Walking in the staff was very friendly and told my party that we could each try a couple of different pieces of Laffy Taffy figure out what we like the most! I decided to try the eggnog flavor and it was very nice! After trying a sample I decided to get a handful of different flavors and nibbled them while I walked on St George street. The Candy Corn Taffy was decent, but it did not have that much flavor in my opinion. The consistency of it was very tasty however so I was glad to try it. I also got one that was pickle flavored and this one was absolutely flavorless so I was a little upset about that. Another one that I got was beer flavored and you could taste it with just the right amount of flavoring. The prices are very decent and charging by the weight, you can get a nice amount in your bag without breaking the bank. The place was very nicely lit and super clean and I loved how one of the walls, in its entirety, was filled with easily over 50 different flavors of saltwater taffy! I felt like a true kid in a candy store!

This is the most disgustingly rude and insulting treatment we've ever received…read more We've been coming to St. Augustine for family vacations for twenty straight years. Every single year we bring our adult kids, our nieces, and our nephews to the same candy store to fill a bag like we've always done. This time some miserable woman at the register decided to accuse us of sticking our hands in the bins. Nobody did. Not one person. We're all grown adults. We opened the lids to look, then used the tongs like normal people. She still insisted someone reached in, like we were a bunch of dirty little thieves. Then, out of nowhere, she announces she's closing and we have to get out. Right then. No discussion. I asked if we could at least pay for the bag of candy we had already filled. She flat-out refused. Just "No. Leave." Like we were nothing. Twenty years of loyal visits, and this is how we're treated? She couldn't even take cash for what we already had in the bag. She just stood there looking sour and watching us like every customer is either a criminal or an inconvenience she has to endure. We will never set foot in that store again as long as she's working there, or if she's the owner. Absolutely ridiculous, hostile, and completely unnecessary.

We walked up to Carnival Sweets and immediately noticed how absolutely charming the store looked. You went inside and it's such a quaint little store. To receive your drinks, you go out the side door to the left, around the back. The hot chocolate with some of the most decadent that I have ever had. It was incredibly rich and very flavorful. Key lime pie is my favorite dessert. Earlier in the week, my husband and I were in the historic district on Monday, but unfortunately they were closed, so we didn't get the chance to stop in. Yesterday was our 12th anniversary, so after enjoying a homemade dinner, we made a special trip downtown to pick up a slice of pie for dessert. One thing I absolutely loved was that customers are able to sample everything--from the cookies to the different pie flavors. That was a wonderful touch and made the experience feel welcoming. I also appreciated the fun nod to the famous Key West chickens, which brought back memories of the island. One disappointment was that, unlike the original Key West location, this St. Augustine shop does not offer a locals discount. I know for a fact that the Key West stores do, and it would be a nice addition here, especially for those of us who live in the area. As for the pie, the original Key lime pie was absolutely delicious. However, I wasn't a fan of the coconut or strawberry flavors. My biggest concern, though, is the price. Paying $6 for a single slice of pie feels excessive, especially when you also have to pay to park just to visit the store in the historic district. Overall, I enjoyed the original pie and appreciated the opportunity to sample the products, but the combination of high prices and paid parking makes it difficult to justify returning. If they were to introduce a locals discount like stores in Key West offer, I would gladly give them another visit.
