I wouldn't recommend these guys, as there appeared to be a number of things they missed when performing my inspection that I feel they should have caught, including: - Electrical outlet that appeared to be improperly properly sealed (later identified by the professional installing my cable) - Missing door stop that caused damage to wall - Gas line cap that needed to be removed on the patio for a usable grill - Apparent lack of water pressure in both showers in addition to insufficient hot water coming out of the bath tub I understand there is a lot to check in a new home and it's a complicated process, but I believe these to be misses that should have been caught and would encourage those looking for an inspector to look elsewhere. read more

I purchased my first home recently and felt confused and overwhelmed by nearly every aspect of the process - except for the home inspection. Andy somehow made the experience as pleasant as could possibly be. He was easy to set up and schedule an appointment with, even replying to my inquiry on a Sunday evening. He was able to get in early Tuesday afternoon. He explained the steps to me cleary ahead of time so I knew what to expect. My realtor had never heard of Andy, and was pushing me to use his inspection guy, but I am so glad I went with Andy. He really knows his stuff and spent 45 minutes with me in the home explaining everything he found. Again, it was a clear and simple process. My realtor was SUPER impressed as well. This was my first experience with an inspection, so I realize my opinion can be taken lightly, but my realtor has been in the business for 30+ years and kept telling me how impressed he was with the quality of Andy's work. Andy also spend 30 minutes on the phone with my realtor after the inspection to relay him the same information he'd provided me. What really made me happy was Andy's assessment of the roof - he predicted it had another 2-3 years left in it. My realtor was skeptical, and sent out his own roofing guy, who corroborated exactly Andy's report. The day after the inspection I had a lengthy report in my inbox with Andy's recommendations for me to pass along to a handyman. I'm sure you can find a cheaper home inspector in Austin, but this is absolutely a case of getting what you pay for. I can't recommend Andy enough. read more

In 2007 I purchased my first home. The home was a 1985 bungalow on the East side of Austin, TX. Neither the 1980s or the area are well known for high quality home construction. The excitement of owning my own home was balanced by a fear of possible unknowns that only an experienced inspector could bring to light. Right away Mr Jordan went to work putting my fears at ease. He pointed out the positive things about the homes construction while noting the possible concerns. Electrical and plumbing checked out OK. Their electronic leveling tool shown one area that needed immediate attention and turned out to be project #1 after finalizing the purchase. A few dozen elective projects and 5 years later and I'm still in the home. I haven't had any major plumbing/electrical/mechanical/foundation issues. 6 months after buying my first house my living room ceiling started leaking. I had no idea where the leak was coming from nor where to start looking. Andy had a few ideas and then found the leak, tested to make sure his hypothesis was correct and recommended an excellent roofer to fix it. The roofer was there within days and the whole fix was quite reasonably priced. I'm going to hire Andy anytime something goes wrong with my 60+ year old house. Chessie came by to inspect our new construction home. While he was professional, we found that he focused more on code related stuff. My wife is in the new home build industry; she later took her community superintendent and project manager to do a thorough punch of our home, and we had a list of over 100 reasonably non-minor (but not major) items for builder to fix prior to closing, but which would take a non-trivial amount of time for builder with their trades to fix. Please treat the above with the caveat that while home inspector might be A-ok for most buyers, they may not be very thorough compared to people who have many years of construction experience. At this point, I feel my $400 may have been semi-wasted given the expertise we already had at hand. I did get a decent foundation and overall report from Chessie, reasonably recommended for the layman home buyer. read more

I am very impressed with the precision and professionalism that Andy brings to the table when performing home inspections. My wife and I were in a rush to get our new home inspected before the end of the option period and he was able to fit us in within a day. Unfortunately, the listing agent had put on an incorrect key box and we were unable to gain entry on the first day but that did not stop Andy from inspecting every inch of the outside since we were already there. Andy was able to get us rescheduled to inspect the inside within a few days and did not charge us for the second trip out to the property. He was very thorough and found a lot of minor issues but also some very big issues that could have resulted in a major expense down the road. He explained not only the issues he found but also explained how they could impact the integrity of the structure in the future if not repaired. I have hired other home inspectors and Andy is the only one that uses infrared cameras, moisture/humidity testers and many other gizmos to get the job done. He definitely has your interests in mind and if there is a an issue, he will find it! He was easy to communicate with, very detail oriented and brought his own tools and equipment to conduct several tests around the house. This is an update to my prior review. I did not include this information initially as I believed that it was an abnormality. However, I believe that this information is important for individuals reading the reviews. This company has little to no negative reviews and it may be based on the experience I had. After leaving my review, I received no fewer than 5 communications from Andy via various methods stating how my negative review would hurt his business and that "I(Andy) should be given the courtesy of speaking with you" and there are "very simple explanations...to shed light on the situation". During our communications, Andy explicitly states "I absolutely remember our conversation" and continually pointed to his high customer rating on yelp to prove that I am wrong and he has done nothing wrong because all the other reviews are high. Ultimately stating "what actions on your part would a refund prompt you to take?". During all correspondence Andy never disputed the factual assertions in the initial review just that it hurts his business. I then informed Andy that I am not interested in continuing to be bullied, and that I accept his offer of a refund and in return would remove the review as this interaction was not worth my time. Andy then responded that he never offered a refund and that I will "continue harming my business simply because you have not received a refund that I never offered". (Note: He contacted me 5+ times and he asked what I would do for a refund. Prior to his bullying I made no complaints to any agency, asked for any refund, or stated anything publicly with exception of the yelp review. I had moved on). Based on my experience, I personally wonder how many other negative reviews have been bullied or bought off of this website. Andy did a thorough, amazing inspection of the house we eventually purchased. He gave us an extremely detailed list of everything including cosmetic items, things that won't lead to immediate issues but should be fixed in time, and issues that need to be addressed with high priority. The conditions underneath the house were posing a problem and he came back once to check on how things were holding up after a heavy storm and then returned again with a lawn specialist to advise on how to fix the problem. My house was a brand new construction home and surprisingly enough there were some minor things here and there that were pointed out that I would have never known about. They are being addressed by my builder and in time before my closing. I was onsite during the inspection and he did not mind me asking questions along the way to educate myself on things.
