    Rhubarb Oatmeal and Matcha Latte
    Susan K.

ORIGIN: Westport resident, NY mergers and acquisitions attorney, and civil rights advocate Alexandra Davern Korry had purchased the former church with the vision of creating a public art space. Unfortunately, Korry died of ovarian cancer shortly after purchasing the building in 2019, but her family made concerted effort to realize her vision. Highly regarded Connecticut restauranteur Bill Taibe was successfully solicited to open and manage a cafe in the space, bringing a talented team that includes Johnson & Wales-trained Caitlin McGowen as Head Chef. CONCEPT: The cafe serves breakfast, lunch, and sweets that are as creative and attractive as the community artwork on display. What's more they're delicious and invite opportunity for customers to experience Connecticut artisan products, such as coffee beans selected and roasted by ISLE and croissants baked by Flour Water Salt. EXPERIENCE: I've enjoyed the uncommon oatmeal combination, here topped with roasted rhubarb and crisp pistachios, paired with a matcha latte. When looking for something more substantial, the popular soft scrambled egg croissant is over the top, stacked high and flavored with chive, Pecorino, and Gruyère. (Chef McGowen's egg technique is legendary.) AMBIANCE: Sunlight fills the space, and cafe tables are widely scattered across gallery and cafe, inviting peaceful work or private conversation. SERVICE: Orders are placed at counter and brought to tables. TIPS: Access to the space is free and open until 3 PM everyday except Monday and Tuesday. A small parking lot is in the back. Swing by, enjoy art in the sunlight-filled space, and support Korry's vision for the community!

This place is so cool and the mission behind it is amazing! As a gluten-free girly I appreciate all the options. And the gf bread was actually really good. So many baked treats. Plus the portions are huge. You could easily split a couple things with someone. While you wait you can explore the art gallery! I've been telling so many people about this place and highly recommend checking it out and supporting a good cause!

I've been meaning to try Art Space Cafe for some time! The staff are incredibly friendly and were very patient with my questions about ingredients used to make their products. I love that they support local businesses by using their products (Westport Farmers Market, Flour Water Salt Bread). The cafe is incorporated in the art gallery, which is so unique. You just have to see it for yourself! Everything is so dainty and aesthetic. The coffee was great! My banana bread was oddly hard and dry, not sure why. But my friend thoroughly enjoyed her meal. Will be back soon!

The Good Bowl and the espresso ginger seltzer (for lack of a better term for it...)

Best food adventure!! This lil cafe is the back of a gorgeously converted church turned art gallery. The art is cool, but the culinary art that is happening here is unbelievable!! I had The Good Bowl, and it definitely is aptly named. It's packed with perfectly cooked beets, sweet potatos, wild rice, and THE CREAMIEST tahini - I'm drooling just thinking about it again. Every bite was a flavor journey that you both didn't want to end but also couldn't wait to get to the next bite. The Green Goddess Salad was also awesome - simplicity refined. Their drink specials were things I'd neither heard of nor even thought about putting together. Like, cold brew and pineapple juice? What the what??! I had the espresso with tonic and ginger syrup. It was like my morning coffee hooked up with a ginger ale. It was WEIRD but I wasn't mad about it! The only thing weirder than the drink specials was the art itself - and I mean that in the best possible way. Grab your best culinarily adventurous friend and go treat yourself to a lunch you will not soon forget!!

Super cute space and they've got such a nice variety of drinks and food! I absolutely loved the Irish cream cold brew and it was one of the best cold brews I've had

The peanut butter oatmeal was delicious, tasting like an elevated version of the classic childhood combination of peanut butter and jelly. It was so comforting! The portion was large and filling, so I ended up having leftovers. The concord grape lemonade was also amazing! The grape flavor shined and it was the perfect amount of sweetness. Can't wait to continue trying their whole menu!

Gorgeous Green Goddess salad with roasted Turkey and a creamy cold brew. Behind is The Good Bowl, which was also delicious!

What a cute find! Great casual and unique place to grab brunch or lunch. It's small, so better for smaller groups. They have multiple vegan and gluten free options, and you can browse the art gallery, full of work from students and local artists, before or after your meal. It's behind-the-counter service, but very friendly and helpful with suggestions and recommendations. I would definitely go back.

Everything here is delicious and fresh. All the pastries ; we've tried a lot! And the food and drinks as well. Love that you can view some cool art as you wait for you food. Unique and yum brunch spot!

The scrambled eggs are perfectly made. The cafe is quiet, clean and spacious. Patrons are respectful of noise level. I appreciate that the cafe used glass plates, mugs and reusable utensils to avoid any unnecessary waste. The gallery is adjoined and is always enjoyable to wander through and observe the art. The cafe is a great setting for reading, a quiet game of chess, drawing or studying. I personally find it to be a quieter alternative to a busy coffee shop and enjoy it!

