I like the Aztec Restaurant, it's not a big place, but the tables are nicely spaced apart. My wife and I have been here several times and even picked up take-out. Staff were always friendly and accommodating each time we visited. Mostly, we have focused on Fajitas or Giant Burritos, and both were delicious on multiple tries. It's kind of reminiscent of places I have actually been in Mexico, so to me, that's a plus as well. Lastly, it really doesn't break the bank either. read more

I recently learned that Horchata is not, in fact, an alcoholic beverage. I also learned Horchata is freaking delicious. Why has this been hidden from me for 30 years?! After plans for sushi fell through, a close friend and I decided to go here for dinner. I tried the Tacos Al Pastor and, of course, that lovely rice milk beverage. With the Tacos Al Pastor, these were very good, but just a little shy of perfection for my taste. I like that they seemed very traditional and authentic. Comprising them were protein, onion, cilantro, and a sauce. Everything was well-balanced. The onion and cilantro were not overdone at all and made themselves known without turning a taco into a taco salad. The sauce added flavor but was not overpowering. Where the taco comes short has to deal with the protein. While flavorful, I found it heavier on the acidic and salty side than I prefer. I was also unable to pick up on any pineapple notes that one usually finds in Al Pastor-style meat. I am not sure if this is a result of the meat, the sauce, or my own ignorance as to what makes a real Al Pastor. When it comes to the Horchata, this one was divine. It was not too sweet, and the flavors of rice, cinnamon, and vanilla (I believe), all came together in beautiful, rich harmony. Thanks to The Aztec Restaurant and, of course, my friend, this is now a beverage I will seek out every time I'm at a Mexican restaurant, and the bar has been set high! Finally, the location was cute, and the service was friendly and speedy. Alas, The Aztec Restaurant is a little out-of-the-way for me, so I wouldn't be able to go there very often. However, I will credit them for being a wonderful alternative to the sushi that fell through, even though the categories are different. The food was great. The drinks were exceptional. The service was also exceptional although no one else was there at that time.

I will start by saying this place makes amazing carnitas and salsas. I like the chipotle one especially. I usually do the quesadilla plate. The guac though. WOW. How much you get for the price is unreasonable. Absolutely ridiculous. Is the demand really that low that you need to price it up like that? 3 bucks for half a portion of what chipotle gives you as a side for less?? The prices are a bit high. Honestly don't know were to begin, have been coming here pretty often ( last time was late last year as dinner was not that great so figured I would give them a break) however recently went in with the family , place was clean, one other party eating 4 guests,one party getting ready to leave 2 guests and one other ordering 2 guests , only one staff member doing the hosting, bartending , running, bussing, and serving ? Looked at the menu and holy cow ! The prices have increased 2/3 times it seems in the last year .Waited a good 5 minutes to place our order . Started with the chips and salsa, the salsa is the consistency of water nothing in it no cilantro, onions nothing , also every few chips were stale , our dinner arrived 2 super burritos , steak fajitas, Burria tacos, first the fajita meat was cut so thin, like a piece of spaghetti and so over cooked that that they looked liked potato sticks from when I was a child, totally charred and dried out , 4 wraps but all the meat fit into 2 , even the peppers and onions were sliced extremely thin that they basically charred up from sitting in the hot plate , the pinch of lettuce and salsa that accompanied the thimble sized portion of guacamole and sour crème wasn't enough to spread on one taco !total joke20$ the 2 burritos have more than shrunk in size probably close to a half smaller than in the past , used to be covered in cheese , lettuce, sauce not any more ! K tried cutting the edges absolutely nothing but wrap on all 4 edges . For both burritos they cut it in half just to grab the meat ( beef) just enough for 2 fork servings .. price close to 20 for each one , the burria tacos used to be 3.50,4.50, 5. Now 6.50 each and only available as a meal of 3, nothing in them anymore you can just roll up the taco and 2 small bites later all gone for 20 bucks ? Even the broth was off. Drinks 4 bucks for Mexican coke and 3.50 for sprite ( fountain ) both over priced . Honestly don't know if it's under new management or ownership but Aztec is out of the rotation .. just not worth it at all ! Totally disappointed . read more

