Even if they're all sold out of goodies, they're worth the hype alone for their Tres Leches draft coffee. I've been an OG fan of Cris and the Batchmaker since she first started selling goodies out of her house in Huntersville. Now she's on 2.0 of her Batch House bakery and I'm still obsessed. Coming from a resident Batchmaker orderer, the OCPs (Oatmeal Cream Pies) and the S'mores Brownie are MUST gets -- she's absolutely famous for them and you'll understand why when you have a bite yourself. Really any of her brownies are to-die-for because her recipe contains half part chocolate to the rest of the ingredients...so they're ooyey fudgey goodness! On the cookie end, her Puddle Cookies are jam packed with delicious chocolate. And for cake, you cannot go wrong with any slice she offers! Honestly, If I come and she doesn't have what I was looking for I order something else or order what's available because anything and everything she touches is amazing. This was my first visit to the Batchmaker and it will not be my last. I've been salivating over their Instagram page for quite a while and I promised myself that I'd check them out when I had the chance. Well today was that day. When I entered, I was promptly and warmly greeted. Then I saw it... the oatmeal creme pie cookies. I'll admit I had to keep myself from grinning like an idiot. After I placed my order and received the cookie, I noticed that it had a bit of weight to it and was much bigger than I thought. The pictures I took did not do it justice. This cookie was big and hefty. After taking a bite I can honestly say that it was the best dessert item I've tasted in Charlotte. For me it was the pinnacle of sweets. Amazing would be an understatement. But this is in my humble opinion, of course. I cannot recommend this place enough. Our adventure to georgia started with a stop in charlotte nc. I have been hearing about this bakery thebatchmaker for awhile now so I had to check it out. First off, their staff is some of the kindest people I have ever met. We came in similar to a wrecking ball with our three kids and they were so welcoming. It is the best atmosphere and so perfect for families from the little kitchen and cozy couches to the huge outdoor area depending on what works for your family. My husband came out of the restroom and immediately said "you must go see the bathroom." There it was. #goldengirls everywhere in all its glory. I think I screamed. I can't even remember... I was that enthralled. Next came the treats. You can always tell a good bakery by the basics. I always order a chocolate chip cookie. We also got a brown sugar pop tart, oreo cookie and oatmeal cream pie. I get the fuss friends. I get it. Hands down one of the best cookies I have had in my life. I warmed it (per recommendations) for 10 seconds and it was gooey goodness. Everything we ordered was so good! Even 3 days later when we finished it all. DO NOT MISS THIS SPOT! I had been absolutely DYING to try a bakery in West Charlotte, the Batchmaker Batch House, but the hours make it difficult for me to get here. They're only open while supplies last, between 8 AM and 3 PM, Tuesday-Saturday. When you work weekdays (like I do), the hours are not conducive to getting here! If they opened an hour earlier, I could get here more regularly. Until then, Saturdays are my only shot at making it in. It's a very limited menu, too, except on Saturdays when they showcase a wide array of goods. They WILL sell out though, so I highly recommend getting here as early as possible! This small little shop features a menu of rotating sweet treats throughout the week. There are a couple of tables outside the shop, and if it weren't for COVID, I'd love to sit in the super-cute, midcentury styled seating area inside -- complete with sofa, accent chair, a few tables, and a small bar you can work from (or simply sit and enjoy a snack). Alas, only two people are currently allowed in at a time. I love that the owner is 100% self-taught with no formal training. It makes the bakery feel more real and community-driven. I had no formal training when I worked as a chef, so I admire its owner. Heck, maybe I'll apply for a weekend job. Trade a few secrets as something to do. When I went, the service was extremely slow. It took a solid 10-15 minutes per customer, and when only two people are allowed in at a time due to COVID, the line moves at a snail's pace. I arrived at 9 AM, and it took about 40 minutes for me to get inside. The line only continued to build up behind me. I HIGHLY recommend you get there for opening, and just know that there is no "running in" for a quick treat here. Here's what I ordered: Tres Leches Draft Iced Latte. They partnered with Hex Coffee in Charlotte to offer this draft latte. It's on tap and tastes more like a dessert than a coffee. It's creamy, sweet, and delicious -- with just a hint of coffee. I TOTALLY recommend it! S'mores Cupcake. I have mixed feelings about this. Overall, it was one of my favorite things I tried. The chocolate cake was PERFECTION! It was fluffy, moist, and chocolatey... what's not to love? The marshmallow was great too. The one negative for me is that the frosting was too sweet -- like so sweet you think your teeth might fall out. If the frosting were a marshmallow frosting that was then garnished with a fancily designed graham cracker, this