Absolutely delicious, incredible place for a cozy bite or coffee. Everything is community based which makes it feel even more special. Put away your own plates, art all over from local folks, even ingredients from locally sourced spots. FSW bread for the win. Coffee and Matcha is spectacular. My father and I discovered PICKLED tofu here and it was a game changer. A small kitchen so you know it's all done with attention and love. This is by far my favorite spot in Norwalk. I always leave feeling calm, happy and FULL. Thank you Art Cafe

The Art Space Cafe is in my opinion, the best and most original café in all of Norwalk. The coffee and food creations use 100% real ingredients, are house-made and never include artificial syrups or flavors. Their lunch and breakfast menu includes delicious, non-traditional delights such as carrot soup, pizza baguette, and much more. Alcoholic beverages like wine can be found on the menu as well! If you didn't already love the Art Space for their delicious concoctions, you'll love that their proceeds go to the art program within the gallery, supporting free classes for local high school students and a resident artist. This café doubles as a rotating, local gallery, giving guests the chance to see the latest exhibit and live music on weekends.

I bought a Seeded Semolina bread, a Rosemary Focaccia, a Demi Baguette, chocolate chip cookies, an almond croissant and cheese monkey bread. I'll start with the most positive. The bread was terrific. My whole family loved it. It was fresh. Crusty in the right way. There were household requests for repeat purchases, and I had to say, "Don't get ahead of yourselves, they're too far away for normal shopping." I didn't eat the almond croissant or the cheese monkey bread until the next day. So I can't fairly judge them. The croissant was still pretty tasty. The cookie was fine. My wife and I both had one the day we bought it. We've had a lot of top tier cookies this year. I can't put this cookie in that category. The texture wasn't as enjoyable. It was a harder cookie than I like. It had less chocolate. The salt content wasn't where I like it. So we loved the bread. And would buy it again. We'd skip the cookie. 4.5 Stars

Small parking lot shared with multiple other businesses, but was able to find a spot. I was greeted seconds after entering, asking what I wanted, but as this was my first time here I wanted time to look around. Other than a party of 4 who were seated inside, no other customers were around. I had no idea they made pizza, and I took a suggested sample to try. Outstanding. Still looking and deciding, I was again asked if I was ready. I did know I wanted a sourdough baguette. OK. Packed. I asked about the Parisian sandwich (all the sandwiches are pre made and disayed in the case), to be sure Jambon de Paris was used. The staff had NO clue what I was talking about, and rudely proclaimed "it's ham". Yes, I am aware its ham, but if it is not Jambon de Paris I want to know so I can chose something else. Luckily, the manager or owner overheard and confirmed it was Jambon de Paris. Staff began ringing my items when I indicated that I still wanted 2 more items. Sigh and eyeroll. There was no one else in line or waiting to order. All items were expensive and no receipt was provided which I did not realize till I got home. The sandwich was good, but needed more Jambon de Paris. The tarragon mustard gave a nice flavor, while the butter provided a smooth texture to compliment the crunchiness of the bread. The sourdough bread and the filled croissants were both delicious, but also quite pricey. Sandwiches are not made or order, there is no pricing on many of the items that I could see, this is a location with lots of traffic and not much parking. On top of all of that, feeling rushed and completely disrespected as a paying customer doesn't make me want to return or recommend. You only get one chance to make a good first impression.

I recommend making a reservation online because it does get pretty busy on the weekend. We were seated right away with a reservation. We ordered a variety of things but my favorite hands down were the quinoa fritters. The prices here are pretty good for the area, but we were a little disappointed with the lack of flavor in the food. I got the avocado Benedict and my cauliflower was a little on the harder side and my avocado was bland. While the food didn't really stand out, the drinks and service made up for it. They have a great cocktail menu here. We were celebrating my friends new marriage and they provided us with complimentary champagne which was so generous of them.

(Visited 3/11) Ambiance [4/5]: Minimalist style design, it's nice, Theres also pretty lighting and a good amount of seating with an open bar as well. Food: Trix latte w/ whole milk (seasonal): [4/5] Tastes like a bowl of cereal from a cup. Topped with whipped cream it's really delicious! Tastes like a cup of childhood. Theres a good anount of cereal in the cup alongside the ice so it feels like you get a good amount of sips before the drink is done. Other than that it's still pretty good nonetheless. Sin-A-Bun: [5/5] This is very delicious, it's a perfect mix of sweet and savory. The smokiness from the bacon surprisingly compliments the cinnamon roll buns. Good concept and executed perfectly. If there were an option i'd choose that over having it on the side. Surprisingly I didn't notice it on the side on the sandwich until I was half way through. Still delicious though. Challah french toast [5/5] Tasty and sweet. You can't go wrong with french toast. I added strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and Nutella drizzle (each topping is $3 extra). It was worth the price it was delicious. It came with a side of butter which compliments the sweetness of the toast and some syrup. I didn't use much of the syrup but it was still delicious when I did decide to use it! I wouldn't order this because for delivery because its one of those things that taste so much better fresh in front of you rather than waiting to he dropped off. Service: [5/5] Fast and efficient service! The restaurant works as a team. One man sat me, The middle eastern girl with the long sleeve black shirt took my order and checked on me, and the white boy with the arm tattoos and pen between his ear checked on me at times, and cleaned my table while the girl was busy. It's great to see everyone helping each other and not letting anyone suffer. I Loved it! Overall Cafe social, is a great restaurant to stop by if you plan on going to the mall. Not only is it a 8 minute walk but you're also given a great meal and overall greater experience. I see myself coming back here if I'm ever in norwalk looking for a quick bite!
