This is, hands down, my new favorite hotel in Boston! I go from time-to-time for work and vacation…read moreand have stayed in many hotels. All are good but Canopy by Hilton in Boston is a step above. Service was GREAT, especially Yanelee who was working at the desk when we checked in. She is why I prefer to stay at Hilton hotels and will not stay anywhere else in Boston. She was friendly, helpful and went above-and-beyond to get us in our room!! The room itself was spacious, VERY clean, comfortable and well appointed. The location was great, very close to the historic district and a short Uber from the cruise terminal and the airport. If you want comfort in Boston, don't look anywhere else!

Now the area is always busy and non stop traffic, but it was centrally located for the things I wanted to do. I only did ride share for things that were outside of the downtown Boston area or too far to walk with my mom. The hotel is clean, front desk associate Wensley, was always so kind and pleasant whenever I needed something or returned from sight seeing. I was in a premium double queen and OMG, spacious room, barn door bathroom, hardwood flooring, a seating area, view of the greenway, fridge in the room, and an overall very nice and comfortable room. It was enough space for us; we weren't stepping over each other and we used the extra seating area as a changing area when we needed to change for the evening dinners. My only complaint is with housekeeping, the room was rarely cleaned prior to 4pm and we would leave around 9am every day. We only received 2 face towels despite asking for 4. After going to the front desk and asking a note be entered we finally received enough face towels. We couldn't figure out when they would take our bath towels, we put them on the floor they would take them, put them on the rack they would take them. I have always put them on the floor and if on the rack it means I'm using them again. Either way, I did appreciate fresh towels on the days the room would be cleaned prior to our return. Overall the stay was comfortable, the bed and pillows were comfortable and I slept better there than at home. I'm starting to notice a pattern with sleeping away from home....maybe I should stay away from home more often! One thing to note, each floor has an ice and filtered water machine. That was a nice touch and it kept me from having to purchase bottled water and spending extra money for delivery of water.

I cannot say enough about this hotel - it never disappoints, but there is one negative, turn the lights on brighter. It is too dark, especially during the day. Everything is OUTSTANDING. Jean.

Pure arrogance. Ironically, when I initially called the front desk to get in touch with Melissa, the person was kind, responsive and genuinely striving to be helpful. FYI: I had to make my reservation through the aforementioned senior management as I had donated to a youth-serving nonprofit and won a night's stay as a silent auction item for $350. I am being told they are voiding the certificate for a one night stay and, to add insult to injury, being falsely accused of "selling for a profit": I sent them a receipt for paying $100 more than I sold to someone because I could not use the voucher myself as planned. This is offensive. I understand that the Lenox is a long-standing institution in Boston. Unfortunately, they do not have a "people first," non-elitist approach in their communication and customer service norms. I may not be a high net worth, "VIP" client, but basic civility and customer care should be foundational. This was my first time attempting to do business with the Lenox. I also have to note here that their "corporate social responsibly" (CSR) practice of donating stays at the Lenox to nonprofits is totally against the spirit of CSR. As far as I can tell, the Saunders Hotel Group wants the tax write off without actually providing hospitality and services. It's a case of all image/show, no substance. I will never stay or otherwise give my business to the Lenox. I advise others to stay clear if you want a values-centered, people-first hotel.

Otherwise, this is an excellent location-- across the street from the fantastic Newberry Park, very near Beacon Hill, great shopping location, and near a Deluca for quick snacks. The doorman could not be nicer and the front desk staff is friendly as well. They have a special hotel guest lobby, which is excellent. I say that because if the restaurants are full, you can still order food and drinks there as a hotel guest. They always have chilled regular and sparkling canned water and little snacks throughout the day, coffee and tea bar in the morning. Always a very nice touch. Yes, it is pricey, but you're in Boston. If in Boston again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here. We had a lovely room overlooking the park. Also, thank you to management with the welcoming fruit, wine and waters. We greatly appreciated it. We had a fireplace in our room, but the bellhop did not encourage us to use it. It might've been nice because it was very chilly when we were here just the other day. p.s. Always appreciate the tone and slippers.

The not-so-good: we booked a suite and were originally shown a room on the 11th floor which was very dark and faced a brick building. We requested another room and were moved to a much better room facing the park on the 3rd floor. Neither room was worth the $1k price point but at least the second room was an improvement. It should be noted the elevators are very slow and the wait was 5-10 minutes no matter the time of day. The bad: Contessa has almost zero vegan options... not even oatmeal which was odd. Even the acai bowl had milk in it! I ended up ordering a slice of focaccia, a laughable fruit plate (which was $20), and orange juice. Room service was no better in terms of option...one night I ordered the rigatoni marinara clearly stating that I am a vegan and it arrived an hour later covered in parmesan cheese. None of the above would have been a big deal at a $500-$600 price point, but at $1k per night our experience was disappointing. I doubt we'll stay at the Newbury again.

The environment was beautifully decorated for Christmas, like last year, and I had to take some pictures to have as desktop wallpaper on my computer. We had a very nice time and the selections on the menu were impressive. I went with the carrot cake chai black tea, mainly because it had pumpkin pie kinds of spices and vanilla rooibos. It tasted wonderful, like an autumnal tea, and all our teas came in beautifully decorated tea pots, apparently from Australia. The Four Seasons also does this interesting thing where they give you a liquor that fits with your tea order, to be added if you wish or drank by itself. I had a sip of mine and from someone else's, a bit strong for me but a bailey's one was alright. I'm fine with just tea myself! As for the food, this year's high tea was one of the best I've had. The menu was different from last year's, which was great too but in my opinion this seemed like an upgrade. Some of the food items included pieces of salmon in a little pastry, mini lobster roll, peking duck crepe, curried chicken croissant, a beautiful deviled egg, vanilla bean and brown butter scones, an eggnog tart, and a Santa hat shaped raspberry pastry. We even got some alternate options for a lactose sensitive person, so that's a great plus as well. The atmosphere was elegant and calming, and the service was great. The Four Seasons high tea was a very special holiday event, and comes highly recommended!
