We did quick stop before heading home through Santa Barbara to relax a little. We wanted to go to to brophy bros because of the review but the wait was too long. So we stumble on anchor rose on to top of a museum. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by the bartender, who asked us preference for indoor or outdoor, my husband wanted outdoor for view and soak in beautiful sun and weather. Then the odd part started; three server walked by us with no greeting, just gave us the quick eye contact. Sat there for 15 mins until my husband had to get up to flag a server down; he almost wanted to leave. Later we found out that they had some confusion with who supposed to serve us. However, it didn't give them excuse of no one tries to offer help after eye contacts. Hence, the two stars off. The cocktails were well made; my favorite was the old fashioned with big rock. We had steamed clams, oysters and fish & chips. Nothing really stands out to us, food wise. Probably not going back.

We are here since we were in area after Fiesta parade. Since we were in area, we decided to eat here and maybe sample live sea urchins in the pier. Anchor Rose is a restaurant sitting on second floor of the Maritime Museum. Raw oyster were excellent, fresh and clean. Steamer clams were good, needs more butter. Fish and chips were aaverage. Caesar salad was good, needs more parmesan. Service was a little slow. Overall 3 stars out of 5 star.

We took a road trip to Santa Barbara and after we went to the Douglas Family Preserve, we had lunch at this incredible restaurant ... the waitstaff was lovely... Roasted artichoke was beyond delicious... Cobb salads, Caesar Salad with chicken ... the chicken was so tasty with its grillmarks... The best French Fries! The views on this beautiful day of the docked boats, mountains in the background and the ocean took our breaths away! Highly recommended and the parking is easy ! It is pricey, but totally worth every dollar for this once in a lifetime view!

The view from our table!

The food has really gone downhill since last year. The fish & chips were very greasy, the seafood pasta had hair in it and the salmon tasted awful. Sad experience.

My bf and I went sailing to Santa Barbara from Ventura and stayed one night at the gust slip in Santa Barbara harbor. When we got there, we were so hungry because we hadn't eaten since the night before. We found and tried this restaurant because it's at the harbor and we didn't want to walk around to find a place to eat. Strangely We go to the harbor very often but I don't know why we had never tried here before. First, we liked the nice harbor view from the outside terrace table. I uploaded the video on my YouTube channel and if you want, please watch it from 11:11 on the following link. https://youtu.be/E8IfUGVkuiY?si=piewJglDX8EdcC_w We ordered a Clam chowder, Nachos, Chips and Guacamole, and seafood pasta. Everything was delicious. Secondly, the service was really good. All stuffs were nice and friendly. When we have a chance, we would like to try other dishes. There is the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum so it would be nice to stop by there after meal. I'm not sure but I don't think the restaurant has parking but you can park at the public parking near the restaurant.

The views are amazing! The hostess was so sweet and helpful. We had the perfect table. Our waiter was on it. The food came out pretty fast & hot. Now for the drawback. The seabass that my bf ordered didn't look like seabass the color was off and it was not moist. I don't play about fish especially when we're right by the water in SB. I had to convince my bf to send it back. I told our waiter we didn't like it and he said "it's already been made". Gee really? He told his manager and he came back to get what we wanted. The ahi was better. My mushroom tacos were amazing. The food needs to be more consistent and staff needs to know how to approach situations that arise in a professional manner.

Enjoyed a nice dinner here at sunset. Being up on the roof top was nice to look over the marina. Surprised to get a table fairly easily on a Friday night. Appears they have lots of seating Overall the service was great although it was a bit intrusive that once we were done and the plates were cleared that they actually came and wiped down the table and set it up for next guests while we were still sitting there. The food was of high quality. I got the fish and chips and my wife got the sea scallops. Portions were decent, prices were fair. Glad we went and good choice if you are down in the harbor area.

We were in the Sante Barbara for a few days and decided to have lunch at The Anchor Rose which I later found out that this restaurant has change names four other times, they're located in the Maritime Museum building, the hostess checked in downstairs then we had to walk up or take the stairs up to the restaurant. We were seated overlooking the harbor, btw is the very best part about visiting this place, plus we also waited about 10 to 15 mins. before the waiter came to our table, he brought only one glass of water, about 10 mins. went by I literally got up and found our waiter, he stater to me he would be there after he take care of another table, I asked another staff worker for the water. We ordered the classic caesar salad, which was just OK, the fish & chips the fish was well over cooked, the tacos de pescado which also was just OK and lastly a mojito this wea pretty good, we decided to get dessert somewhere else. I will not be returning here.

