browsing the shops and the food at Oyster and Thistle was outstanding. Also the fish and chips at the Laconner Pub were as good as I've had. Next time we will stay at the Channel Lodge. read more

The Wild Iris is only 1 hour 20 minutes from the Eastside. A close get-away. We were able to book on short notice, too. I give this place 3.5 total. Our room had a fireplace, a large, jacuzzi bathtub, little deck and a king size bed which was comfy and had nice bedding. There were very few luxuries other than what I mentioned, but we enjoyed the quaintness of this bed and breakfast. The included breakfast was non-eventful. They had some sliced fruit and store bought breads and sweet rolls. The hot portion of the breakfast was not great. Soggy toast, six or seven cubes of home fries and over cooked scrambled eggs. I guess it was better than not eating anything seeing they do not offer food other than breakfast. We brought Prosecco, cheese and crackers, smoked salmon, our French press, coffee and hot water maker along with other snacks so we were good. I'd recommend the Wild Iris for a quick romantic get-away. read more

I stayed here this past weekend as a 30th birthday present with a friend (girls weekend). I have been here a few times. They have new owners, and there staff is very nice, polite, accommodating, and social. My friend had made be a casserole for dinner to surprise me with and they allowed her too use there kitchen to warm up our food, and use there fridge too store it in. I enjoyed our room and sitting on the mini deck the room had. The breakfast was awesome we had biscuits and gravy and eggs. I have never had biscuits and gravy before. They also have a fruit and yogurt with granola to start out with. I will defiantly be back. read more

Overall, nice bed and breakfast. However, there are a few things that could use improvement. We arrived 10 minutes early to check in and it was an awkward experience since the reaction was that we were way too early and asked to either find something to do for a while or wait. Also to note, the hot water ran out pretty quickly in the evening for our outside jacuzzi tub. But- The cookies the give you at check in were REALLY good, and the breakfast was tasty. The bed was comfortable, and the room itself was nice. Overall a cute but standard place, but would say it was maybe overpriced for the issues we experienced that could be easily improved. read more

When I made our reservations a few weeks ago I discovered that the Wild Iris has new owners. We found our stay this time to be slightly above average overall - but no longer can we recommend it as "outstanding". We believe that the new owners have the best of intentions for this place. It's just that they may never be able to live up to the expectations set over the years by previous owners, Lori and Steve Farnell. What specifically is missing? What is it that kept us coming back? Simple. The previous owners made us feel like we were guests in their own home. We came back year after year to bask in their love of their precious B&B. The previous owners nurtured us, and we always felt pampered, and that made it outstanding. The new "things" are nice and superior cleanliness is expected, but nurturing will never be a task that gets checked off a to-do list of upgrades. Guests will now find orange juice, ice water, (uninspired) pastry, granola and a self-serve coffee sideboard in the AM; the "basics" for any B&B. And to their credit, the new owners have hired a super cheerful woman to attend to guests coming down for breakfast. But this place really took a dive on breakfast. We REALLY missed Lori serving us our choice of fresh squeezed juices and hot delicious homemade breakfasts that varied day to day; food she was proud to serve. In contrast, today's breakfast was described as a burrito but presented as a barely warm quesadilla. Just a flour tortilla with a swipe of (canned) refried beans and basic scrambled eggs inside with a bit of (bagged?) shredded cheese. This breakfast was below mediocre in every way. I sat there at the table feeling a bit sad as the new normal associated with the ownership change continued to sink in. So here's my humble suggestion for the new owners - maybe leverage the quality that surrounds the Wild Iris to elevate the breakfast offerings. Keep it local - maybe buy some of the awesomely prepared pinto beans + salsa from COA across the street. You folks could arrange for fresh bakery to be delivered daily from Calico Cupboard. Finally, based on our experience this time around, I suggest prospective guests ask the owners to take a tablet or laptop INTO THE ROOM to test the Wi-Fi signal before they assign it. Ours had no Wi-Fi due to what was described to us as a wiring glitch. We were assured that they'll rectify this soon but the promise of a future fix did not help us. It would have been good to know in advance that this advertised amenity was going to be unavailable. An apology was provided but no discount was offered. read more

