Absolutely love this place. Walking in feels like stepping back in time in the best way possible. There's such a nostalgic vibe everywhere you look at from the vintage clothes and shoes to the old records, collectibles, toys, and hidden treasures throughout the store. It's one of those places where you go in thinking you'll just browse for a few minutes and suddenly hours have passed because there's always something new to discover. The selection is huge and really unique compared to a lot of thrift/vintage stores. I loved looking through all the different sections and seeing things that brought back memories from childhood and different eras. The prices were fair, the atmosphere was fun and relaxed, and the staff was friendly too. Definitely recommend stopping by if you enjoy thrifting, vintage finds, nostalgia, or just want a fun place to explore. I'll absolutely be back! read more

I felt like I was nerding out in the store. Definitely a nice place if you're browsing and want to just look around. There were a lot of used clothes and vintage toys (opened and unopened) they had a room full of records It felt like a thrift store of just random things. The shop was definitely bigger than I thought it was. Each room just had so many random items. I was definitely overstimulated. Would be hard to find an exact item. There was a little bit of an organization of what was in each room but some shelves just felt like there was a lot of random items just thrown on it Staff seemed friendly. This is the 3rd location The Cave has (other in Folsom and the other in Sacramento.) I have been a customer for years and have to warn everyone that this location IS NOT a good place to sell. I came here to sell a cigarette neon light, 2 beer bar lights, 1 framed Star Wars poster, 2 bar mirror signs & several movies: they offered me $88 cash or $115 store credit. That offer is about 10% of what they will sell them for not to mention I had to wait over 3 hours to get this offer. Another thing I noticed is this location is very picky & somewhat snobbish so beware. I know the business is there to make money but there is a difference between making a fair offer vs low balling. Unlike the Sacramento location on Arden the staff here isn't as helpful. The quality of the items here are good but it comes with a hefty price tag. The store is located in a plaza so you can window shop while you wait for the staff to go through your items once you're done browsing @ The Cave. I am being very nice by giving this place a three star rating. For appearance & selection it gets 5 stars but everything else really brought down the ratings for me. If the staff actually helped me by answering questions I had in regards to what they buy instead of them giving a default response of: just bring it in... 2 stars today because i went in and was profiled by the employees which is unfortunate due to me liking the cave normally. as per usual the selection was beautiful, and the prices were actually really good for what i went in for (this time at least, and being figures/collectables). i will say the profiling only really came from the two female employees working tonight, they were following me around because im young and have a purse (i assume, god forbid); another off-putting thing they did was in the 18 min span of me being there they informed me that theyd be closing soon 21 different times (i went in at 9.30 to specifically look for black series star wars figures and they closed at 10) . im sure they just were tired and irritated they had to be there but it just felt uncomfortable for me because i was just trying to shop !! nonetheless the male coworker they had upfront was actually really personable! we chatted a little about the movie merchandise that they offer which was lovely :P i think there is some improvement to be done as for as customer service for those two but the other two were just lovely! read more

This place is so cute! I can't believe it's been in Roseville for almost a year, and I just went for my first time last week. Howwww? The people who work here are super duper nice and helpful. I asked if they had dressing rooms because I found 2 second hand dresses at really good prices, and I wanted to make sure they fit before I bought them. They said they didn't but that I could take them home and try them on. As long as I returned them within a week, I would get my money back. So, I did, and one of the dresses is SO CUTE AND it has pockets, and I love it so much! The other one was either too big for me or my boobs were too small for it, but either way, we weren't meant to be together, haha. So, I brought it back the next day, and the return was super easy and painless. It's honestly hard to leave this place empty handed. There's tons of cute things. And since Halloween is only 2 months away, I'd recommend people go there for masks. They had some really good creepy ones. read more

