Really great food and service and they never disappoint. I went there with my family last night for my birthday dinner. I started with the house salad with fresh blue cheese dressing followed by their out of this world French onion soup which is served piping hot as it should. My entree is their whopping 18 oz ribeye steak cooked to a perfect medium rare with beautifully cooked summer squash with carrots and garlic mashed potatoes. A must try for dessert is their crème brûlée, just try it. My brother in law's birthday is in 2 weeks and I know where we're celebrating. The service is above and beyond top notch, all the servers are super friendly and helpful. They treat you like a family member. I love it that we live only 2 1/2 miles from them :-) read more

What I like best about the Barn is the wide selection of foods, a true Americana restaurant. The bar is likely the largest in Ramona, and they'll make whatever you want. I can't say I was like overly impressed. We went to the bartender and she seemed a bit snarky. I get that you're busy and understaffed probably but that's not a reason to be nearly rude. I asked if the sour strawberry crush was beer and instead of answering yes or no she handed me a sample. It was beer. We had a party of five and we paid for our drinks each separately and she acted like this was a huge hassle. I actually apologized to her since she seemed so put out. Someone in my party asked if she could make a whiskey smash and her response was not right now. One person from our party went to the other side of the bar to get a nicer bartender. (Later she did come to our table twice to clear up the drink situation so she didn't make them wrong because the person who wanted a whiskey smash DID order it-again and accidentally ordered it with peanut butter whiskey!). But her sour strawberry crush attitude really set the tone for our evening. We got sat at our table and our server seemed pretty unorganized. I don't normally care for Mac and cheese but the menu description sounded so awesome when in fact it was mediocre and watery at best. It only had a smattering of panko crumbs. We ordered the bruschetta crostini as an appetizer and that actually made it to our table AFTER our meals. We had forgotten we ordered it. Two people ordered the Western burgers and they liked those. I have given this place multiple chances because I really like the energy and the customers. As to the service and staff, it's a problem. Recently I took my son here on his 18th birthday, which ended up to be a Thursday line dancing night. We arrived at 7:30 and ordered quickly. At 8pm no food was on the table so I asked how our order was coming along. It should be up soon, I was told. No problem. At 8:15 I asked again and was told any minute now. I thanked my server and asked for the manager, who did not visit my table at all. The server then came back and told me that the manager knows about my order not coming out but the normal wait time for food is 25 to 35 minutes, but tonight things are backed up. At 8:30 my son and I got up and left and ended up getting burritos. Disappointing for sure. Great music and dancing and patrons but management is ruining what could be an amazing place. With the crowds that they are getting, the owner might consider bringing in an experienced manager to make this place great. I'm still hopeful. read more

Just so everyone is aware, if you go to The Barn on Thursday nights and get a reservation everyone at your table has to order or they won't let you sit. We were there for 10 minutes and while taking the lesson our kids were sitting at the table and a very rude waitress came up to them and said if you do not order in the next few minutes you can not sit at the table. They also said they have to be big meals not appetizers or drinks. The waitress made a few of our kids cry and when we asked to speak to the manager they said they were to busy to talk to us. I am beyond upset as we go every week and I bring people line dancing all the time. read more

I think 3 Stars is fair for this establishment. The service was top notch unlike what many of the reviewers complained about. I received more sodas than I could count which was awesome. Again, very good service. I ordered the Western burger which was tasty, but my wife got the salmon which wasn't cooked the way she expected. The fish was fresh but not marinated in the way she expected. Also, she requested a substitution of the side from mashed potatoes to finger potatoes and was charged $3. When the bill came out she wished she had ordered the mashed potatoes as the finger potatoes weren't worth the extra $. I kind of mentioned it and was basically told that's the way it was. Although the service was phenomenal I don't think we'd come back due to the extra charge for substituting a side. Seems like a poor customer service policy to me that the owner should correct. read more

