we went there for breakfast and I can honestly say it is the worst experience of breakfast I've ever had Although the waitress was sweet and kind, the food was awful It seemed like the grill had not been cleaned. Blueberry pancakes were totally burnt and tasted like grease. The eggs were overcooked and the sausage was undercooked. I don't know how they do on dinner, but I would not recommend this restaurant The building is beautiful, but there was nothing great in the dining room for bare tables ambiance They take reservations, but they're definitely not needed. Beautiful building located in the Ariel Hotel on Broadway. Scenic views of the lake. Sports bar on one side, fine-ish dining on the other. The ambiance was solid. The food and service was...why it's a 2. I'm a big believe that service could make the meal but our server was preoccupied to help us much, and the other server had to apologize for our missing waitress multiple times. Once was when our food had been sitting for 10m. The burger fell apart from the bun getting soggy, and the empanadas fell apart from being overcooked. The food was pre-prepped and all they had to do was warm it up and it was a fail. Scenic and majestic sure, but the worst food and service in a long time. Server semi redeemed themselves later on by taking off the empanadas but we didn't eat much and left the rest there. read more

This review is not for the food because I never got the chance to eat there - it's for the older bartender that worked Wednesday. I went to bed angry (stayed at the hotel for one night) and woke up angry and still actually pissed off I'm writing this review at 5:30am. I wanted to love this place. The view is beautiful and i always feel like Lorain has so much to offer for businesses . The service was subpar to say the least. We wanted breakfast and got there at 1108 and our waitress said no, but the other waitress at an adjacent table took that tables order 5 minutes later and allowed them to order breakfast. We asked for coffee and it took 15 minutes and then another 5 when i asked for milk/creamer. I ordered an appetizer, empanadas! I couldn't eat them. I tried picking up two different ones and they fell apart. My husbands burger came with a soggy bun and we asked for another and it took 5 minutes for her to bring us one. I can get past all of the service issues even the questionable food, if this place wasn't charging fine dining prices for diner food . We won't be back! read more

We arrived for New Years Eve dinner with family. I can't say that anything went right. We ordered a bottle of wine, Chardonnay, we're told they were out. We ordered the Pinot Gris were told they were out. They had no white wine and offered red, not what we wanted but we took it. It wasn't even on the wine list. Then we ordered a prefix NYE dinner menu. They had a New York strip we ordered, medium and medium rare, what we received look like pot roast. Our server just kept apologizing over and over again. We complained and they took the meals back for one they were cold and two they weren't as expected, dressed them with gravy and brought them back to the table . None of us ate it we did express our displeasure, not expecting anything just wanting the chef to know that this was not acceptable. The dinner came with dessert which we did not receive or get offered. We paid $55 a person full price for an absolutely terrible meal. This is our third time at this restaurant. We will not be back. We tried.. we left a good tip for the server cause it wasn't her fault. The chef sent her back to say that he would not take anything off the bill. What a coward.. read more

Disappointing dinner on New Year's Eve. We had a large group of 12. The food was lukewarm. The service was not good. The price of the dinner was $55. I would love to see a fine dining restaurant succeeded in Lorrain, but this will never make it. Silverware, wrapped in a napkin, was just thrown on the table along with the menu,and we had to distribute it ourselves. The waiter distributed the checks before he brought our dessert . I see another review from last night from a party that was equally disappointed. What a shame. read more

We ate here for Girls Night Out and loved the food, service and view. I had a filet which was delicious and tender, but a little more cooked than I like. The other ladies had chicken and one had a lamb casserole which they loved. The accompaniments were excellent. We didn't have room for dessert so will be back again and make sure to save room for dessert. read more

This has so much potential to be a great restaurant! The hotel is beautiful and the staff was fantastic but our experience at the Anchor restaurant was sub-par at best. It started out fine, the server took our orders pretty much immediately. We asked for a wine list, which she brought back right away but it was missing the actual list of wine... and then she never came back to check on us/ask if we wanted anything from the wine list we requested. We ended up going to the bar to get it ourselves. They did seem short staffed, so we didn't make this a big deal and otherwise the server was a delight (super sweet, fantastic with our kids, apologetic about the wait). When we finally did get our food we were super excited for the two rare filets we ordered. Uhm, yeah so one was med rare and the other was like cutting into a dry burger. The chef came out to apologize, which we did appreciate. They took 1 filet off and we were appreciative because of the sincerity of the chef and the wonderful server. we cannot say enough good things about this new restaurant in Lorain. The food was so delicious! Each of us raved about our meals. I had the Amish Butter Molasses Chicken. Everything on the plate was so perfectly cooked. Service was excellent, and the view is pretty nice. Reasonably priced for fine dining. read more