This store is massive! There's a lot to see here, and it's a great place to look around if you are looking to kill some time. Great selection but most items are pretty pricy, I can see where it would be common to leave here empty handed. We came looking for a specific comic. There's metal cabinets filled with comic books, but no rhyme or reason to their placement. We asked the employee if there's a way to know which drawers to look in, and he said you just have to dig through. If you were just perusing, this would be a fun way to see a lot of different comics. If you're looking for something specific...it was a nightmare! We scoured and after looking through almost 20 packed drawers, we finally found what we were looking for. Had they not had the comic, it would have been a total waste of time. I'm sure they don't want to put too much effort into cheap comics, I get that, but it was challenging from a customer perspective. So all in all, a decent place to walk around and see cool things, feel a little nostalgia...and maybe walk out with something if you're lucky. read more

So much stuff! Turn a corner and there's a whole other room. Each room is filled to the top and seems to fill every niche. Collectibles, clothing, decor, and Funkos upon Funkos. Missed some Disney merch that was limited time? They had a few things I recognized from past vacations. A great place to kill some time and treasure hunt. The staff is friendly and explained things well when I inquired about the selling and trading part of their BUY SELL TRADE marketing. Will come back to see how that process goes. read more

Dimple was organized and everything was inventoried in the computer, so you could immediately find out if they had somethng in stock Apparently the owner of Dimple had a kid and the kid is too lazy to inventory anything. Taking too long to find something since it is a xomplete mess? They will think you are shoplifting and follow you around the store and eventually confront you. BUT the GREAT news is that they will be happy to take your stuff in trade as long as you are ok with NOTHING. They will offer the absolute lowest prices for thing you bring in to sell, lower than you have ever heard. Rare Criterion DVDs? Fifty cents, sucker! Old Beatles records? Fifty cents, sucker! Where do I even start, first off the customer service is down the drain here. Most of the employees are anti social and will ignore you if you need help with something. I wanted to sell something and me and this lady had to wait so long for someone to even acknowledge us and I had to find someone for us so we could sell our items. Second off, DO NOT SELL HERE! They will cowbell you so much its insane. Example, you sell something worth 200 dollars they will offer you 20 bucks for it. 10% cash value and 20% store credit I believe which is a joke. Lastly, the goddamn cave stickers on some merchandise will ruin the packaging on some collectibles. VHS covers, action figure boxes and vintage packaging. If you want to find good quality collectibles, just go on ebay or Facebook marketplace. read more

On two separate occasions they have broken my items I have brought to them to sell. In the most recent one they told me I was being dishonest about it, and did not apologize. I tried to resolve the issue, but they protected their employees and told me I was lying. The employees there are rude. And management/ownership isn't helpful. At the Folsom location I was yelled at by an employee for simply standing next to a section of vinyl records that someone else had not put back correctly.I have been a longtime fan and customer, but now I will never return due to how I have been disrespected. They break my things, lie about it, then call me a liar and tell me "you brought it in broken." read more