Sea Bass with a side of fries

Not great, but not bad, just...there. In all honesty, this could've been a 4 star review, but the place was severely understaffed for lunch on a Saturday. All were friendly and polite, but you know it's gonna be rough when it takes 10 min for your water to come out. Expected to be in and out within 40 minutes, was there for almost an hour and a half. My partner and I were not impressed by the food, but it also wasn't inedible - we've just had better. We got the ceviche as an appetizer, then the sea bass and shrimp sandwich as our meals, both with a side of fries. The chips for the ceviche were both crunchy and stale at the same time, and while the ceviche itself tasted alright, I felt that everything could have been minced smaller to better fit on the chip and that it was an expensive appetizer. It cost more than the shrimp sandwich! Shrimp sandwich was decent and had good size shrimps, one piece still had shell though. The sea bass was the most disappointing since as you can see from the picture, the plate was half fries. The mango apple salsa on top of the fish was pretty tasty though, and really, the fries were bomb; but if fish is supposed to be the star, I expect it to actually BE the star. Seating itself seemed flexible and nice, and the restaurant has a view of the wharf, but the patio is only half covered. We took a seat in the Sun because we were really hungry; but regretted it when the breeze stopped. I got sunburnt on my shoulders. Come prepared with hats and sunscreen, and still tip your server because they were clearly working hard.

Those…read morewho came up with the concept of Glass House Cocktails have collaborated with Slate Catering Company to keep Santa Barbara as a top destination. I originally found out about this hidden treasure on Instagram (@glasshousecocktails). After Covid-19 hit, businesses had to be inventive and crafty on how to continue to provide their skills outside of interior spaces for small groups. Backyard Bistros is a mobile Mercedez-Benz van that has table seating for up to four people with cocktails/beer/wine, paired with a gorgeous charcuterie board. I chose to reserve the van for my partner's birthday with another fellow couple. We decided to have our private experience on Stearns Wharf, however, you can choose the destination of your choice. While the backdoors of the van are open, you take advantage of a Bluetooth-capable Bose Speaker and additional booze for purchase, juxtaposed with a spectacular ocean+mountain view. The van is decked out with plants, pillows, a table, ceiling lights, and fun decor similar to a mobile dining Air BnB. The charcuterie board featured three kinds of cheese, strawberries, blueberries, pistachios, candied ginger, dried apricots, and gorgeous flowers with herbs. The two pre-mixed 16-ounce cocktails we decided upon in advance were Heat of Passion (habanero-infused tequila, passionfruit, lime and simple syrup--quite a tasty spicy kick) and Prickly Pear Cocktail (mezcal [we subbed mezcal for vodka], prickly pear, lime and simple syrup--perfect for a hot summer day). This was the ideal, relaxed time on a summer evening as the sun sets behind the Santa Ynez mountains. I brought along a set of cards to play, in between saying "hello" to curious tourists walking by before dinner downtown. Thank you Cecily and Allie for helping me plan this evening delight!

Located right next to the Granada Theater on the main drag, it looked to have undergone recent renovations and had a very chill but stylish ambiance. The hubby got the spiced rum old fashioned, which had an ice cube with a lion's face etched onto it--a nice touch. I got one of their tiny Negronis, which came in a cute tiny mug and cost $5 (it sounded fun). Both tasted great and we had a nice time sipping our drinks and taking in the decor. Alas we had to be on our way so couldn't linger long, but we'd definitely love to stop by again the next time we're in town.

The restaurant was busy. Our server was great. She introduced herself (Giana I believe she said) and helped us understand that the intent of the menu and dining approach is a sharing format. The plates and portion sizes vary depending upon the item. Cocktails: The Lark has a very interesting (in a good way) cocktail menu. Our party tried 5 different cocktails. Everyone loved their drink and commented on how well made they were. Food: The restaurant provides complimentary dill pickle popcorn (10/5) as a snack to get your appetite moving. This unique popcorn flavor was one of the best things I had all night. Everyone in our party agreed. We ordered 40% of the menu. The standouts were the fried chicken (5/5), the duck confit (5/5), and the pork ribs (4/5). Dessert: The chocolate pot-a-crème with banana cream (5/5) and donut holes (5/5) were both very tasty. We had a real good experience at the Lark. My only comment as a first timer was gauging how much food to order. We found the menu items in the Farm and Ranch sections were entree sized plates, while the Ocean section plates varied in size considerably. We consequently over ordered and wasted some food. Although our server Giana was helpful, we could have asked more specific questions to assess the quantity of food better. We enjoyed the restaurant vibe, cocktail program and many of the plates. If I lived in SB, I would have dinner here every other month and enjoy the dill pickle popcorn and the fried chicken with their signature Paloma to wash it all down.
