Nice location, very picture friendly atmosphere with great curb side appeal. Fire pits nice outdoor seating. I was apart of a large group, and they said was to big to have an indoor small place. Was told they had heaters outside. No, what they had was like a heat lamp over heat that did nothing . Also a fire pit table that barely heats us unless you are on top of it. The server seems very annoyed that we sat around the only source of heat and passively aggressively asked about us sitting at the table. The table was away from any source of warmth. I sampled the shrimp appetizers Brussels sprouts and cheese plate. All of which tasted great but I couldn't stay due to the cold. May be when it's not freezing cold I would like to try this place again and definitely a different sever. read more

Service and atmosphere were excellent. Food taste was a little underwhelming for what we expected. I got the filet which was very good but the sides were mediocre. My friend got the Cajun salmon and it was not highly impressive. Nor was the trio dip we got as an appetizer. Would come back, but won't be at the top of list when traveling to SC. read more

Loved it. Upscale, yet casual. The staff was incredible from the moment we entered. Annie was a great server, knowledgeable, attentive yet not intrusive. The food was great. My wife had the fish tacos, while I had the burger. Both were top notch. Her Brussel Sprouts were, as she put it, "simply superb". I had the Truffle Fingerling Potatoes as my side. The Bistro had a great outside patio with fire pits and heaters for the cool nights. They had a very nice wine list, we ended up ordering the Teremes Tempranillo. Five of us decided to eat on the patio b/c we had been in AC all day and the live music was pumping inside. We wanted to hear the conversation and thaw out a bit. The extra good food and attentive service from Mariah boosted our spirits also. There were 3 of us on 1 bill. The fried oyster appetizer was perfect for our 2 oyster lovers, for $10. We had no complaints about anything we ate. Personally, I loved my Shrimp and grits (with andouille sausage). BOTB's version is as savory as any I've eaten in Charleston (a high compliment). I had that with a glass of White wine, a perfect pairing. My SC friend had a bowl of She Crab soup, her 1st ever. It was so good she said she was going to look for her a She Crab soup recipe. Failing that, she'll be back here I bet. My SO had the Voodo Skillet which she loved. Three diners ordered Collard Greens which they raved about. Our bill came to $87, not bad for 3 people to eat sort of upscale. That included 2 USA beers for my none-wine drinking friends. The two other. friends who weren't on my bill ordered burgers. The meat on the burger looked 2" high, at least 1/2 lb, I figured. My 2 girlfriends were dragging near the end of eating their burgers, LOL, but they never stopped chowing down. What an awesome time we had in this place. This intimate place in Lake Murray is a hidden gem with some southern low country favorites fused I. With some European charcuterie. This hideaway is a little family and couples getaway to enjoy some fellowship with the ones you love. They also provide a live band which plays great music. Bruce are waiter was right on time and took care of us. I thought he was Family by the time I left. My son and friends had the shrimp and grits and they were tasty. I had to tell Bruce that there were almost as good as my wife's grits who was sitting right in front of me(Alternative Fact). I had to use wisdom if I wanted to get lucky that night. Lol My wife and I had the Pistachio crusted grouper with grits and asparagus - tasty and delicate. Caprese' Salad with balsamic vinegar and Olive Oil was great Oysters on the half shell - Seafood lovers dream. Key lime Pie They played my favorite song - Mustang Sally. Excellent food, service, and band! The bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer we ordered was very good. The chargrilled taste mixed in with the sauce made it very flavorful. They also have fish entrees, salads, hamburger with fried egg, ahi tuna, 10oz steak, etc.. This is a casual dress "higher end" bar and grill, so the prices are slightly high. However, you can still get a Bud Light draft for $2. Drink specials are about $5. The 2 member band they had, husband and wife, were excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. I would consider going back, especially when there is live music. read more