Went back again this week, thinking maybe I needed to give this place a second chance. After all, what better place to find unique items than The Cave? Walked in on a Wednesday evening. Parking lot was pretty empty. Store was also pretty empty aside from a few customers trying to sell items for cash or store credit. Observed an employee counting a customer's Squishmallows. The customer also asked if the store would take "Funko Pops without boxes." The employee seemed to give an affirmative answer and I walked away thinking, if a company is constantly just buying items from customers and never selling them, I'm not sure they'll have enough profit to stay afloat. But maybe they are making huge profits, who knows. It just strikes me that this huge building is brimming to the max with people's Squishmallows and Funko Pops, yet they are priced way too high for most wise buyers. Perhaps there will be rare ones that a buyer will be willing to plunk down retail prices for, but I'm guessing most buyers would rather just order items on Amazon or eBay rather than peruse these aisles looking through everything they have. I came in wanting to support a local business but everything I looked at was just priced way too high. One item I picked up had a $9.99 Cave sticker on it, next to a Ross tag that said $8.99. Can't figure out if their management prices things or if their young employees do so. Their pricing is too high, so the piles and racks keep getting larger as more customers continue to bring in their unwanted items in the hopes for some quick cash. The clothing racks are still very disorganized. Yes, there's a section of all black t-shirts, a rack of dresses, but for everything else, maybe consider organizing by size? I guess they're hoping they have buyers who have time to spend all day just looking through racks of clothing of all sizes. So tempting to volunteer to organize their clothing... When I first walked in this week, horrible music was playing from the speakers. At first, I wasn't sure I would be able to stand being in the store for very long if they were going to play music like that. I don't even know what song or band it was. Just sounded like a lot of noise and yelling at the top of one's lungs. Fortunately the song ended and the next song started, which actually had a melody to it, and was bearable. Then a song from the 80s started playing. Such a strange mix. Is the person who compiles these songs bipolar or something? I'd go from walking down the aisles happily singing along with a song, to the next minute, wanting to bang my head and stab people. Maybe I just got unlucky and heard someone's rage collection music while I was there. Guess it's better than listening to country. :P The place really is huge and if the prices were lower, I would come a lot more often to support them. I ended up getting some new items at the front counter area (anime surprise packs and Asian snacks for my niece). Hopefully this place survives. Maybe someone in management will rethink their pricing. Yes, the item might look good but if it's a "used" item, price it lower and make a quick profit. You'll be lucky to get offered 10% of an item's value. There wasn't any meaningful memorabilia and the little they did have was all shamelessly over priced. Every location I went to had horrendous customer service. Employees get super flustered when they're approached; signs of drug abuse at Sac location. The amount of waiting to make such a simple transaction is absurd. Came over from Reno and made an appointment. I show up and they had no clue I was coming and still made me wait a solid hour for a single item. Sac location had my item for 30 hours and still had no offer. Item was obviously damaged in their care. You would think owners would want to open their market and encourage folks from Reno, but I'll never be back. More than 75% of their dvds are severely scratched. I find better clothes at Savers. The cd section is presentable but don't be fooled, they're over priced. This business shamelessly profits off people who are financially in a tight spot. Hope this business folds. read more

I've been to all 3 locations. For anime figure collecting, the only one worth going to is this one! I've bought a few figures here, and for the most part their pricing is fair. I collect One Piece P.O.P figures. They had an opened Mihawk for $175 that's online unopened for $223. (For context) A zoro as well, also a fair price. Perfect condition, and I was going to open the box anyway so it's a great deal to check them out if you display figures. read more

I have gotten into black series figurines and was very happy that I discovered The Cave. Here you will find anything and every kind of collectible and more. We took our 5 year old nephew there and all he said was "wow". I found a second-hand Wrecker from the Bad Batch for a good bargain, while my fiancé found a Kobe "Black Mamba" jersey that he really wanted (too bad it was not in his size, but still a good find). I would totally return for some treasure hunting whenever I'm in the area. read more

The Cave is like no other place I've ever been to. The place is a collector's paradise. Rooms filled with records, toys, apparel & shoes, and just about anything you can think of. They play a wide array of music and you can get lost in there for hours. I'm always on the hunt for toys from my childhood that I wasn't able to get or got rid of as I moved. I've been to the Folsom and Arden locations, but I think this is possibly the biggest one they have. I've seen others comment on how high some of the prices are, and I have noticed this in the last few months too. Two recommendations, the first is look for multiples of one item. Sometimes you'll find one item in one area of the store for $20 and another for $40 in another area of the store, so no two prices are the same even if the item is the same. Second is take the item to a staff member and see if they'll match a price off eBay; this is where they get their pricing estimation from based on recently sold items, or see if the employee will adjust the price based on a duplicate item you found in the store for less. Speaking of the latter, you have to be careful. When I found one item for $50 and another duplicate for $60. I asked the employee if they could adjust the price for the $60 one down to $50, they said no and so I asked what about $55. They agreed and took both to the front, but when I got to the front I noticed they changed both to $55 when the first one was initially $50. So if you're going to go that route I strongly suggest going up with the item to ensure they don't try and pull a fast one over you and change the price on the lower one at the last moment. I wound up only buying one instead of both when I saw what they tried to do. read more

