One of my favorite places to go in Stowe! We always come here for dinner when we visit. The Mac and cheese is literally amazing, get the larger portion haha. The veggie burger is good but not the best because it kind of falls apart. My fiancé got the dry rub chicken wings and liked them. He also got the fried chicken sandwich which he liked a lot. Had a bit of a wait on a Tuesday night, apparently a number of restaurants are closed Tuesday in Stowe so they end up pretty busy. The margarita pizza was good, beer choices were good and service was pleasant. I always come here when I am in Stowe. A great spot for good food & a large menu. The service is quick and friendly. The ambiance feels like a log cabin feel with soft lighting. Highly recommend! We were there at 6pm this evening. Our server was okay. My spouse wanted A1 with her steak that she asked for when she ordered her steak. She didn't get the A1 until a while after she received her steak. Server didn't check back with us when we received our food until I was almost done with my ribs. I've been coming to this place every year during my annual winter trip to Stowe. There's a good reason why it can be difficult to get a table here, even on a week night. I highly recommend the burrata, but skip the pizza (the sauce is not great). Drinks are excellent, and there is a separate cozy bar area with plenty of seating if you can't get a table. Service is always great, and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. The perfect ending to a long day on the slopes. A word of advice: Put your name in early for a table, or you might have to find someplace else to eat! read more

Arrived with 40 minute wait on a table, which was okay because we got seats right at the bar. Drinks were good, but had to put up with a sarcastic and rude bartender who made you feel like you were putting him out. Specialty cocktails were weak. House salad had no taste. Asked for extra dressing on the side to hopefully add more flavor. We ordered one pizza for the two of us, which was honestly disgusting. We didn't even finish it. Coming from Connecticut, we know good pizza. This was not good, which was surprising because the last time we came ( a few years back) it was memorable. Totally disappointing. We were recently in Stowe for vacation and found The Bench for an early dinner one night. We walked in and they were able to seat our group of six without wait. Went to Bench for dinner on a busy Wednesday night and we were seated right away though service was slow, from getting the food to getting the check. We ordered burgers, pasta, salmon tacos, lamb gyros and the kale salad. Overall food was average except the salmon burger was a big disappointment since the patty was fried. Their twist on the poutine using cheddar instead of cheese curds was good. Restaurant seemed a little stuffy and the lighting didn't help. We here twice during our trip to Vermont. First visit I had the duck, hubby tried it and couldn't wait to return so he could order. We got the fries for an app.. the ones everyone suggested you should have (I think with sage) hubby had the buffalo Mac and Cheese. 2nd visit I had the pepperoni pizza and the smoked wings which were great, hubby had the duck. Service was great during both visits. Seating is a different experience depending on where you sit. First visit upon walking in we walked to the right past the brick oven stove and into a room. The food was so good but our initial encounter of the restaurant made us not give this place a 5 star review. We came by around 5:10 on a Saturday evening. We told the waitress we have a party of more than 10 and don't mind splitting up. As promised to be a 30 minute wait, they missed us and let other parties go in front of us which was disappointing. However, they accommodated and allowed our whole party to sit with each other which was nice. The restaurant has a bunch of pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, and more for for your typical American type of food. It was definitely good food after a long day of skiing! The fried chicken sandwich was flavorful, nachos were good, and pizza was great. The Bench exceeded all of our expectations. It's located right across Field Guide Lodge where we stayed, and we were able to get seated right away. We ordered the mussels, duck fat fries, a side of broccolini (not on the menu but they gave a few stems of it to us for $3), and the rastaman pizza. The waitress helped portion the delivery of each dish out well so that our 2-person table wasn't jammed packed with too much food. The mussels were all cooked to perfection. It's a hefty amount for a dish categorized under the starters label, and only 1 mussel tasted a bit questionable/bad. The red sauce had a little bit of kick to it, and my boyfriend and I would take the duck fat fries (delicious on its own) and dunked it into the sauce. At the end, we even took our spoons and spooned out as much sauce as we could. Then came the pizza. We must have severely misjudged the size because it was a lot bigger than what we expected. I was only able to eat 1 slice since I was already stuffed full of mussels and fries, but we saved the bulk of it for the next day and ate it on our drive back to Boston, and it was still delicious at room temp. Not sure if I'll ever be back in Stowe again, but I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is there! read more

This place was great! My party of 4 went there for a Wednesday dinner around 6:30. I got the bench burger and it was delicious (5/5). I substituted the fries for the mac and cheese but I don't think it was worth it (3/5). My party got the mushroom and the cheese pizza and it was so filling, that they both took half of the pizza home as leftovers! Only con of this place is the wait. My party had no reservation and we waited about 30 minutes, on a weekday! Other parties later than us were quoted an hour- an hour and a half wait, so plan accordingly. read more

Perfect place for a group dinner!! Loved all the food and the service! They had 28 beers on tap!! Insane! We spent nearly 3 and half hours enjoying our drinks and food. Ambiance of the restaurant is nice but really could use a little more lighting! I felt insanely sleepy after a few drinks and food - partly food coma but even moreso because of the lighting. As a vegetarian I had plenty of options at this spot! For apps w/ had the Nachos (w/o meat) which tasted OK, nothing amazing. Also had the Truffle Fries which I thought were too salty but rest of the family enjoyed. And we had mac n' cheese in a skillet which was very yummy- you can taste the fresh cheese! The 5 stars are for my main course -- I truly LOVED the Rezitarian Burger w/ a side of House Salad. Burger was made w/ Tofu, Cannellini Beans, Portabella, Basmati Rice, Cilantro Lime Mayo, Panko, Leaf Lettuce, and Onions. I wish all veggie burgers could be this yummy! For dessert we had the apple turnover which I heard was really good didn't have a bite - my dad really enjoyed it w/ the ice cream atop. We ordered the chocolate chip cookie skillet w/ chocolate center which my brother enjoyed but the real winner was the Smore's skillet! lol We ordered 2 more of these after having one. You can either go the boujee route with a duck pate plate (homemade!) or go the comfort pub food route with a delicious poutine.