We have gone here twice now. The first time was in December about a week before Christmas. I made reservations over the phone and was glad to see they took reservations. We had purchased a Group On coupon for $22 that was good for Saturday nights. When we arrived they had a nice booth reserved for us. There was a band playing - excellent band and great selection of songs. As some of the reviews state, this is a bar/restaurant so the front bar area has tables and booths and live entertainment. So much for the atmosphere, I'll come back to that in a bit. Food: My wife ordered the Salmon and I tried the Ribeye steak. We had the house salad (I had blue cheese dressing, can't remember what my wife had), but the salad was great. Highly recommend it. My wife loved the Salmon. When they brought my Ribeye out my first thought was that it was pretty thin. But the taste was fabulous. I ordered an Old Fashion and a wine with dinner. My wife had two wines. Total bill was very very reasonable. House wines were only $4. We both were very pleased with the evening and vowed to come back. 1/16/2014 - Went back again and brought our neighbors. I made reservations over the phone via a voice mail and they returned my call that afternoon confirming the reservations. They had a table reserved when we got there. When we walked in the front door the band that was playing was so loud that it almost hurt your ears. My wife and neighbor were almost ready to turn around and walk out. Fortunately, we were seated in the back side room adjoing the front bar room, but still open to the room so that you can still hear the band, but at least not as loud as if you were sitting in the main room. Once again I ordered the house salad and split it with my wife. Blue cheese dressing again and it was great. Our neighbors split the salad with ranch dressing and loved it also. My wife and friend ordered the Salmon with crab and spinach topped with the Chardonnay Drill Cream sauce. I think it was the best meal at the table. I ordered the special of the night which was the Grouper with two sides (asparagus and mashed potatoes) and it also was very good. Nice and flaky with a lemon picata sauce. My neighbor ordered the shrimp and grits with andouille sausage and it was great. Every single meal we've had here has been excellent. I highly recommend this place for it's food Unfortunately, the atmosphere is the only negative that I have about the place after this second visit. It's like the business isn't sure what it really is - a restaurant or a bar. It is definitely not a place for a romantic, or nice quiet dinner with your spouse or a date. The lighting in the adjoining room next to the bar was slightly bright, not bad, just not quite what we were looking for. I'll definitely go back for the food and hope the band has toned down the volume some. Maybe it was just the band playing last night. When they did do a lower volume song they did sound good. The other issue was my wife ate half of her Salmon and the waitress asked if she wanted a box to take the leftovers home. My wife said she did. The waitress took her plate from the table, came back shortly and handed my wife an empty box. My wife said "Where's the food?" The waitress said she would go back and find the food but my wife didn't feel right about someone going back to the kitchen and picking out the food that had been taken, not sure if it would be hers or not. The waitress did offer to have them make her another dish so she could bring it with her. My wife said not to bother. So they did offer to correct the problem. What a little gem in a field of dust and rust! We were on a small road trip to Asheville and decided to stop for a quick bite (apps and a drink). Our server, Ziad, was such a gentleman with all the pretty words to make us feel like we were the only table of importance! If I could steal him, I would! We ended up chatting with a real Don Juan who sold us an extra couple bottles of wine to take with us, not that we needed them but YOLO! Everything about this place was darling and an absolute MUST for anyone driving thru Columbia (or you locals need to get wise)!!!! Shout out to steve! Went for my wife's birthday with our good friends. We both had the "special" Blackened Grouper with She-Crab Sauce. One of our friends also had the grouper. The fish was not as expected. It did not appear to be blackened, but it was breaded and it was very "fishy." You could smell it when they set it down. We should have sent it back but we are usually reluctant to do that. Our friend also did not like the fish. The waitress seemed annoyed the whole time. Generally an unpleasant experience at $125 (for two) with drinks. We had a party of 9 people and they were able to accommodate us right away. The menu contains pretty much anything you could want from sandwiches to burgers to pasta to surf and turf. I had the fettuccini Alfredo with blackened chickened and was not disappointed. There was a generous portion of chicken breast on top of a bed of fettuccine noodles. The portion size was fairly large. I had trouble finishing it. Our server was friendly and efficient, topping off drinks and keeping an eye out for anything we needed. Went here on a Saturday night and the restaurant had a very open concept and live jazz music which was nice. The customer service was good. The food was okay. Had the Bayou Chicken Pasta and the concept of the pasta sounded really good. The chicken was seasoned well and the addition of the sausage was nice. The pasta itself was lackluster to me though. I would have liked it to have a sauce of some sort something that was thicker and creamier. The pasta was just bland and not seasoned. This dish could definitely use improvement. For $18 I didn't feel it was worth it. The picture I saw of this pasta on the review and the one that I was presented looks completely different. read more

Awesome! Came here for our niece's birthday. Best tasting sweet potato fries in town. The steamed veggies were seasoned to perfection. They really pay attention to the little details here.