Been going here for a long time and slowly but surely this place has given me the ick, from bringing in a few high $ items just to see out of curiosity and man the lowball offer was just outlandish. I can see how they get the items they do, it's one of two options either the person is hard up for cash or they simply don't want to throw away something they can get anything for. everything is pretty overpriced but you do find some good gems once in awhile. my main issue is one employee they have though. every time i come here i have to ask the same person to grab something behind the counter and every time they seem so annoyed. on one occasion they just walked past me while making eye contact. after i said excuse me they said just wait a second but immediately asked the person standing next to me if he needed any help??? i didn't get his name but if you hate people that much dont work in customer service. read more

This place is massive, and honesty really cool. The reason for the 3 stars is that it's WILDLY EXPENSIVE for what they're selling (many used items). For example... many of the used records I looked at can be purchased much cheaper NEW, from Walmart, Target, etc. Makes it not fun to go in there. I've been twice now and have left empty handed both times because I couldn't justify spending their prices when I can easily get the items cheaper. I went in looking for some Modern English and on the off chance that they would have a Tom MacDonald CD or two. I think they need to expand their CD area but that may come after they've been open a while. Looked like they were still working on it. There is an unbelievable selection of old 80s stuff which I love (I'm an 80's kid) And holy crap, I've never seen this large a collection of cute Japanesey type stuff like Sanrio et al. And for my heavy metal/death metal, loving family, this is the place to be for T shirts and posters and other memorabilia. There was a 'KISS' BOX OF FRIGGIN' CEREAL! I mean if nothing this is a fantastic 80s museum and I think you need to get your ass in there. Oh, one criticism that I hope will be addressed is the way the CD racks make you lean over superduper far to see what the hell you're looking at. Maybe if they just make them lower? I don't know but my lower back hurts still today from looking through CDs last night. Please fix. read more

About a year ago, after my FIL died, I hauled in @ 3 large boxes of vinyl albums and 3 large boxes of CDs & DVDs. After an hour or so of review, the gave me a credit for @ $25. I thought that was a bit low, but he contended they were not desirable genres or titles. Whatever. I confirmed that their new Outlet location that was opening in Citrus Heights would honor the credit. He said yes, that they were all linked together, etc.. Today we went in and they could find no such record of my info, name, or credit. I had a list of a dozen or so title to look for, but that cinched it for me. We left without even looking for anything. So very disappointed. I have a large vinyl and CD collection that I love to add to. Buyer beware, this is a thrift store, they operate on rinky dink thrift store policies. VIDEO GAME DISCS ARE UNTESTED - DON'T ASSUME THEY WILL WORK. Be aware of their 7 day return policy, they are not motivated to help you with problems after purchase. Once you leave the premises don't expect any customer service from them afterward. I had to call them 5 times today before they answered the phone, and then they refused any refund or store credit for a defective video game disc they sold me, since it was over 7 days since purchase. I was amazed by the video game selection when I stopped by here, this is the largest selection of 2000s-2010s retro / vintage video game consoles I have seen in Northern California. The prices on game stuff is definitely better than eBay and better than Craigslist San Francisco. I took home a Nintendo Wii U console for $40 without any controllers, and a Wii U game disc Super Mario 3D World for $10, plus about $100 worth of other stuff. It took me a little while to get ahold of a compatible Wii U controller, to be able to actually try the system beyond turning it on and off, and to actually play the games I bought. Turns out the Super Mario game I bought doesn't work in my Wii U, nor does it work in another Wii U I managed to find to test out the disc in. It freezes on the loading screen and the console has to be hard reset - tried cleaning the disc and on 2 different systems. No visible damage, must be some kind of disc rot. I called them repeatedly and after a few rings I got a recording saying "this voicemail box has not been set up" - very professional wow. The woman on the phone once they finally picked up after I called literally 5 times, said they do not test any video game discs and they don't give refunds or exchanges after 7 days, even though they sold me a defective product. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth after I was so awestruck initially by this store. It gives the impression of a store by nerds, for nerds, but in reality it's a lot more of a thrift store / swap meet level of sketchiness. Keep your expectations low accordingly. A lot of other reviews here talk about some sketchy behavior, just keep that in mind. I would still buy from The Cave again due to their amazing game console hardware selection, but I would make sure to thoroughly inspect and test anything I buy from them, preferably before purchase, or on the same day of purchase if necessary to take home. The staff I talked to inside the store that Sunday were all pretty cool, although it was a bit hard to flag someone down to help look at game products behind the counter. This is a great concept for a store, and with a little more friendly customer service after purchase, this could be a really successful business. Being unhelpful to customers after selling them a bad product is just bad business, not a good way to build loyal repeat customers. I would have been happy with $10 store credit on file for another future purchase to apologize for the non functional game you sold me, especially since I spent a good amount of money with you and told a lot of friends they should check out this store. read more

