A great dive bar to stop in after a day of hiking the Mountain Loop area. Free lot/street parking is available. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Must be 21+. Spar Tree offers a dart board, music, TV's, an ATM machine, pool tables (2), full bar and free WiFi. Food is standard bar food, deep-fried or burgers. My wife and I each started with a Manny's for $5 each. We shared the Alaskan Cod (2 pieces) & Chips for $9.50. The fish was panko battered and served nice and crispy. The fish wasn't greasy at all. The fries were well seasoned and firm. I dislike soggy hand-cut fries. I was pleasantry surprised to receive Broccoli Slaw in place of standard coleslaw. The only complaint that I have about Spar Tree is that I was over-charged for the fish. Menu lists the price as $9.50 and we were charged $12.50 instead. Our server promptly corrected the over-charge once I brought it to his attention. Overall, my wife and I will return in the future for refueling after playing in the area. read more

Oh, Kathleen likes! Why? Pool tables galore, a jukebox that plays all my favs (GNR, Bon Jovi, Godsmack, Lincoln Park, Poison, Ozzy, Nine Inch Nails, and the list goes on), and friendly locals who invited us to join their pub crawl on a Saturday night. Lisa asked us what we wanted to drink before we sat down. Loved her for that b/c we were freaking thirsty after summiting Mount Dickerman. Food is not made in house, but Spur Tree partners with the soda and burger shop down the street, Cranky J's Soda Shop. Chef made us some super delish burgers and hand delivered them himself. I had the Goober burger with peanut butter. Oh how I love my peanut butter! And I am willing to eat it with anything and everything! The spicy fries are hands down much better than the string fries and are oh so good when you dip them in melted peanut butter. Despite moving into town, my girlfriend and I made no real effort to visit this place because we figured the only bar in a small town, having no competition, probably wasn't anything to write home about. We couldn't have been more wrong. Joe is super friendly and he makes some amazing food. Completely disagree with the review that said this is standard "bar food". The first thing I said, in fact, after taking a few bites, was "This is so much better than bar food is supposed to be." This is my go-to for food in town from here on (Omega is good too, but it's friggin expensive). Haven't tried anything I didn't like, although I do wish the hot wings came in a much hotter variety. After a long day of hiking, we stopped by there, on our way out of town, and a gem of a place we found. Great service! Joey, the owner, and Sarah, the beautiful bartender, were all attentive and genuine. The bacon Burger and the Wrap were both kick-ass. Locals invited us to play pool, which we appreciated. The Spar Tree Bar & Grill is a great place to eat, drink, play pool, or just hang out. The atmosphere is second to none and people are friendly country folk. The personalized dollar bills all over the walls act as mini time capsules and feelings of nostalgia overcome my being as I drink ICE COLD beer and reflect on the many crazy nights had at the Spar. The juke box has anything and everything you could want to hear. I've been going to this bar for a few years now and I can't believe how far they have come from when it first opened. The owner "Joe," keeps a very clean (Bathrooms are not like what you'd expect from a small bar in granite) and respectful environment, which is nice if you want to go on a date here, or it's your first time. I've also witnessed a number of disrespectful and unruly people being asked to leave, only after a number of attempts by bar staff to restore peace among patrons. Some of the reviews on this page are funny to read because I have witnessed some of these customers being out of line and then they are confused as to why they're being asked to leave. As far as the food goes, I don't think there's a better option in town. Try the black and blue burger if you're hungry, it's one of my favorites. If you just need a quick protein boost, the steak bites are delicious and its comes with a variety of sauces to choose from. The fish and fries are also good choices. read more

The atmosphere is nice and is everything I would expect from a serious small town bar, from the friendly staff who take the time to get to know you to the decorated dollar bills covering nearly every inch of the walls from other appreciative patrons. Joe makes some truly awesome burgers, excellent brined fries and other options in their small kitchen. I quite often get a Black and Blue burger to go on my way home to Arlington, and I can't recommend it enough, give it a try. Another poster attributed the cooking to "Cranky J's Soda Shop," when I asked about this awhile back Joe had no idea what I was talking about, you can order shakes from the gas station just a few feet down the street but everything else is made in house. It also seems to be the local haunt for pilots and eccentric aerospace engineers if my many visits are any indication, so if you're a fellow pilot come in the afternoon and enjoy a beer, burger and conversation, or in the evening for music and pool. Dining and hangout options are quite limited in Granite Falls, luckily the Spar Tree is there and more than makes up for that. read more

