Martin Gross--AKA The BBQ Doctors--really came through for us this year! We have a 20+ year-old Grand Turbo BBQ that was not working properly and was grimy and dirty. Martin saved us a ton of money by picking up our BBQ and refurbishing it. Within a week, we had what looked like an almost brand-new BBQ! It's squeaky clean and polished. The ignitor now works with the first push, and he replaced the grates, burners, and even cleaned the ceramic tiles. Martin went above and beyond by patching a rusty hole in the back and replacing the broken temperature gauge. He also happened to have a used tile rack on hand which saved us from buying a new one which runs about $270.00. He's very generous and honest as the day is long! I have a 1998 Weber Genesis gas grill that had a outdated hose regulator. Didn't think it could be replaced because of the age & availability of replacement parts. I was ready to get rid of it. Our BBQ would not get up to temperature, so I called The BBQ Doctors to see if they could come check it out. Got a thorough diagnosis of the issue and it looked like whoever worked on this previously installed the wrong valves for each burner. They helped me order the parts necessary to save money. Martin is absolutely fantastic. I called him and he started with a phone repair walkthrough of my Weber Genesis 4 that wasn't lighting. I had already tried watching YouTube videos to try fixes with no luck. Martin had me do a few tasks that were very straight forward and he helped me get my grill working again in 10 minutes. Martin is second to none. He was very prompt in his response when I first contacted The BBQ Doctors. Despite the current climate of COVID-19, Martin always made himself available for any questions I had. I had an issue with my Lynx Sedona where the burners would ignite but wouldn't stay on. I was able to light the grill manually, verified gas was coming through and cleaned the grates and burners as well. I was at a lost for what to do next. Martin kindly walked me through troubleshooting tips and some tricks of the trade. He recommended that I get a pipe cleaner and clean deep into the orifice of each of the burners. Low and behold, this fixed the problem! Martin was very patient, knowledgeable and sociable. To be honest, I was weary about contacting a company that was all business and more worried about charging a premium than satisfying their customer. It was a very tough job, a Twin Eagles pellet grill with a number of issues, but he did everything he needed to do to make sure the grill got fixed. I have a 2007 Grand Turbo BBQ Grill with a separate side burner. The igniter stopped working recently. I called their NorCal dealer and they referred me to Martin. All I can say is Martin is AWESOME! I was referred to Marvin by the retailer who I bought my BBQ from about 15 years ago (Barbeques Galore). I have a Grand Turbo, which new sells for about $4,000. So when it died, I was hoping to salvage it. Three things about Marvin stand out: First, he is very knowledgeable - he knew my grill very well and I believe he'll be familiar with yours as well. Second, as others have stated, he was willing to do a *lot* of trial and error with me over the phone before I spent a dime. We spent about an hour the simple issues before we determined that I did in fact need a service call. He also did the same thing 3 months after he serviced my BBQ - I had another issue which thankfully was just a $20 regulator hose issue - once again, he answered the phone and he helped me diagnose is the issue at no charge - just a trip for me to Lowe's to get a new hose. Last, he was willing to drive about 60 miles to spend the day re-habbing my BBQ! I did pay extra for his travel time, but I think it's great that I didn't have to scramble to find someone who lived closer, only to find they wouldn't do a good job fixing it. We worked together - we had to take the entire BBQ apart to find the main issue (I had a gas leak in the main line). Then he basically restored the cast iron burners to new by drilling out the holes in each burner and he also restored the grates to near new as well. I learned about this company through Angie's list. I have an 8-year old Bull BBQ installed in an outdoor island. After about the first two or three years it hasn't been covered through the winter. Last year I noticed the BBQ wasn't working as it should so I jumped at the Angie's offer when i came. I am very happy with the work that Martin Gross did on my BBQ restoration. It wasn't cheap at $475, but certainly a lot cheaper than buying a new one. Martin cleaned it up (I hadn't done my annual cleaning yet) and reconditioned all the burners that had varying degrees of issues. It was returned nearly as good as new. Emailed Mark on a Sat. He emailed back Sun and he made time to come ot on Tue. I have a Bull 4 burner bbq. (2)burnes only burned on 1 side and the 3rd burner would not light-flames came out in front. I checked online for parts and figured it was going to cost me $150 parts +labor. Mark cleaned igniters and burners. Showed me how to clean next time. In 30 min Mark had unit running better than when new. He could have charged for new parts because i had no idea what was wrong. Mark is honest and hardworking. I have an old built-in BBQ that had not been cleaned for a number of years. I thought I might just replace it because the valve didn't work so I thought it might be unsafe. Martin came out and looked the device over and told me that it was worth three or four grand and I would be crazy to toss it away. I didn't really believe him when he told me that he could fix it and make it new. He told me his work was guaranteed so I thought "how can I go wrong - I am going to toss it away anyway." I was wrong. I don't know how he did it, but my unit looks and works like new. He charged me $500 for the job which I thought was high at first, but now I think that it was great value for the money. He also gives you a bottle of commercial grade degreaser to keep the unit clean. Martin is a nice guy trying to build a reputation for quality service.
