Was passing through Moab by accident and saw a sign for Blu Pig BBQ. Wanting to try something new, we pulled in. We were seated pretty fast and our waiter got our drink order and returned almost immediately. I ordered the Prime Rib Philly and the Big N Tasty fries with Tri Tip. The Philly was ok but the fries were excellent. Mostly because of the tri tip. My mom ordered the tri trip sandwich and I wish I would have as well. The waiter was very friendly and fast on the refills. If I go through Moab again for whatever reason, I will definitely go to the Blu Pig again. read more

Came here with my family while we were in town. We were told we could only sit outside if we had a dog, who does this? We did have a dog so we had him come sit with us only to find the outside area mostly empty. We were served by Evelyn. I asked for the ribs & brisket to come from the point/deckle and the waitress asked what two kinds of meat I would like. I again explained my selection of ribs and deckle. I should have known better because when my food came out, the brisket was really really dry and the area I asked for is juicy as. Which IDK if they, didn't have the part I asked for and just didn't tell me, didn't know what I was asking for so just gave me the plate of we don't care or didn't know what I was asking for. This is sad if you are going to work at a BBQ joint and some says what part they want if you don't know don't be a dick and just give them a stfu plate that's $30. I asked of they had any hot bbq sauce they brought me a little thing of Cajun BBQ that was hot as a seedless jalapeño I was hoping for more of a hot like habanero or hotter. After a long day of MTBing Moab, I thought I would try The Blu Pig. It was just ok. Nothing great. The brisket sandwich was a little dry. The gumbo side was outstanding. The service was lacking. Tri-tip was delicious with the BBQ sauce and the ribs were pretty good with the mustard sauce. Both were a little lacking before adding sauce. The coleslaw was delicious, okra was OK, potato casserole is not so good and the red beans and rice were terrible. Good service on a busy night. Live music was nice. read more

Cool, blues-y atmosphere. Large portions! The full rack of ribs is the size of the full rack of Lloyd's from Costco! Pretty good. My kids has the kids' new of 1/4 rack and they all loved them. Applesauce or carrots as options as sides instead of fries all the time. I got burnt ends, which were pretty good but a little dry. The fried okra was awesome (I grew up in TX) and the baked beans were ok to me , but my kids loved them and ate all of mine. read more

We were not impressed with this place. The food was ok - we ordered the big nasty fries with tri tips. They were fine but not wow this is delicious good - as you would expect from the really good sounding description. We also got wings which were big and juicy and pretty good. They have only 4 flavors to choose from and 3 of them are bbq variations. The garlic buffalo is not buffalo at all, but still pretty good. Number one complaint is that I asked to taste two of their draft beers and was charged a dollar for each one!! I was not told that when I asked AND I ordered one of them as my drink. I could understand charging if the person doesn't end up ordering one, but it came off as a cheap nickel and dime trick and left a really bad taste in my mouth for the place. We ate lunch here yesterday. The waitress was super attentive. We sat outside because we had a dog and I kindof thought we may get forgotten out there but she was on top of it. She even set our table with a bowl of water on the ground for the puppy. We ordered the BBQ brisket. It was really great and the portion sizes were perfect to share. You must try the hash Brown casserole. AMAZING. I would love to go back at night when they have live music. read more

Coming from the southeast, land of delicious barbecue, I must say this place does some good. We had the green bean fries as an appetizer and prime rib cheesesteaks as entrees, all of which was delicious. A little pricey, but that's to be expected in the middle of Moab. read more

Very good BBQ. The beer selection is very extensive. The live music in the bar is not piped into dining room so you lose some ambience. The ribs , tri-tip , pulled pork and turkey were all good. The 3 sauces on the table were a nice touch. The place was full and service fairly fast. They is not a given in Moab. Will sit in the bar next time to get music and food . Dumb Utah laws don't allow anyone under 21 in the 'bar section". Wacky stuff and not tourist friendly. read more

Food: It seems like every piece of meat served here is smoked. We tried the rack of ribs, the outer parts are a little dry but the middle portions of the ribs were juicy. The ribeye steaks were cooked to perfection ( medium rare). Having never tried gumbo before, I really like the flavor of the gumbo served here. We also tried other dishes but I don't know if I would suggest it or not. So I'll not mention it. Service: the service was extremely good. Everyone is very friendly and tries to make your experience at the restaurant a very good one (gives a feeling of family owned). Faith was our waitress. We went there a couple of nights ago with some skepticism after reading the comments here. Let me tell ya!!! We were gladly surprised, excellent music, beer, and desert! Our waitress Kristi was amazing, although she was super busy she made us feel like we were the only ones there. We were so happy, we came back the next day... And had their food. The burnt ends did not disappoint, and their bbq sauces were wonderful. Definitely a place to go and enjoy with family or friends. We arrived late in Moab and weren't sure where to eat. Too hungry to read reviews we pulled into the Blue Pig bc it looked fun and had a bunch of cars in the parking lot. So glad we did! Definitely get the burnt ends and the gumbo. The meat was cooked to perfection. Great drink list and fun atmosphere. It was open mic night and local folks were singing. Our waitress was great. I had the Baby back rids, good thing that I ordered half rack. They were very dry and hard. They water down the BBQ sauce ( never seen that before ). It comes with Texas toast that is just slice bread not the thick Texas toast that I am use to. My wife ordered Chicken wings that were only ok. The waiter took more than 10 minutes before they asked us what we wanted to drink, then the food was horrible, fries dripping of old grease not cooked all the way, the pulled pork was dripping of grease(so much for it being smoked) the corn bread tasted like cake batter. Recently my brother and I went on a road trip to the National Parks in Utah. We stayed in Moab and visited several of its restaurants, one of which being the Blu Pig. My first impression was that all of the employees looked confused. They were not sure where to seat us and ended up seating us next to the patio door. This would not have been too bad except there was a live band playing on the patio. Every time someone opened the door, the live music mixed with the restaurant's interior music, which became quite annoying. The layout of the restaurant was odd but cozy. I did not care for the colors and blue lights used on the interior. It did not say BBQ to me. I ordered a full-rack of the St Louise Style Ribs, a side of fries and dirty rice. The Dirty rice looked like a clump of mush. It was slightly warm but cold before I finished it. I liked the fries. They were thin cut, with the skin and very tasty. I really liked the ribs. There were plenty of them to eat. The ribs were perfectly cooked and tender. The meat was not, falling off the bone, but rather slid off the bone with a gentle tug. They were served with a generous amount of BBQ sauce and there were four other selections on the table, including a succulent chipotle sauce. I wished the ribs had been served dry so I could have sampled all of them without co-mingling the sauces. This turned out to be our most expensive meal of the week. My brother's meal was the same except he ordered the half rack. Between us we ordered three beers, and a bowl of ice cream for a total of just over $75.00. I would have gladly paid that for the food, if it had included a better environment. read more

I come through Moab several times a year, and really wanted to like this place. It's right next to the La Quinta where I always stay, and I am always a fan of some BBQ. I've tried it twice now, and been disappointed both times. The BBQ is at mediocre at best, as well as being overpriced to boot. I tried the gumbo on my last visit and found it was more like a cream of something-or-other soup. The service is fairly indifferent, though we were able to get the server to crack a smile once. To cap it all off, the draft IPA I had tasted watered down (I understand that is a Utah thing, so I am not penalizing any stars for that). This place looked promising, but I have to admit, that I won't be back to find out if the third time is the charm. read more
