Tom was great very knowledgeable honest and transparent. You can tell he loves bikes and knows what he is doing. Highly recommend!!

Tom came to our house to pick up bikes and was pleasant and friendly. Explained what would be done clearly. Next day came back and everything all fixed up at a reasonable price. Pleasantly surprised about turn around time. Would definitely use again. He was able to provide service for our E bikes which has been difficult to find. Good value for price. read more

Great service and they come to your house and are very reasonably priced. Will definitely use them again

Tom is meticulous in his work! If you spent a lot of money on your bike, it only makes sense to have an exceptional mechanic to care for it. And that means The Bicycle Escape Mobile! read more

I'm so happy with Bicycle Escape Mobile. My 10 yr old bike is riding as smooth as the day I bought it! I had let my bike get very run down. Tom picked it up and dropped it off where I work, so convenient, and in only a few days. Worth every penny. read more

Five stars for great customer service! Bruce helped me look at bikes and sized me for the right fit for my body size. There was also a sweet young lady who helped me with my rollerblades. She rotated the wheels while I was checking out the bikes and it was only $10. They were really nice to work with read more

The Bicycle Escape - Bike Repair/Maintenance Near Me

I have been wanting to check the store out for weeks. This morning I stopped in and saw a phone holder for your bike. One of the gentlemen working in the repair area overhead my conversation about the need for a phone holder. When I got back to his area he asked which one I picked out. When I showed him he offered to show me another style. He was excited and energetic about the phone holder. I went with his recommendation. It isn't often you get such excitement from an associate in retail nowadays. Great job and thank you !!!!!! read more

This review is for the service department. Over the years (I'm in my 60's) I've been humiliated by high-end bicycle repair shops twice for asking them to fix up someone's castoff bicycle just to ride around town. Not worth their time! I had a totally different experience at The Bicycle Escape. My 40-year-old find and I were treated with respect. I was presented with a fair, itemized list of all proposed work, which was completed on time and under budget. Should I ever be in the market for a new bicycle, The Bicycle Escape has my business! read more

The best and most family oriented bike shop in the area. There are lots of shops that do all kinds of crazy high end ultra specific bikes (and The Bicycle Escape does that too) but this is the place to go if you have a family. Great selection of kids bikes, very friendly and good with kids (my kids love going to the shop even if it's for "daddy's" bike). They are the only shop in Frederick that you can walk in and buy a mountain bike, road bike, kids bike, beach cruiser, hybrid bike, custom made American bike and a bmx bike. No other shop can cover all your needs like The Bicycle Escape. read more

I don't need a bike, otherwise I would buy it from here. This is strictly a review of service. I went in mid November for a much needed tune-up and to fix a flat tire. They told me that they had a special going on starting December 1 for the tune-up and that they would honor this pricing even though I was two weeks earlier. That earned a star. Got the bike next day, super fast service and bike was (is) operating great. That earned a star Fast forward 3 weeks. The SAME tire has another flat. I assume something is stuck in tread to cause two flats within a month. I get to bike store about 45 minutes before closing. Other than walking (about a mile to home) this was my only mode of transportation. Guy working in shop dropped what he was doing on the other two bikes he was working on to focus and help me out. That earned a star He found a shard in the tread causing the puncture, removed it and installed the new tube for me. When he rang me up, he just charged for the material, no labor. Saved me $10 bucks or something, which is not going to make or break me. It's just the point of the matter. He said that since I got a tuneup and had the intertube fixed already, he wouldn't charge labor. So we are up to 4 stars. Why the fifth star? Cause there is a bad ass tail-less 15 year old cat named Jimmy roaming around and I happen to have a soft spot in my heart for cats. 5 Stars. They've been in business since 1985 - almost 30 years. I wish them another 30. It's the little things that matter. This is how you do business. read more

Tom and his group are great at the Bicycle Escape. I know a lot of places tag themselves as saying they are a shop for riders, but here, they back it up. There are weekly rides for both road and mountain bikes. Also they always have time to help you out if you need a quick repair or just want to chat. Finally the selection is the best in town. They can custom fit you for a special order or you can browse the wide variety in the shop. In the market for a bike? Go see Tom and the team! read more

The Bicycle Escape - Bike Repair/Maintenance Near Me

They have been very helpful each time I've gone in. I'm especially grateful for Roger's assistance and diagnosis of issues with my bike. They never try to charge for anything I don't need. So glad I found them once I moved to Frederick. read more

