We were in the mood for "not cooking" on a random Friday a couple of weeks ago, and that means either dining-out or take-out. Further, we were tired of the usual burger, chicken, pizza, gyro action that we tend to favor on the regular. I had a brain-storm, FISH AND CHIPS! One problem, being relatively new to the Tualatin area I had zero idea if there even was a fish and chips joint around, let alone a decent one. Yelp and Google reviews to the rescue once again! "Fish N Chips" is right between the 60's Diner and Donut Land on Boones Ferry Rd. The positive reviews are pretty spot on. Solid fish and chips, and my son devoured the coconut shrimp. Portions are on the big side. Just for comparison, I can knock-down a 5-Guys double cheeseburger with everything, plus fries with no problem, so I went with the 4 piece cod and fries. It was too much. The 2 piece would have been plenty. Delicious? Check. Served hot and fresh? Yep. Homemade tarter and dipping sauces on point? Yes siree. On the down side, a teeny-tiny little seating area if you want to dine-in. Next time it will be take-out for us...but there will very definitely be a next time! read more

Halibut fish was good, a simple nice breading and perfectly fried. Speaking of fries (a.k.a. "Chips") they're perfect too, crisp on the outside and soft (but not soggy) on the inside with a clean taste. The clam chowder is good too. It's reminiscent of Ivor's if you know them. It's loaded with real clam meat. It does have a definite smoke note. It's garnished with bacon; if you're not a bacon fan, might ask to leave that off. I am a bacon fan and this was real bacon with good flavor. Good clam chowder. The little cup of coleslaw was unexpectedly good; at most restaurants, it's just there to add bulk and a bit of color, but this is house-made and flavorful. The dining room is simple, but clean and nice, nothing fancy. Noise level is good and the background music is nice. You order at the register but they bring your food to your table and they bus up. So it's a nice meal. Lots of disposable plastic and paper, unfortunately. But a small place like this hasn't got much room for dishwashing. They're in a little strip mall and access from Tualatin-Sherwood road is easy. There's good off-street parking. The place is fairly nondescript. Handicap access is good but the dining room is a bit tight. Vegetarian options are limited and don't even think vegan at a place this small that's doing meat. They do takeout. This place is family-appropriate but doesn't have a specific kids menu. In conclusion, this is a good addition to the area. I'll be back. read more

I never see them open and I drive by often hoping to try their fish and chips. It's very disappointing because it looks really good from the outside. It looks like a clean restaurant well set up. It's just very sad that they are not open. Not even the hours. They say they're open. They seem to always be closed. We have been for lunch twice and they do not disappoint. Had the Cod fish and chips with clam chowder and they were great. The Cod was breaded nicely and cooked perfectly without being greasy. Wow where do i even begin, came here today for Lunch cause a friend told me of a new fish n chips place, walked in it was dead af, ordered the Captains Platter assuming it would be a "platter" it was far from it, the oysters tasted bad so i tossed them out the window, the coconut shrimp all i could taste was the coconut, and the fish omg HORRRRRRRRRRRRRIBLE no flavor whatsoever not even a fish taste, honestly tasted like a tv dinner breaded fish, the chips even sucks, pass this place up everything's overpriced, i wont recommend or come back EVVVVER, im so disappointed read more

This place is CLOSED every time we try to go. We want to try because of excellent reputation. However, the door is locked, the lights are off, the chairs are turned up on the tables. We couldn't be happier with our order. Both the halibut and cod were crispy, yet moist and not at all greasy, and the lightly battered fries were simultaneously crunchy and fluffy. This was excellent!! I live in Tualatin and was waiting to try this place. The oysters, calamari and shrimp were all great. The fish was good as well. We also enjoyed the sauces...garlic aoli and yumi are a must. Next time, I'm going to try the fish tacos...that is if I can stay away from the oysters!! Can't wait to go back. read more

The halibut was very good, loved the tarter(dill)sauce. The oysters are like chopped up pieces and way over cooked. Prices are reasonable. I will try it again , but not the oysters. It's a shame, I love them but not these. read more
