I've been coming to The Bake Shoppe for 20 years and it never disappoints. Seriously, everything is amazing. It's a family-owned and operated business, and I love that it's been passed down from generation to generation. You can really feel the care they put into everything. The service is amazing, and I absolutely love the ladies that always take care of me. The ambience is great too -- it's usually quiet and never really packed (except maybe on Paczki Day, and that's about it ). Their puffs are so good, and their donuts are beyond amazing -- the dough is seriously like no other. They recently made peanut butter & jelly brownies and they are phenomenal. I really hope they keep those around as a weekly (or everyday!) special because they're that good. Their cannolis are amazing, cookies are great, and the turnovers are so good too. The caramel apple danishes are to die for, and the banana caramel cream pies are delicious. The mini cheesecakes are amazing too. They also make pepperoni rolls stuffed with cheese, sauce, and pepperoni and OMG they are so good. Their Cajun homemade bread is amazing too. We found this bakery on a drive in the country and have been there multiple times since! It's a quaint atmosphere with so many choices of all kinds of goodies, pastries and donuts. They have beautiful cakes in a display to choose from. They taste as good as they look. A very friendly & informative staff. The bakery has much more than a traditional everything! The more I looked around, the more impressed I was. There are take and bake pizzas, pepperoni rolls, Italian Bread, cheesecakes, Tiramisu, and cookies, donuts. Cookies and donuts that are not like everyone else's. Pizza or pizza rolls for a Saturday night? - Have it. Hamburger buns and sub rolls for Fridays? - On it. A birthday cake for your grandma - Look no further! You can find any variety of pies, cakes, cream puffs, cookies, coffee cakes, tarts, and brownies/bars. They have a limited amount of "take and bake" pizzas (wish they had more toppings than pepperoni), garlic bread and pizza rolls. I've been twice and I really like the apricot turnovers! My husband likes the strawberry! The doughnuts look amazing. I will visit in the near future to try them out! Staff are super kind! Prices are reasonable. Four stars from someone not even into sweets! So we buy stuff here basically to give away to friends and customers.. and litterally everybody we bring them to loves their donuts! It's actually a problem because now people are asking for them, and they are a little out of our way.. ha! I will say that the lemon filled donut is pretty great! It is a raised, glazed donut filled with a tangy lemon filling. Right up my alley. My husband is into their long donuts filled with cream.. too much actually for somebody with T2 diabetes. Lol. They also have cream puffs that he is in love with. Aside from donuts they also have cookies, cakes, bread, pastries and some drinks- including my favorite Calders chocolate milk. In a word . . . Outstanding. I was on my way to a dinner cooked by my SO and I needed to bring something equally wonderful. I didn't plan well and needed a bakery somewhere downriver. The Bake Shoppe was a wonderful find. It has a Belleville address but it is not even close to "downtown" Belleville. It's south on Haggerty when it becomes Savage Road. For me it's in the middle of nowhere and absolutely worth the drive. The bakery has an excellent selection of cakes, donuts, cookies and other freshly baked sweet treats. It is all homemade and everything looked terrific. I decided upon the apple strudel and applaud myself for the choice. The taste was outstanding with a perfect combination of cinnamon apples and delicate pastry. If I like walnuts, I would have chosen the Hungarian coffee cake, which looked so good. I will definitely be back and update with additional "tips". Take the drive, my yelper compatriots. You will not be disappointed. read more

I bought some Paczkis from another local G &G, I guess they don't know really what a Paczki really is. What they sold me was a jelly doughnut. A Paczki is so much more than a jelly doughnut. HOLY COW. WOW! Tony drove by here on a whim and picked up some treats for me while I was working at home. The pineapple upside down cake was moist and tasty, along with the cinnamon/pecan bun. It was so amazing, I couldn't wait to try it again when my sweet tooth kicked in. On Saturday, I made a trip out there in the early morning. They have TONS of options for being such a small storefront. The portion of the brownie they give you is ENORMOUS! Sadly, the pineapple upside down cake was dry this time- so not sure if I got a day-old one or just a bad batch. I'm willing to give that a pass since everything else (the other items and the service) were great! read more

Wow, where has this place been all my life? It has cost me at least 30 more minutes on the elliptical three times a week because their decadent goodness goes right to my backside! I love a local, small bakery and when G&G Kneads closed, I was bummed. A neighbor told me about The Bake Shop and I ventured over one Sunday morning, yes Sunday. I was greeted by a friendly person who was patient as I browsed the goodies in wonderment while salivating like Pavlov's dog. I went with the pineapple upside down cake, sticky bun and a chocolate covered confection I will affectionately name chococrackalicious. It was chocolate cake with a dollop of german chocolate frosting covered with a fudgy chocolate ganache, not for the faint of heart! Those sneaky bakers had me hooked and now every Sunday I'm trolling the bakery cases trying something new and everything, seriously, EVERYTHING has been amazing. I come from "The Valley" in California, and with almost 2 million people living there you can imagine that at just about every intersection you will find 2 or 3 bakeries of some sort. Not all of them good by any means, just plentiful. Well, I very recently moved here to Belleville and on a particularly lonely afternoon was in the mood for a comforting friend, so I followed my GPS through the forest to The Bake Shoppe. HOT DAMN! This is a lovely little shop and I don't want to call it the middle of nowhere, as my new neighbors may not like the reference. Everything in the cases looked like heaven and the choices I made were very yummy. I will find my way back to the little bakery in the woods as often as necessary to forget about being homesick. My sister-in-law told me about this little Gem! She said th sweet potato bread was good. And I brought just the one. Got home and wished that I had gotten more! This bread is so moist and delicious! I love them! They're so kind and friendly. I come in when I can, and usually try to tip. Their donuts are amazing and always fresh. Except of course on Monday. They sell day old donuts for half off! Even at a day old they're still delicious, and when a $1 donut is half off, I won't complain. I always leave with many items and have to wait to come back so I don't seem too unhealthy! This place defines "hole in the wall". Go anyway! It's literally across the street from one of the Lower Huron Metropark exits, and it's lovely. They have all kinds of stuff that I never even would have thought up and don't really know how to define. My boyfriend loves their cake doughnuts. I had a paczki there last Fat Tuesday and it was amazing, and the line to get one was out the door! That doesn't happen in the middle of nowhere Belleville unless it's GOOD!