Same Review From Derby Star Pro Shop: Worth the 2 hour drive to purchase Roller Derby gear. Excellent one on one customer service. Very knowledgeable on Derby. Must be willing to invest a little more money. I went in today to look at their Roller Derby gear because as a fresh meat I was very uncertain on sizes and product. I had completed online researches, but felt very uncertain since this was not a cheap investment. Tom, the owner, spent time with me making sure that the items from the helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, wrist guards, knee pads, and all the way down to skates met my needs. I was able to try everything on and know that it fit. I skated around the shop to test the different roller skates. Tom was very informative on Derby gear and was not pushy at all. He made many recommendations based off his wife's derby experience and from selling products for the last 5 years. He answered all of my questions with honesty. I received a Fresh Meat discount and walked away with satisfaction. I spent about $400 for my starter package after discount. Estimated Breakout prior to discount: ($250 skates and toe guard) ($50 helmet) ($140 pads) ($20 mouth guard). My kit is more expensive than my google researches, but I was willing to invest more money into my gear. I highly recommend this location if you are looking for gear or wanting to try on 178 killer pads and roller skates before purchasing them. Do not fret when you walk in. The Derby Star Pro Shop product is merchandised in their bike shop. read more

I was stuck on 270 trying to re-secure the SARIS Bones bicycle mount on my car. Mark (from The Bicycle Escape) saw I was having trouble and pulled over to help. He gave me some pointers on a better fitting variation of my current mount, and he helped me strap it correctly to the back of my car. After that, he gave me a section of inner-tube and showed me how to tie down the handlebars to keep them from swiveling throughout the drive. I look forward to visiting The Bicycle Escape and notifying management of Mark's appreciated help! read more

We were originally going to purchase our Specialized bikes here but since we live in Anne Arundel County, we purchased them locally. Big mistake! The "other place" was a very long wait for delivery and one of the bikes was missing a small part. The owner of that shop had the audacity to tell us that is "normal"and the really part isn't missing. So we decided to contact The Specialty Bike Co. and Suntour on our own & they were very helpful and confirmed the part was missing. Suntour gladly shipped the part at no charge via 2 day delivery. So we decided to go back to the Bicycle Escape to by all our accessories ,racks , helmets etc. As we expected: 100% Grade A service with a great inventory. Everyone in this shop was professional, sincere and very accommodating. It is a bit of a trip for us up to Frederick and we envy all the bikers in the Frederick Md area. Great retailer and we highly recommend. read more

Had a wonderful experience with this family owned bike shop. I'm new to biking and brought my recently purchased bike in to be checked out, being told from the purchaser (a different bike shop) that just a few things needed to be adjusted. I sadly learned, after talking with the owner, that my bike needed to be rebuilt and that this happens often. After explaining the process to me and their recommendations I knew I was leaving my bike in good hands. I also needed a new seat and was given a good recommendation, one that has made a world of difference. Turn around time was quick and w/in a week my brand new bike was brand new again and I've been out riding safely ever since! read more

Best bike shop in the Frederick area. Such a helpful crew, without the air of superiority you'll sometimes find in bike shops. They have an excellent selection of bikes at all price ranges, plus lots of accessories and parts. Big bonus that they are a certified Brompton dealer! read more

This shop is my go to for all my cycling needs. I bought my mountain bike from them a few years ago and remain a loyal customer for all my repairs. The shop is not close to my residence, so traveling a long distance for repairs is a testament to their superior service. read more

Super nice people. Had both bikes tuned up here. Happy to find a great shop in the area

I can't say enough about Tom and the crew at The Bicycle Escape. In the week and a half prior to this review, I was on the final push to finish building a vintage BMX bike from the ground up, a project which has taken some years, as I wanted to be sure I got it right. During this final 9 day stretch, my bike was up at The Bicycle Escape several times for parts installations and adjustments, and Tom personally handled the work. He wasted no time getting every job done and kept me informed every step of the way. There are several other bike shops in town, but for my money, this is the only place to do business. read more

This is my favorite bicycle shop within 40 miles of my home (out in Eldersburg, MD.) Not only are Thom and the entire staff super-friendly, great with repairs (from the time I took a serious tumble and chewed-up my bike, to the time I brought them a 10-year-old much abused hybrid and they brought it back to like-new condition,) and have a wonderful selection of more than just bikes (great jerseys, nutrition, gear, etc.) They also just sponsored the rest stop/repair station on the Westminster Firefighter 50 ("Five Alarm 50") ride this past weekend, and did an amazing job. GREAT support, and I'll definitely be stopping by the Bicycle Escape to pick up some of the great ride-snacks I got to try during the ride (the "Stinger Honey Waffle" and "Stinger Ginsting Gel" were both really good.) read more

