My wife swears by the French dip, and I'd put their chicken fried steak up against anyone's--it's easily the best I've had. The omelets are huge and packed with fillings, and the breakfast plates are great value. You get the choice of hash browns with toast or a pancake the size of the plate, and both options are excellent (deciding is the hardest part). Lately we've been sitting in the bar area when we go in around lunchtime (usually Thursday or Friday before our weekly shopping). The bartender is fantastic--friendly, attentive, and makes a great Bloody Maria. Overall, Freeland Café has been consistently excellent for us: great food, generous portions, and reliable service every time. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

Friendly and welcoming atmosphere, lots of people of all ages (people with babies and little toddlers, too!) and some tv. I came for my friend's birthday! People directed me where to go and helped me get a drink. The bathrooms were clean and the place was well lit and people were around if you needed anything. You need to go straight through an intersection just before the brewery, turn on a dirt road and then it will take you to the parking lot. We still needed some GPS navigation to get in a homebound direction. There were a lot of good looking beer options here so what we did was get a taster flight which was a wise choice. Some of the beers we had that made up that was a Key Lime Lager which was great. It tasted similar to the dessert and was easily my favorite. Alpenglow was another, also a lager that was pleasant and refreshing. We continued with the unique brews of a Nettle beer, a mango lager and the May Bee Lager. We also got an order of some of their brats from the food truck here. Those weren't too bad, perhaps not the most authentic I have ever came across but enjoyable nonetheless and pairs well with the beers that they have available here. Fun brewery to go to and one that should be stopped at if you are visiting the breweries, cideries, meaderies or wineries on Whidby Island.
