On a road trip in Utah, we stayed for the night in Monticello, not much choice in that little community and had pizza at Thatzza Pizza, looks like a family business, everyone was very kind and the pizza was delicious so as the chicken wings, cool little place.

Pizza was pretty good. Salads were large, but had a lot of brown and wilty lettuce. Service was fine. 20 minutes for the food.

I got the pork pad thai and it was below average. The pork tasted stale, rancid, and gamey. The dish noodles themselves were just ok. Ambiance was calm, servers were sweet. They only had one chef, didn't have sushi and a number of other dishes when I went in on a Friday afternoon, though. Not sure if it was poor timing or if it is usually like that. Bottom line: This may be a historically local favorite, but it is certainly not up to par with other places. Apparently the quality has gone down over the last couple years, unsure what changed. If you're visiting from out of town and are craving Thai food, go to Arches Thai in Moab, UT - WAY better food for similar price. It is worth the extra drive, trust me.

I did not see the words New York anywhere on the menu, so I don't believe that Smoke is making that claim, but another reviewer mentioned NY, so I will too. I've lived in Utah 40-years now, but grew up in the immediate suburbs of NYC (Long Island) and while many factors make a real NY pizza experience, for me, the crust is the foundation. Somehow, despite the odds, Smoke got the crust right. Thin (perhaps a bit too thin, but not really important), chewy with just the right amount of flavor, something you don't leave on the plate after eating the toppings. Bring a traditionalist, meaning a NY pizza isn't supposed to be a casserole, I ordered a simple pepperoni and cheese pizza, exactly what I grew up with, and shockingly, I wasn't disappointed. I think you'll enjoy it too. Remember, you're experiencing NY style pizza in the proverbial middle of nowhere (with apologies to the residents of Blanding), so it doesn't have to be perfect!

The only downside might have been the pizza was a little under balanced on sauce, but we ended up dipping slices in extra marinara for the calzone. The calzone was really good, but not really what I expect from a calzone. Tons of toppings, but not much ricotta and been wood fired it had a different consistency. Got some half off treats from the bakery in the building for a canyoneering course up North Wash. Would definitely stop by again when passing through!

He says nothing to us. We assume an incorrect order as well, begin a slice as well. BUT Not the pizza we ordered as it was the initial one that was correct. We ask for the original one he took from us. - NEXT he RUDELY PLOPS the original pizza on our table and takes the second one without any explanation or discussion. Quickly walks away. Now my wife and I are confused and stunned at the disrespect (petulance) from an adult man . He proceeds to slam the wrongly ordered pizza beyond the counter and glances back at us with frustration. Others in the restaurant witness his odd behavior as well. We respectfully did address his actions with the cashier but did not hear back from him. We promptly departed the restaurant as our appetite had been gravely ruin by this occasion. Again the food was very good BUT the experience crossed a line of basic humanity and respect.

My cup was never empty and the staff stayed on top of everything without hovering. The space is more open and cavernous than intimate, so if you're looking for a cozy Italian date spot this isn't that. But if you want great food in a relaxed place, it hits the mark. We took some pizza home and ate it the next day and it was still amazing. We enjoyed the whole experience and would absolutely come back.

We were pretty excited to see a Neapolitan pizza and pasta restaurant in Moab. The reviews looked…read moresolid, and from what I remembered from our last visit many years ago, there were not many pizza options in town. We ordered the Salsiccia e Funghi, a sausage and mushroom pizza, along with the mussels in white wine sauce appetizer, homemade Italian cream sodas, and one additional limonata soda. The pizza was okay, but not the quality I would expect from a polished Neapolitan-style pizza place, especially at this price point. The mussels appetizer had potential because white wine sauce is exactly the kind of dish we usually enjoy with bread. Before ordering, I specifically asked about the bread because we like having enough to sop up the broth, the way you would expect at a good Italian restaurant. Our waitress said she would bring as much bread as we wanted. There were three of us, and the appetizer came with three pieces of bread. Given the earlier conversation, we later asked for three more pieces. The request seemed to bother her. When she delivered the extra bread, sensing her frustration, we said she could add it to the bill, and she told us she already had. That was frustrating because we had just discussed it before ordering. We were attempting to be more gracious, and she missed the mark with her response. She could have said ok, or thank you, or "no it's ok I told you could have as much bread as you wanted for the mussels" The mussels themselves were also uneven. Several had not opened during cooking, which is generally a sign that they should not be served or eaten. With mussels, the usual food-safety rule is: if they do not open during cooking, do not eat them. The FDA's consumer seafood guidance says clams, mussels, and oysters should open during cooking, and the ones that do not open should be thrown out. That made us question the quality control and preparation of the dish. The cream sodas were mixed. The berry version was delicious, but the mango version missed the mark. It was not sweet at all and tasted like the mango may not have been ripe. A little simple syrup, or ripe mango, would have helped a lot. The unripe mango soda ends up tasting a little like pine sol smells. We were also disappointed because the prices were more in line with what we would expect from a higher-quality meal. For the items noted above, plus one additional limonata soda, the meal came to over $60. I typically tip over 20%, but I took the extra bread charge off the tip, and the tip was still over 17%. Overall, this was not a terrible experience, but it was disappointing compared with what we were hoping for. The food had some good ideas, but several details felt off, and the service created a communication gap that left a bad impression.