I ripped the Cave Outlet, so I wanted to give some love to my new favorite Cave. Insane selection.. some deals to be found. You have to dig. I love digging comics and toys here, and can find some hidden gems. I have ONE CRITIQUE.. and I hope the owners read this. Your internet is THE WORST!!! You're in a dead zone there. The Cave is a toy collector/Metalheads dream come true !!! So much cool stuff in one place !!! I was totally overwhelmed by all the oil crap they had here !!! Vinyl ...action figures ...masks from diff great horror movies ....dvd's ...tee shirts ....toys ( new and vintage !!) The staff were very helpful and friendly !!! I just found out they have 3 other stores up in the Sac area !!! The stores all have different stuff too !! A few things were a little overpriced ...but overall prices are fair !!! I was surprised at how big this place is. They have tons and tons of unique items. Very cool vibe and interesting things to look at. LOTS of clothing, but I was shocked they don't group by size. Because of this I didnt know which rack to go to, to find clothes that would fit me. All sizes mixed in together is a terrible set up. The Cave is a fun experience and my son and I enjoy coming here and looking around! You can find good deals if you search long enough. The bad: the music is HORRIBLE. It's screaming, extremely loud, angry music. The music in itself made me want to leave. Their pricing can be all over the place. I've found good items for decent prices, my son loves the hot wheels even though they sell them for about the same they are brand new, sometimes much more, but it's cool to see the vintage cars you can't find elsewhere. The records are overpriced for the most part. I found one I wanted, then googled to see I could buy it for less directly from the artist brand new. You need ALOT of time to look through things here. There isn't much rhyme or reason to the organization and they don't have any sort of database of what they have in stock, according to the employee we asked. So if you're looking for something in particular, you'll need to have a lot of free time to dig through everything. Overall, a fun place and I will be back! The Cave Thrift Store has potential with unique items, but the customer service is very disappointing. Staff didn't greet or welcome anyone, and the blaring rock music made the atmosphere uninviting--especially for families. The team seemed disengaged, which reflects poorly on management. I can see why there aren't many reviews; people likely leave unimpressed with the customer service. Hopefully management will improve. Here today and my kids and I were basically accused of stealing. We are brown, we are able to pay for what we need, and we have been here multiple times. NEVER AGAIN! My nephew took one of the Labubu Coke Blind Boxes from the shelf and later decided to not get it. We later went up to ask where the nearest restroom was and was then asked by the cashier, "You guys took three of these. They aren't here. Where are they?" I responded, "We did not take three of them and my kids and I do not steal." My sister later went back with my son to put back the one my nephew had and the same staff member said to her, "You guys took more than this. Where are the others?" She replied again, that we could pay for them if the kids really wanted them and reiterated to him that we did not steal anything. The look on my kids faces... for what? My kids do NOT steal and to be accused because why? We are brown? Because we were the only colored people to touch those things? Other people were there too. Train your staff better. Wow they have so much awesome stuff here, not so much new stuff particularly but everything from PS4 days and older going all the way back to Atarti 2600 and Odyssey2 consoles and games, plus all the models/action figures going all the way back to the 1989s, clothes, VHS and cassette tapes, DVDs and Blu-Ray discs, records and CDs, etc. Absolutely filled with nostalgia throughout the store.