Excellent customer service!! I brought my bike here after having bent my rear wheel while riding earlier that day. Part of the frame was also bent and they were able to fix it and get me riding that afternoon. The staff at Bicycle Escape worked on my bike for 2 hrs and got a very difficult job done. They were excellent and I will go back time and time again! read more

I was recommended to this shop by another bike shop because the Bicycle Escape is a Specialized dealer. My regular bike shop was personally familiar with the quality of work performed by bike shop number 2. I was not disappointed. I needed to have a fork replaced. Tom the owner (I think) was very careful in entering my requirements into the store computer which was key in eliminating the possibility of error by miscommunication. The steerer on the new fork needed to be cut to a specific length. Measure three times, cut once. There was no room for error and I was particularly concerned because that fork was the only one Specialized had left for my 2014 bike. Upon delivery I noted that everything had been taken care of as we discussed during my overcomplicated order. I took the bike home, made some adjustments and screwed the bike up. Tom without questioning my foolishness or embarrassing me, put the bike back to where it was when I left the store and didn't charge me. All in all a great experience. read more

I went to 7 bike shops in the hagerstown/Frederick area before I found the bicycle escape. From the second I walked in I felt like they cared, not about trying to sell Mr something, but about me. Talked about what I wanted, what I could afford and what they suggested, and came up with the perfect bike for me. Then sadly 20 days latter someone cut the cables and stole my perfect bike. Every one at the bicycle escape was right there for me, doing every thing they could to get me set with a new bike and the set up so NO one could steal it again. They will have a friend and customer for life. Stop in and say Hi, you won' t go anywhere else. read more

I am a new customer and the first day I walked in, Roger and the rest of the staff at The Bicycle Escape made me feel like I had been going there for years. All of the staff go out of their way to greet you and assist you with whatever you might need. I originally visited the shop to get a few adjustments completed on my daughter's bike. The service crew is fast and their prices are excellent. I ended up purchasing a mountain bike from them for myself and Roger spent a lot of time with me determining both what I wanted in a bike, and ensuring that the bike I would choose would be the best choice possible for my performance needs. Frame sizing, suspension options, and a variety of other details were discussed as I was test fit for my bike. The Bicycle Escape has an extensive selection of bikes in stock and their showroom floor will make a bicyclist drool with all of the options. I ended up ordering my bike. It arrived and was prepped and ready to go just when they said it would be. After a few personalized adjustments of the suspension I was out the door as a happy customer. The customer service at The Bicycle Escape is simply top notch. The friendly, professional and knowledgeable staff greet everyone like they are family and they ensure you get just what you need. Very disappointing. My husband took my 2000 Kline here for its yearly tune up (there was nothing wrong with it, it has most of its original components because we take really good care of it) because our favorite mechanic left our local shop to work here. It should have tipped him off when he walked in carrying my bike (I am 5'2", he is 6'3") and was asked if he was the rider of this bike. He requested that Keith tune the bike. He spoke to someone about it and left the bike. Keith fell ill and someone else decided to "go over" the bike for us. They called and told my husband that I needed new wheels - the wheels on the bike, while not new, have less than 500 miles on them. My husband went up to see what the deal was and they then tried to sell us a new bike. Keith was still ill and they said that they had done nothing to the bike in the mean time so he brought it home, however today when I rode it for the first time since this occured the rear break was completly disengaged, rear derailleur was skipping all over the place and the front derailleur was completly inoperable. I was stuck in the granny gear for the entire commute with weak rear breaks. Seems that they were more interested in selling us new than doing the smple service that was asked for. read more

One of the best bike shops I have ever set foot in. After moving from the Midwest, I needed to find a shop to reassemble and fix our bikes up. Tom and Roger were very welcoming and made our bikes look and function like we just purchased them. Roger and Tom kept me updated as parts would come in and when they were ready. Roger brought me back into the shop and showed me what were critical fixes. This shop is very welcoming and friendly. For anyone wanting to get away from the big box store, this is the store you need to visit as they not only get your bikes working and help you select the right products for your bikes, but also let you know about biking events in the Frederick, MD area. Overall, Roger, Tom and the whole staff are an amazing group of people. We will be customers for life. read more

This is a riders shop. If you don't have a knowledge of bikes or if your looking for something menial, they will treat you like crap to the point where you will want to leave. It seems they think that if you don't know their lingo about bikes, to them you are just stupid....either that or they are just sharks swimming along the beach waiting to attack. I had a problem with one of the wheels on my bike...so i took it there. They told me i needed a new wheel. turns out it was less than a $15 fix at the next place i took it to....hmmmmmmm read more
