We booked their bike out and kayak back option over the phone. When we got there Ted helped us out, made sure the bicycles were adjusted appropriately, gave us a map, told us where to go and we were off! The bike/hiking trail was fairly flat, beautiful and shaded by trees and we made the 5 mile trip to the boat landing in no time. Ted showed up and helped up into the kayaks, gave some more instructions and we were off again! The Potomac was really calm and we took our time paddling back. It was a beautiful and peaceful trip back. Ted met us at the landing and drove us the two blocks back to the shop. Ted was super helpful, the trip was great. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for an easy going and beautiful trip! read more

We did the Pedal & Paddle Trip in early October 2024 and had a great time! The starting location is conveniently located in downtown Shepherdstown, so it's very easy to park nearby and get something to eat before or after. The Pedal & Paddle team handled things perfectly, allowing us to check-in early for our convenience and ensuring that we were taken care of throughout the day. We want to give a shoutout to Reid for handling the switchout of our bikes and kayaks and picking us up at the end promptly. It was a fun day and we highly recommend this place to others, both local and visiting from further away. read more

My doting husband asked what I wanted to do during our Memorial Day weekend of relaxation here. It was a rough workweek so he did some research and presented me w the options. I def wanted some outdoor activity of biking, kayaking and/or hiking. He found a cool combo of biking and hiking 3-4 hour tour here and when called to inquire, was impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of Eddie. We came the next day and were treated with the same friendliness and professionalism despite the fact that there were a ton of people crammed into little shop, there because of the unexpectedly beautiful weather. We were immediately suited up w bikes and they obliged our need for putting a small pack on one to bring our phone as we didn't bring a backpack. The tour was awesome. We biked about 5 miles on the gorgeous C&O canal and ended in Snyders landing where we had delicious ice cream at Barron's. After a call to the shop, Eddie came to drop off our kayaks and helped get us into the river so we could paddle our way back to Shepherdstown. The bike trail was gorgeous...lovely tree canopy to keep us cool and dry. The river was also gorgeous--calm and peaceful with a little current to help us along. It was a very restful and well planned journey. After we got off at the boat ramp Eddie came to pick us up and bring us back to town. Eddie himself is a hoot--full of cheer and great stories. He motivated us to consider working up to riding long stretches of the canal. He's really fit so it's easy for him to say as he does the whole 300 mile stretch from DC to Pittsburgh over the course of a few days. May take us a bit to work up to that :) but Eddie gave us a breakdown of what gear we would need to build up to that from padded shorts to dry wicking tshirts to clip on shoes. We booked a mid day rental and got the last 2 kayaks for the busy holiday weekend. The crew at P&P was great and very helpful. The trip down the river was so much fun and we really enjoyed our day! The kayaks were in good repair, and seemed pretty new. Life jackets were comfortable and also in good repair. read more

We rented kayaks and did the 8 mile shuttle service. The guy who drove us out was great. He offered plenty of suggestions for local food and ice cream and was very knowledgeable and helpful. I was nervous getting in the water and he reassured me that the water wasn't moving that fast, it just happened to be moving pretty quickly where we got dropped off. Which was true! It was a very smooth ride and definitely do-able for newbies. All around great experience with friendly and helpful staff! I will be coming back sometime! read more

Amazing experience today! We chose the pedal and paddle tour. The employees were super helpful with everything! We first had a nice shady 5 mile bike ride on the C and O towpath. After a quick call to the shop, they came out to meet us and we got our kayaks and they picked up our bikes! Paddling down the river was breathtaking! After an hour or two on the river we were promptly picked up and dropped off at a delicious lunch spot. A perfect day!! read more

I love these guys so much! I'm fat, middle aged and southern as all get out and they have never once treated me like a dumb girl or someone not to take seriously. We bought our bikes here, we have them serviced here and as long as we live in the area we'll always use them. They are so great. Super friendly, very reasonably priced and willing to help anyone. I've bought 2 bikes from this shop and have met lots of other cyclists. They have morning group rides on Sat and Sun for beginners up to advanced. They also rent bikes and boats for fun on the Potomac and along the C&O Canal. Very knowledgable and have a great mechanic on site too. Love this business. read more

I was on C & O trail when I my rear cassette (gears) were getting loose. Stopped in Williamsport but the bike shop recently closed. Traveled another 20 some miles to this place and I'm glad I did. Jamie fixed the cassette and didn't charge for the part or labor! He also let my friend and I hose down or muddy bikes! Excellent store and excellent customer service. Recommend this store for anyone traveling on the C&O Towpath! read more

We're very lucky to have a full-service (not just) bike shop in our little town of Shepherdstown. Jamie really knows his stuff and did a great job putting my bike together. They have tons of accessories and the prices are much lower than I was expecting - very competitive for the stuff I looked at. (So, forget heading to Walmart, just come here!) They'll also give you loads of ideas for local rides, including maps and their selection of new bikes was amazing for such a small shop. Though I love their current location, I'd like to see them grab a larger retail space elsewhere in town so they could augment their current inventory of products. Excellent place. read more

I registered on Yelp to write this. My wife and I were riding from Pittsburgh to DC a couple of weeks ago, along the GAP and C&O, and I rolled into Shepherdstown with a broken spoke on my front wheel. In fact, it was the fourth spoke I'd broken on that wheel in about 250 trail miles, so I'd met pretty much every bike shop proprietor from Confluence to Hancock -- good guys, all -- but I was resigned to having trashed my wheel. From Jamie, I was hoping to buy maybe 30-40 miles before the next break, after which I could limp to DC, bus home to Philly and get a new wheel. Fast forward two weeks, 80-or-so bumpy C&O miles, four hours rattling unprotected around a Bolt bus cargo hold, and maybe 100 commuting miles around my home city. That fix is still holding strong. Where those other very capable mechanics failed, Jamie succeeded, and joy for his work that was infectious. If we are ever back in Shepherdstown, broken spoke or not, I will go back and buy something. read more

We were thru - riding the C&O towpath from Cumberland to DC with our Boy Scout troop when our Scoutmaster's bike began making a grinding noise from the crank. Beyond our ability to fix on trail. We rode up to the shop, explained our situation, and the guys helped us immediately with the repair so we could rejoin the boys and continue our trip.