What a wonderful place to re-charge, and relax, it sure does some good for your soul. The hubby and I needed to get away and so happy we finally were able to come to the Wild Iris. We arrive 30 minutes ahead of their check-in time, and the lovely woman behind the desk was so sweet with accommodating us. She gave us a quick tour and showed us to our room. The room was beautifully decorated, clean and so cozy. We splurged and opted for the "deluxe king suite" with the the jetted tub inside. We slept pretty well, the bed was quite comfy, the shower was nice, and of course the tub was amazing. Even with the inn being at almost full capacity we really didn't hear much noise from other guests, except for the jacuzzi tub humming from other rooms. The only time we saw other guests was at breakfast time or within passing each other. The breakfast was really good, so filling and fresh. The view of the farm land from our room was nice. The cookies as everyone has mentioned are amazing! I wish we had more! This will be our go to place the next time we come back. Very nice for a romantic getaway or even yourself! Some tips: -The jacuzzi tubs can only be operated between 8am-11pm, not sure if the same applies for the outside ones -If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, please tell them at check-in or put it on your online reservation request, or if you rather dine in your room for breakfast let them know -If you need any supplies, there is Pioneer Market down the street that opens until 10pm -You don't need your car if you plan on sight seeing around La Conner, the shops and waterfront are all within walking distance -Bring your own bottle of wine, there's a bottle opener in the room -Eat the cookie, savor it! ;) read more

We came here on our honeymoon and it was small enough to be nice and cozy and La Connor is fun and close enough that we could catch the ferry the next morning. I scoured online last minute for a place to stay with my husband and I happened to find this little gem. The concierge was warm and welcoming and our room was fantastic! I am usually not a fan of Victorian era decor but our room was tastefully decorated and inviting. When we walked in, there were warm house made cookies beckoning us on a side table. In the morning, breakfast is complimentary and served in the dining room or in your room upon request. Unfortunately, I have an egg allergy that is the bane of my existence & the owner happily whipped up a potato hash for me! We also had fresh fruit, yogurt, spiced banana bread, coffee & juice. I haven idea how we ate all of that food. The staff are very gracious and accommodating which is hard to find. We will definitely be returning! Sidenotes: If you want to watch a DVD they have a few to choose from at the front desk. Also, splurge for king suite with jetted jacuzzi--you will not be sorry unless you get the water too screaming hot but that would be your own damn fault. read more

The Slider Cafe is a great place for breakfast or lunch and I would recommend reservations for Nell Thorn. Ask for a booth in the bar by the window and have the bartender make you a cosmopolitan. This cozy getaway will nourish your soul! We checked in and walked into town to tour the shops, sip the wine and enjoy the food. All of which were top notch. Everything closes 6pm-ish, so if u need to snag something from the store, do it early. :) The cookies waiting for us in our room at check-in were delicious, just as everyone preaches. Stayed here this past weekend with my husband for our first overnighter without our son. Top notch. I have never been to a bed and breakfast but after some checking around, I decided that The Wild Iris would be better than a traditional Bed and Breakfast. From the time you arrive to the time you check out, the service is amazing. They really make you feel at home. We choose the room with the Spa tub inside and made great use of it. The rooms are decorated nicely and not overly done. Huge King size bed with tons of pillows. Flat screen TV, DVD player, and a CD player with classical music for you to enjoy. They really do give you the best warm cookies when you arrive and the Inn Keeper will gladly give you the recipe when you ask for it. As everyone else said, Breakfast is two courses. Yogurt parfait and a bread, this time it was apple spice cake. Moist and Delicious. Second course was an egg dish. I am not big on eggs but it was really good. They also give you fresh OJ and coffee.
