The Audio Nerd is one of the best record stores I've been to. Not it's a bit of a drive from me and so I can never visit as often as I'd like to, but I have never had a bad experience. The owner is very passionate about music and you can tell it from talking to him. He is friendly, was chatting with all the different customers about what they picked, and even gives good suggestions! I bought a record from a band I had never heard of before (Fox Medicine). They were in the metal section but it was cute and bright pink. I looked them up quickly and listened to a couple songs and told myself I had to get that record. The owner was chatting with me about if I liked them or not and I was honest about literally just discovering them. He gave me one of their posters free of charge! They had just performed at his store and so he had a few left. I didn't realize he was giving it to me until we were leaving, I thought he was just showing me the poster. That absolutely made my day once I realized he was just giving it to me. The variety in this store is amazing with loads of vinyl, CDs, cassettes, and even music equipment! Prices are very fair, and everything is properly labeled. Instead of me having to get my hopes up inspect the record, the front usually says the condition, pressing, if it's colored, etc. I don't have to waste my time inspecting it myself, as the staff has already done the leg work. They even have a bargain bin (wall) with great deals! Down on the floor was a box that had cheap project vinyl too. When I worked at a record store I remember teachers coming in looking for the cheapest ones they could find for a various lessons they had coming up. I'm glad The Audio Nerd has a box for people like them. The store is a little bit cramped with how small it is and with how much product they carry, but it is such a gem and so fun to flip through. You can spend an hour or two easily in there despite it being a small store. Live shows even happen here! They move some of the tables out and put a band in there. Shout out Hayden for always promoting upcoming shows there! And as if this place couldn't get any cooler, they also do punch cards too... just getting back into the vinyl game after a very long hiatus, so i thought i'd start checking out local shops. audio nerd was next on my list ... glad i went! loved their organization. bands are clearly labeled and easy to find. everything was well alphabetized (yay!). great selection too. bought the latest beach house (a tad pricey, but hey ... support local if you can). but i also picked up belinda and big country's first releases ($11 for both) ... that's cheaper than a trip to starbucks! what probably sold me more than anything else was how rocking their selection of used vinyl was. good pricing and variety ... i could *easily* have picked up another five or six albums that i saw. i was kinda interested in checking out their vintage gear, but that was a little more chaotically (is that a word?) displayed. no biggie though, since i was definitely just window shopping that. staff was friendly, place has a good vibe, they have a frequent-flyer card program (always nice) ... i'll definitely be back! read more

Came to check out the store about a week ago and left with a number of records totalling nearly 200 bucks...decent selection of used vinyl. What really sets them apart from other record stores that I've visited in the area is their generous grading that they apply to every used record. All of the albums I bought were graded vg to nm, and they're all in great shape and play cleanly, which is more than I can say for another store in my hometown of Folsom. Everyone we interacted with while there was courteous and helpful. Prices are higher than my local store for used vinyl, but I actually know what I'm getting, so to me, it's worth it. I was trying to replace a Phillips 3-disc CD player, which I had enjoyed for many years. The few for sale online were quite expensive. After reading the positive reviews, I visited The Audio Nerd. They have a good variety of used audio equipment and had a similar model. Steve was very patient in explaining the controls and allowed me as much time as I wanted to experience the various levels of sound. He recommended speakers which I also purchased. I returned later that week to collect my purchases and to again have Steve review the controls and set-up instructions. I took notes this time. I was then able to set it up myself, with minimal assistance and it has worked well with excellent sound. There are very few businesses today which deliver this excellent level of service. read more

This place is trash. They know nothing about music. They buy stuff for Pennie's and sell so so high. They are also so rude. Go to goodwill. Buy on Amazon and eBay. You will get better deals. This record store is a great hidden gem in the greater Sacramento area. I have only made it inside dig n for vinyl records a few times. The owner and staff are very knowledgeable about the music selections, the prices are beyond fair and the extra musical hifi audio equipment is an added bonus. I highly recommend this store to any DJ traveling through or living near the Sacramento area. Hands-Down the best local record store I've been to. I started collecting records over ten years ago when I got a records player from my father-in-law and since then I've been hooked on digging through the bins. The Audio Nerd is the perfect balance of great selection of bargain records and unique hard to find albums. Every time I go, I find new inventory and end up taking a stack home. They sale vintage speakers and other equipment, new and used vinyl, and DVDs in the annex next door. The owner is cool to chat with (unlike most record store owners that ignore you) and is helpful in finding what you're looking for. There are always sales going on and pricing is very fair. The store is COVID safe and well organized (which is refreshing after you've been to a bunch of shops that look like abandoned storage units).
