Great good for pastry and breakfast! Nice location and decoration of the interior and outside. You can sit up on the roof area with a nice scenic view of the city of Salida. The staff attended to us very quickly and professionally. They were there too serve and make sure we were taken care of. By the way it was even more special since it was Father's Day! read more

Great find, thank you, Yelp! A handful of us were in town for a getaway weekend and looking for a great brunch spot to get some breakfast cocktails and a home-cooked meal. We found it at The Biker and the Baker! We sat downstairs in the Sweetie's dining room, which was a little weird at first but worked out just fine. I felt bad for our waiter, who had to run up and down the stairs all day. We ordered various delicious drinks, from cocktails to coffee drinks and even one of their Turn Up the Beet juices, and none of them disappointed. We also tried a wide array of food, from sweet to savory. Everything we ordered was excellent. I had the Hot Mess, and it was exactly the stick-to-the-bones kind of meal I was looking for. The upstairs was cute. This is where The Biker and the Baker is technically located, but so was the area they share with the business downstairs. This is a treat anytime I'm driving up to the San Luis valley, Salida is such a beautiful town and this spot feels like the heartbeat. The Biker & The Baker was such a unique experience! I absolutely loved the decor inside and the unassuming aesthetic as you walk up the stairs to the second level. You're instantly greeted with warmth and given menus. I was immediately drawn to the eggs benedict with dill hollandaise, prosciutto, arugula, and goat cheese. I mean... who wouldn't be? I'm so happy I ordered it! They opened up my taste palette to recognize that dill hollandaise might just be the BEST! I devoured this meal and can't wait to enjoy it again. The eggs were cooked so perfectly too. I also ordered an iced rose matcha latte and the sweeteness, taste, and rose garnish was beautiful. I can't wait to go back! Our party of four stopped in here for cocktails on a Friday night around 6. Luckily there was no wait and they were able to put a table together. I ordered a biscotti old fashioned which was subtlety sweet with the biscotti flavor and tasty. I really enjoyed my husbands tequila palisade peach drink - he's usually not a tequila drinker but everything else in the drink sounded good and it was! We visited Salida for 5 days and had breakfast here 3 times (plus had drinks one night). Suffice it to say we were impressed with their brunch! Here is the weird thing though..... when we visited for drinks the first night in town and sat on the rooftop patio, our server said "This is our soft opening. We are going to open next week with a lot of drink specials, but this week we just wanted to be open for Memorial Day". I was super confused by this because I had heard of the restaurant from a friend that lives in town. When our friend joined us he said a male staff member told him the same thing two months ago: "This is our soft opening". Other than that weirdness, the place is great. Their carnitas are delicious and we really enjoyed the Hot Mess, as well as the Biker Benedict. They have an incredible tequila selection too! read more

She acted like she couldn't be bothered to go back and check with the kitchen. All the while our toddler sat there hungry. We came here for the signature cookie and we weren't disappointed. This place would be great for lunch or dinner with the view they have. Unfortunately this wasn't an option other than a European type small plate option on weekends. The cookie we got was basically a monster cookie and it was large and monsterous in terms of thickness. They own being an upscale bistro and deliver on that commitment. For breakfast, you have to head upstairs to their dining room and during summer months you can sit out on their rooftop patio. The views of the Collegiate Peaks from both the dining room and deck are great, reminding you that you are somewhere special Both floors have a full bar on them and they serve some great coffee or if you are on holiday and want a breakfast cocktail you are all set. I had their spicy bloody mary and enjoyed it a lot. It was not too spicy but had a nice kick to it. For breakfast, we ordered both "The Biker" and "The Baker". I ate the biker which was a poblano polenta cake hopped with carnitas meat, poached eggs, and their hollandaise sauce. I was impressed with all the elements of this plate, but combined they were amazing. The meal was filling at kept me fueled for my full day of adventures in the mountains.