Perfect end to a day summiting Mount Dickerman! Italian? No. Cafe? No. We wanted beers & burgers! We found the perfect spot at Spar Tree (I'd taken a pic of the iconic brickside sign on the way into town earlier in the day). Lisa served up some nice, cold $3 Hefeweizen's with a smile and so much personality we felt like we'd been coming there for years. Add in some friendly locals, pool tables, CD/Jukebox with enough metal and classic rock to keep the party going all night long. We were actually invited to stay all night, but I was strong and resisted. Spar Tree serves food from Cranky J's Soda Shop down the street - a killer partnership! I had the Classic Burger (dressed with a mayo/mustard-y sauce and all the fixings) and Spicy Waffle Fries. The chef came over personally from down the block to take care of us. There are so many hiking trails off of the Mountain Loop Highway that I'm sure we will be back at the Spar Tree many times this season... read more

I've been a regular customer of the Spar Tree Tavern for years and it's really improving under the new owner Chris. His staff is very friendly, the food is darn good, and Chris makes sure EVERYONE feel welcome (that was sorely missing in the past). Chris started "Weenie Wednesday" and "Taco Thursday" recently I hope he adds more daily specials. I'd also like to see some small, inexpensive appetizers because some times I feel like a snack. But when I want dinner the fish & chips are fantastic, so is the fully loaded Spar Dog. Good job Chris!!! read more

Wow!!!! Giving this place one star is generous, a group of us came in on Friday night and the bartender was a rude jerk!! I get that we aren't locals to granite falls but seriously, it's not hard just to be polite, the guy mocked us, muttered rudeness all before I had even gotten a drink, needless to say we left without finishing our drink, ps, this place smells of old spilt beer.. Eh... It was alright. Not a fan of the food. Burgers were over done and way to salty. Same with the fries that had parsley or some tasteless herb glued all over them. After a full day of hiking in Mt Baker Park, I yelped bars in granite falls and the reviews for this one looked great. So we stopped off and walked in. The boys grabbed a pool table and us girls grabbed a table. There's a sign above the bar that says "order food and drinks here". Ok no problem. Before we had decided what we wanted a nice waitress stopped by and took and our order for drinks. Cool. Good music was playing. Seemed like lots of local folks were there. We got our drinks and a gentleman asked if I wanted a glass to mix my fireball and angry orchard. "Yes please" I responded. As he walked to the bar he shouted for the nice blonde one to "bring a glass to the girl. She needs to mix her drinks..." Ok. No problem. A little snarky but whatever. The nice blonde one came by again and asked how we were doing. My girlfriend ordered some food. After a few discussions about the flour wraps versus lettuce wraps etc she made her decision. Personally props to her for wanting a lettuce wrap vs a carb loaded tortilla. The blonde one came back out and said that she was told the wrap she wanted "wouldn't work" on a lettuce wrap. Ok, so a reg tortilla it is. No problem again. My fiancé and I wanted to order a burger. So he walked up to the bar to order as requested and next thing I hear is the guy yelling from the kitchen "there's a f***ing sign on your table that says 'no servers. Order at the bar'" which I thought was funny because he was at the bar... After seeing all the seahawk signage with pot leaves on it, my fiancé asked him If he indulged in 420. Not to be rude or to be nosey, but to offer to share. Granted he doesn't see the harm in asking folks, and doesn't understand why some folks get so upset about it... He's pretty liberal, just in case you couldn't tell... Next thing I hear is "you all walked here drunk!!" Really? After a whole day of hiking and driving, we are drunk? The only thing we'd had to drink was 2 jugs of water. Gods honest truth. At that point chests got inflated and words were said from both parties, and we were asked to leave. Honestly, I'm not mad that we were asked to leave, I'm upset that we were accused of being drunk from the moment we walked in. We offered to pay for our drinks and food, and were told to just "f***ing leave" Guess sitting down at a table and playing pool makes us drunkards. On the plus side, the fries are good and free...
