Tons of pinball machines! PNW draft beers, coolers full of seltzers, beer, cider and non alcoholic drinks options. Outside food allowed, tournaments on Mondays, beer discounts for tall boy Tuesdays and thirsty Thursdays. Such. Good time!

The Brewcade is exactly what Stanwood needed. A great lineup and variety of very well kept pinball games with some well chosen arcade games trickled in (NBA JAM!?) and all the TVs we could ever need. Also a nicely curated selection of really good beers/seltzers/ciders that shouldn't go under appreciated.

Echoing some of the reviews below, the BrewCade is exactly what Stanwood needed. What a relief!!!! This place was great! We were running errands in town & I had seen the BrewCade on a local fb group. We decided to stop in. Games, beer, what could go wrong? Everything went *right*. The bartender was welcoming, friendly, prepared, great selection of beers on tap & in the fridge. Yum! The games were so fun. I expected to feel intimidated (Think: Stranger Things/80s movie arcade competitions), but no. Big Buck Hunter, NBA jam, PinBall of every shape & size; Jurassic Park, racing games! My bf turned into a giddy 12 yr old again - & same! Another huge plus is the TVs. Yes. Why has it always felt so hard to watch the game at a bar in Stanwood? The BrewCade appears to be designed by someone that *also* wants to watch the game at a bar. Deep joy. While there is no in-house food, they had snacks for sale & there are 4 restaurants within the same complex. Don't fix it if it ain't broke. Shockingly - prices were GREAT. $6 for a beer. $0.50-$1 per game! At most venues in AZ, I would expect to pay at least double that. I could have spent all day here. We will absolutely be back!

Yummy! I first…read morestopped here in September 2024. I decided to go back because I was in stanwood for an errand and I was craving a good brew and some food. When I entered, I was immediately greeted with a smile and a welcome, which felt good. I drove an hour to get there and it just set the tone right away. I was low-key impressed and thankful to have a friendly bartender, as the last time I went (2 yrs. Ago) I felt the service wasn't the best. This was a different bartender. I asked about their brews and was informed they'd switched a bit. So, I ordered the Hazy and the Blonde, both of which are brewed in-house by SAAL. They were. both great. Good body on the IPA and almost no bitterness. The blonde was good too, although blondes aren't my typical go-to personally, so maybe I'm not the best judge of that. The owner came and spoke with me for a minute about their business and how 2020 had inspired them to brew the Hazy. I think it's called "All Love" or something similar, and it had something to do with the riots of 2020 and how we needed more love in the world. I dunno, felt inspired. It was a good conversation and I felt that the owner is passionate about what he does. Which I really liked. A business I want to support. The poutine I ordered was good but not great. I don't usually order poutine so I had low expectations but it just feels like it's just in the menu for the sake of being on the menu. Nothing felt inspired or original and this dish would benefit greatly from a little recipe switch up. Maybe use a better gravy and crispier fries? It could be great. This didn't detract from the experience for me, as like I said, I had no expectations from the food. I just wanted something to stave off the hunger until I got home.

Outdoor seating in warm weather, trivia on Mondays, great local flavor and a salubrious vibe. Standouts include their "adult" grilled cheese with apple and a delicious tomato bisque, and the Zombie appetizer: a monster mound of tots with Mac & cheese, chili, and bacon...my goodness. My fave beers so far are the Three Sided Coin, a light-bodied mild rye bitter that is super food-friendly, and A Point In Time, their medium-bodied earthy oatmeal stout. A must try if you're in the area. A lot of pride in product here. Highly recommended!

I came for the food -- in my case a Reuben sandwich stuffed to the gills -- and coleslaw, though obviously most people choose fries in one of the available variants. Both the sauce on the sandwich and the slaw had a kick to them - a hint of heat that added to the whole. The food was promised for 15-minutes, but took less than 10 -- I like it when promises are kept or even exceeded. The pub had three distinct seating areas: outside in the courtyard, outside under a deck (sheltered, with transparent vinyl sheeting to block the wind, and inside. This is a place where you order and pay at the bar, then find yourself a seat. It's not fancy, it's not upscale, but it's solid with good food and brews. The service was friendly and competent, but young and a touch overly enthusiastic (I'm not fond of being repeatedly called "my man" - not so much because it's excessively familiar - which it is, but because the enthusiastic repetition of the phrase at every chance is a bit forced and formulaic).

The Stanwood is as classic and historic as a dive bar can get, and you feel it in your bones here…read more You can almost see them, the echos of farmers, fishermen, lumberjacks and merchants from long ago bellying up to the worn, woody bar, playing cards at the tables, listening to music and local gossip as they smoked, spit and drank by the fireplace on dank northwest evenings of old. My memories here only stretch back a few decades, as a struggling musician playing the occasional show here back in the 90's and early Aughts, when they had local music nights. Stanwood seemed an exotic northern cowtown to this Seattle punk in those days. But the woody, ghosts-and-grit vibe enchanted me even then. Now it's a local hang. So cool. It's the only place in town with a pool table, and it's an uneven, wonderfully funky relic with mysterious, erm, attributes (mind the beam). There's an electronic dart board too, and a "beer garden" (read: outdoor area where you can smoke and drink) in warmer months, for those who haven't yet figured out that smoking is unhealthy and makes you stink. But: there it is. Adults only. Put your phone away. Talk to people. Eat and drink things that you probably shouldn't, and soak it in. The food is decent, no frills bar food, and your bartender (if you're lucky, Amy - she does a fine job) is usually also your cook, so have patience. The drinks are reasonably priced, and I recommend sticking with traditional mid-shelf cocktails and beer, and avoiding the foo-foo frozé stuff and sugary "specials". Those are just headaches in a glass, friend... For lovers of old, haunted places and classic dives, The Stanwood Hotel and Tavern is your huckleberry! Stop by, and see if you don't leave a little of your soul behind here too. You might see me and my gal shooting pool, and laughing about how the cue ball seems to wander off in its own sometimes, especially around that one old reddish stain...

Despite it being a busy holiday evening, we were seated immediately. The vibe was lively but comfortable, with most tables and the bar filled. Since we visited in February, we leaned heavily into their specials menu. We skipped the small plates and went straight for the mains: the Greek Salad with Steak, the Steak and Gorgonzola Flatbread, and the Vine Burger. Every dish was a hit, though my wife found the red wine vinaigrette on the salad to be just "okay" rather than great. For drinks, we stuck to the mocktails. We tried all three on the menu, and the Blueberry Mule (ginger beer based) was the undisputed winner. We'll have to come back for the cocktails another time since they looked promising! We capped the night with the Apple Blossom pastry with vanilla ice cream--it is a total "must-try." Overall, the service was courteous, the ambiance was spot-on, and parking was a breeze. We'll definitely be back!

The soup of the day was fantastic. A sausage, potato and kale soup. Warm, comforting and delicious! The salad was somewhat disappointing. I ordered the quinoa kale salad, with a citrus vinaigrette. There was a little quinoa and kale on top of a large amount of romaine. Not what I expected. It was also served stuffed into a small, tall sided bowl with the dressing on the side. How exactly are you supposed to dress it and eat it? My friend had the burger and fries. The burger was half the size of the bun. She literally removed 50% of the bun. It was also extremely well done. The fries were cold. They don't have decaf coffee, but I was able to order mint tea. It was brought in a cup that smelled like old coffee. The table had been cleared and I had no napkin and he didn't bring one with the tea. There was a slice of lemon I didn't want and I had no place to put it. There is potential here, I hope they pay more attention to providing a quality experience and food.