Went there with lot of hopes. The colorful interior and the beautiful pictures on Yelp compelled me to visit this restaurant. Everything seemed authentic Mexican until the food arrived. The spiciest sauce they have tastes like barbecue sauce and it isn't that spicy. In the appetizer platter, the chicken was cold (disgusting way to treat your customers with stale food). The fried chicken stays hot from the inside if it is freshly fried (or even refried). But I was just given the cold chicken tossed in the Buffalo sauce. I know that they did toss it in a pan because some of the pieces were a bit warm but I could tell that they didn't care as everything else was cold. Other things in the platter - like quesadillas, crispy nachos, taquitos etc were also cold. I could tell that these were made fresh but they were cold because the server kept it waiting for a looooong time. But at least they were made fresh. Chicken was definitely stale. Shrimp fajita was not okay. The veggies expelled lot of water, the shrimp didn't have the flavor. Imagine boiled shrimp over boiled vegetables, plus little spices and lot of water from the veggies. Disappointing... I am going to stop writing further because remembering this experience is making me sad. The only good thing here was the colorful furniture. Kids will love it, the furniture, not the food, unless they like bland food. read more

Went here on this past rainy Friday night Seated quickly service was friendly and efficient got Aztec margaritas was great. Family ordered carne Asada and mojarra fritta all four orders were delicious and another round of margaritas with a churro for dessert. Great experience as always friendly reliable service food always delicious. Although the wait time for the food to come out was long, the shrimp fajita taco salad was worth the wait as it was really good. I had my fair shares of taco salads and this one is on my top 10. Let me just say that I think Aztec is the best Mexican restaurant in Framingham. I have eaten here a couple times, but that's not what makes this place special. I recently ordered takeout and noticed there was a mistake in my order. I called the restaurant back immediately and explain the situation. They were kind enough to not only make the missing food, but they gave us extra food for the trouble of having to drive back due to the mistake. Have been going here for years as it is close to home. Ownership has gradually upgrading the interior and added outdoor seating with an overhead mesh to provide shade. Pleasant staff, good food, local feel, fresh ingredients. If you like TexMex there will be plenty options that you will like. Better for lunch as the lighting is too harsh at night and it can get crowded and quite loud at dinner. Prices have increased dramatically but that seems to be a problem everywhere. read more

It must be under new management. Prices have gone up significantly like everywhere else which would not be a problem, but... the food quality has gone down. I have been a regular there for many many years, but last week this came to an end. Ordered their giant burrito and it used to come all kinds of fixings on top and side. This time I got a pretty much naked burrito with some mole on the side. Great- I thought- they put everything inside (which is ok too). Nope. The burrito was mostly rice with a bit of the meat I ordered. I rate this 2 & 1/2 stars. The food was good but not great. I ordered a Grubhub delivery of fried plantains and a quesadilla lunch special with chicken. This is the meal description: "Choice of steak, pork, chicken or vegetables. NOTE: Plate comes with rice, beans, salad, sour cream and guacamole." There was no guacamole. The salad was comprised only of lettuce. A tablespoon of sour cream was on top of the lettuce. The rice was dry and tasteless. The beans weren't memorable. The only decent part of the meal was the chicken quesadilla as the chicken was grilled, not shredded, and the quesadilla was a good size. The plantains had not been fried long enough or the deep fryer wasn't hot enough as they were saturated with cooking oil. I ate one after using a paper towel to wipe off the oil. The rest went into the trash. The side of tortilla chips were warm and crisp, but the salsa was watery. Also, Grubhub charged a $4.39 delivery charge. It says $2.99+ on the Yelp website. My workplace is about a mile and a half from the restaurant. For $20.00 including tip, I wasn't thrilled with the meal. I'm still looking for good Mexican food in the Framingham/Natick area. read more

A bit below expectations. Might or might not return. Arrived at 1104 on Tuesday and was informed: "No cook. Should be here in 30 minutes." The hostess was very friendly while telling me that he was scheduled to arrive in 30 minutes. I decided to have a beer ($4 for a draft) and wait which gave me plenty of time for note taking. We have a cook! I can order. Got free homemade chips and salsa. The chips are hot, thin and tasty. But the salsa is red, has no kick, and is too sweet. I asked for salsa picante and got a container of homemade mildly spicy green sauce. They have no bottled hot sauces. The red salsa is for people (shall we call them New Englanders?) who are afraid of "Mexican" food. Ordered the $7 nachos. Nachos are my test dish in a Tex-Mex restaurant (which is what The Aztec is, in spite of its name). The red salsa is on the chips and only half the cheese is melted. They were just average. Lots of jalapeños helped kick it up. The guacamole was OK. + Kitschy Mexican atmosphere. Love the bright colors. + A/C worked well. It was hot outside today. + Patio. Had a great meal out here on a Friday night. They have outdoor seating that is mostly covered. When I went (during the COVID-19 pandemic), they had disposable print outs of the restaurant's QR code which took you to their website to look at the menu. I thought this was a creative way to avoid menu sharing/spreading germs. I ordered the trio of carne asada tacos and my mom ordered the trio of fish tacos. We both really enjoyed our meals. The beans and rice were extremely flavorful and real comfort food. The carne asada tacos had double soft corn tortillas and tender steak.