We have been to the Barn twice now and both times they had run out of items on the menu, so I can't give it 5 stars yet. Our waitress Leslie was awesome and the manager Kevin was great also. We had the lamb, Mac and cheese and the BBQ pizza. All of it was pretty good, but when we hade the French onion soup it was oily. It is fun to watch the line dancing. Food was terrible. Service & Ambiance where good. I order the Cannelloi which my stomach regrets. I started to feel nausea half way thru our meal. I realize I should have not order Italian food from what appeared to be a western bar. Half of the menu was Italian and they have a pizza oven, so I didn't think about my choice. My wife ordered the western barn burger medium and it was a well done cooked burger. She said she would rather have a burger thru a drive thru next time. We have really enjoyed going up to the barn from San Diego on most Thursdays to dance. It's a beautiful and friendly space, really makes you feel at home. Danielle is usually our bar tender and she's AMAZING. We walk in and she knows our order and only after about two weeks. This place reminds me so much of Incahoots and I highly recommend it. The energy with the outdoor dancing is family friendly and refreshingly fun. If you haven't tried this place then give it a go. read more

First things first... SERVICE was incredible. I mean 110% above and beyond. Leslie took such good care of us. We are new in town and she made us feel like we were family. Leslie knows everything about the drinks, pairings and was proficient in making recommendations. Literally the best service I've had in years. Now for the extraordinary food. I had the lobster raviolis, my sons had the vodka pasta with chicken and salmon. Everything morsel was DELISH!! We indulged in a shrimp cocktail and garlic bread, too. Note to self, big servings of food so if you fill up on bread take your time cuz your gonna need time to digest all that yumminess! Five stars for NOT no frozen food. Nadia zip - legit everything is FRESH! We ordered fabulous drinks from the full bar and each one was amazing and not watered down. Rounded out the meal with a Limoncello cake. Tried The Barn for the first time. We were happy to see a new place for breakfast. Loved the western decor and music. We were hoping to love the place and go for dinner, but we were very disappointed in the service and food. The server who seated us barely spoke, and we got the feeling that we were an inconvenience. After waiting 10 minutes, another server came to take our order. Food was out in about 15 minutes, but not everything came at once. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy ($15) and scrambled eggs ($6). I ordered the American breakfast ($14) - eggs/bacon/potatoes/toast. The side of eggs and the toast came out 5 minutes after the rest of our food. Also had to ask for salt and pepper. The toast was only one small piece of sourdough. The potatoes had more bell peppers and onions than potatoes. We were not offered refills on drinks (coffee $4 and diet Coke $3). The bloody Mary was good and average price $10. The server brought the check and we waited for someone to return so we could pay with our credit card. After 10-15 minutes of waiting, we just paid cash and left. Overall, food was OK, but nothing special. Prices were high for the portions. Servers did not give off a welcoming vibe, and did not seem happy to be there. We will not be returning. read more

4/21/24 my husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner. it was our first visit. for a Sunday it was a little quiet but we went early. the owner Vito came by our table and asked how the food was, we spent the next 30 minutes taking with him to find out he is a local man who grew up in San Diego. has owned Da Boyz pizzas. he such a nice man, he gave us a glass of champagne and dessert was on the house. they have live bands and the atmosphere is very chill but nice. I've been to The Barn 5 times. Two times it was ok. However, three of those times, I've had terrible service. Not because of the waitress; they've been great. It's because of the kitchen. On these 3 occasions, we've had to wait over an hour for our food. During our last visit, we ordered crabcakes as an appetizer. It took the kitchen 25 minutes to communicate to the waitress that they were out of them. Then it was another 45 minutes until we received our food. The steak was still mooing because it was barely cooked. There was a band setting up while we were eating dinner. Their sound system kept emitting screeching feedback, and it took them over 30 minutes to figure it out. That did not help our dining experience. I think that was our last time eating there. read more

Beware if you're of color, I went with my family a Sunday afternoon when it was quite literally dead. We placed our orders only for it to come out wayyy later almost 40 minutes later. We asked if they had lemonade or any type of non alcoholic beverages for the minors in the family, the server curtly said no and didn't offer any replacement drinks since it wasn't stated on the menu. We only go to find out when we saw a young boy with a nonalcoholic drink other than water. When we go to ask about our food they said that the lamb chop takes the longest to cook and understandable if it weren't for the fact that it took 40 minutes and that the rest of the orders were quick because they were pastas. The server would ignore our table not once check in until we spoke up about our food taking long, and we saw how she clearly would check in repeatedly with other tables that were white. We were the only table of color in her section, one out of maybe three tables in total. But yet her attitude was very different between us and the rest of the tables.