would be my go-to every time. I can't stop thinking about how good the chocolate cake portion was! Oatmeal Cream Pie. This is what the bakery is famous for. It's like a "Little Debbie Oatmeal Crème Pie" but SOOOO MUCH BETTER. I find the Little Debbie one sickly sweet (like the frosting from the S'mores cupcake). The Oatmeal Cream Pie at Batchmaker is heavenly. It has insanely good vanilla and marshmallow filling that oozes out in the best way possible. This was my favorite thing I tried -- and quite frankly, if the line weren't so long, I would have gone back inside for another one. Pro tip: Sometimes, they offer a variation where they put the filling between two Oreo Truffle Cookies, which has to be INSANELY GOOD. Oreo Truffle Cookie. This is an excellent cookie. I love Oreos, and this was a whole new level of deliciousness. It's chewy with a slight Oreo/slight vanilla flavor. It's sweet but much more subdued than an Oreo is. I'd call this perfection. If you like Oreos, these are DEFINITELY worth a try. Cinnamon Coffee Cake. This was good, but a disappointment compared to everything else. Don't get me wrong; it's a knock-out for coffee cake -- it's soft, moist, and has just the right amount of cinnamon. Everything else was just so dang good; this felt a bit boring. Caramel Scone. Perhaps it was caramel apple? It tasted like a delicious apple pie, so I think there was apple in it -- but maybe my brain was playing tricks on me. I can't find it on their menu, and it didn't have a sign when I was there, so maybe I imagined it... Anyhow... it's terrific if they do have it available when you visit. Turtle Cookie. These are BRAND NEW to the menu. It's a chocolate cookie covered in caramel and topped with sea salt and a pecan. It was delicious! And definitely more chocolatey than the caramel and pecan flavor of a traditional turtle. If you're looking for something soft and chewy, this is your YUM! Strawberry Pop Tart. THANK GOD real pop tarts don't taste like this -- I'd quickly be on the way to "my 500lb life." This deliciously flakey pastry is almost a pie crust with a slight sweetness: it's a perfect pop tart. They make a few other flavors too, like blueberry, brown sugar, and PB+J (all of which I need to try). S'mores Brownie. I paid for this; however, they forgot to put it in my box. After I got home, I reached out to them when I realized it was missing, and they were super sweet and embarrassed about it. I like to think of myself as a cookie/baked goods connoisseur, so when I found out about The Batch Maker I couldn't wait to go. I stood in line opening morning with my twin boys and enjoyed my treat and Tres Leches coffee. Since then, my boys and I are weekly regulars for many reasons: 1) This is hands down the best treats I have ever consumed. The Smore's Brownie, Cookie Dough brownie, Oreo Truffle cookie and the pop tarts are all worth every penny. I still have many treats to try. 2) THE STAFF and CRIS- they make you feel at home, greet you with a smile and take time with each customer to ensure he/she gets exactly what they need. 3) Kid-friendly- There are definitely some coffee places that make you feel awkward when you roll in with two toddlers, but The Batch Maker welcomes kids with open arms. They have a kid cart, which includes toys, games and everything to keep your toddler busy while you enjoy your coffee/latte HOT. They also offer storytime on Saturdays in the space next door with additional treats. 4) Tres Leches Latte-get it! The Batch Maker is the highlight of our guests' trips to Charlotte. I always recommend our Airbnb guests to stop in, and when they do they rave about it... as I do. I know the City of Charlotte loves to hype up new businesses, and support is important, but you lose credibility when you exaggerate on reviews. Based on the 5 star review I had to give it a try. I mean it's a win win situation right? WRONG! It's a very small "bakery" with a small variety of desserts. Nothing really popped out at us, as it's mostly cookies, brownies and on this day a slice of "Snicker Cake" which was NOT good! At 6$ per slice it's also very expensive. The cake was not moist at all and the frosting was hard and not creamy at all. I didn't get the feeling or taste of a Snicker Bar with the exception of the occasional peanuts in the cake. So I got the s'mores cake, and a tres Leche cake. My friend loves the tres Leche. And I like the s'mores. It's very moist and heavenly. I can't say their customer service was 5 stars. This is a NEW HOT SPOT to visit. The vibe is AMAZING and the owner is super sweet, just like her baked goods. My first experience here today, was very pleasant. I walked in the front door and was immediately greeted by the owner in one of the baristas. The vibe is very eclectic. Cool wallpaper on the walls and decorative plates are on display. The bathroom has a golden girls theme, how unique. I ordered a vanilla latte iced but they currently only have caramel. The caramel was amazing. Luckily, they also have oat milk. First of all, outside of the shop and also interiors of the shop are absolutely pretty and chic. We had a red velvet cookie and weekend only cinnamon rolls. I loved both of them! Red velvet cookie is not too sweet yet it has rich cocoa flavor. The maple bacon cinnamon rolls is so fluffy and the crispy maple bacon adds nice texture to it.
