Very good pizza! real mozzarella cheese, perfect hamd-tossed crust, delicious sauce. And the price was right, too!

Once again..we came from NYC 2 years ago- staying in Moab and had to come back for 2020 year of covid lol . The dough is still amazing and specifically came for the Pizza turnover with green peppers and apple turnovers... yes.. we drove 50 miles for this only... keep on the great work... support your local mom and pop place...*takes a little time because everything is fresh BUT is worth it.

So, there seem to be 2 pizza places in town and this isn't he best one. That given I will throw my backing with the locals.

Monticello is sort of the red-haired step child of Moab. Much smaller with a few run down motels and fewer restaurants. I have fairly high standards band nothing compares to authentic pizza. So, this place ranks low on that account. Additionally, we were asked to pay ahead of our meal, while others were not. Accept and interpret that as you will, noting that I'm not of the standard race in this town. My child enjoyed the pizza, for what that's worth.

Unique but delicious. I ordered the Mexican pizza and my wife ordered the Works pizza. Both were big thick and delicious! The staff were friendly and the place was clean just outdated with a hodgepodge of furnishings. Definitely worth a stop when you're passing through Monticello.

Great service, unbelievably cheap beverages and warm apple pie for the night. The pizza crust was perfect! Good pitstop in the city! Paid $33 for the whole meal for group of 4, we went home with full belly and satifactory. Def must try the apple pie.

They were so patient with our complicated order

Such kind service, such good food. I loved every bit of it. We were 5 hours in to our 20 hour road trip back home to Texas and we're so happy to find food! I've never been in this town and not gonna lie I was kind of skeptical and had low expectations but was blown away! the store story is so cute and all the workers were so down to earth. Come support this small business and get some yummy pizza!!

We were staying in Monticello after a day in Mesa Verde NP. I turned to Yelp for dinner ideas. I'm so glad I did! The pizza was perfect - crispy bottom to a tasty crust topped with fresh ingredients and flavorful sauce! Though they could have used a few more hands as the dinner rush heated up, the ladies were friendly and accommodating. You order at the counter and it's delivered to your table. For six people with drinks and enough leftovers for the next day, we were happily surprised at the bill of just over $50. If we're ever in the area again, we've unanimously decided we will go back to Wagon Wheel Pizza.

First off, let me state that I was asked to do a review of Wagon Wheel by an anonymous commentor on my food blog page for Thatzza Pizza, a newly opened pizza competitor for Wagon Wheel. Remember folks, I'm a pizza snob and very tough when it comes to pizza reviews. I've traveled to many places in and out of the United States, and trying pizza whenever I could was always on the list of things to do. Wagon Wheel Pizza was established in 1984 and is owned by Susan, a former resident of Florida. When entering Wagon Wheel, it looks like a typical pizzeria with booths lining one wall and a few tables here or there. After about a 5 minute wait while Susan finished prepping a pizza for the oven, my order was taken, and questions answered, with a friendly smile. I was told my order would be ready in 25 minutes, but it actually took 45 minutes which gave me time to see some of my food prepared. The Meatball Sandwich consists of three frozen 2" meatballs that are defrosted in the microwave, mixed with sauce and then heated again in the microwave. They are sliced in half, placed on an untoasted 6" sub roll and garnished with slices of green bell pepper and onion. Once unwrapped, the sub cannot be picked up to be eaten as it has become a "hot mess" with the roll falling apart from not being toasted. A fork is a must if you order this sandwich. If you want chicken wings, you must ask for them as they are not listed on the menu; they come with a choice of two sauces: hot or bbq. They are baked on parchment paper, so do not expect a crisp texture since the wings are basically steaming in the fat coming off the wings and caught on the paper. While the chicken was fully cooked with a mild bbq flavor, the thick, gummy skin was totally unappealing. The pizza at Wagon Wheel does not use the typical Utah style of crust, namely focaccia bread. The crust is thinner, allowing for a browned and crispy texture. The sauce, while having a good flavor and you can see the herbs, is smeared thin; the cheese is thick, but not the creamy, gooey type that one associates with pizza. To get a single bite of cheese with crust, you must completely bite through the slice, or the cheese comes sliding off in a complete sheet. As the pizza cools, the cheese congeals more and the crust becomes very tough. To be fair, I have to say that Susan was busy prepping food, checking on the oven, plating food, while her two workers were either filling salt and pepper shakers, or filling a drink order for 8 people - 2 drinks at a time; guess the employee didn't know how to carry a tray. The drink order employee then completed the meatball sandwich; was going to put it in the oven for toasting and then changed her mind. That was a big mistake in my book.

The owners response on to me on Google Maps confirms that their employee was eating pepperonis and sticking fingers in her mouth while preparing a customer's pizza. As I was paying for my pizza, I witnessed a young female employee stick her fingers into her mouth and then into the pepperoni tub as she made a customer's pizza. I saw her continue to eat pepperonis as she prepared the pizza. I pointed this out to the clerk (a 20-30 year old male with a dark ponytail) and I said it was inappropriate and disgusting for an employee to be touching the customer's food while sticking her fingers into her mouth, and eating, and that I don't want someone else's spit on my food. The man got visibly upset and nasty, and said in a whiny tone that she wasn't doing anything wrong and it's totally fine to have your fingers in your mouth while making food to sell to the public. I was shocked at his response - it's one thing for a child to make a silly mistake while cooking, another for a grown man to not see the obvious health hazard here. We paid for our pizza and left (to avoid making a scene, and to support the employees working who were innocently doing their jobs), but threw it away out of fear of retribution since the cashier was so nasty to me. I've filed a complaint with both the city of Monticello and the San Juan County public health department. If employees are willing to be that disgusting in public in front of customers, I shudder to think of how they behave when out of sight.
