Be very careful . . . I very rarely take the time to write a bad review and would much rather write a glowing review of good service I've received. However, I rate this company with ZERO STARS, not because my paint results were bad but rather, because the company's owner, in my opinion, lacks business ethics. I solicited the services of a painter through Yelp and four companies or individuals responded. I sent out a description of the job along with photos, which involved painting a 3" steel channel underneath my balcony, about a total of 18' long, around three sides, and noted that the job probably would not take longer than 1.5 - 2.0 hours at the most. I selected That1Painter based on very high reviews and they sent an 'estimate' for $300. It sounded high but I know contractors will often estimate high because sometimes it's impossible to know for sure what they're getting into until they begin a job. Besides it was an estimate, or so I thought. The company sent a painter, Pepé, who did what looks like a good job. He prepped and painted the first coat in about an hour and told me was going to lunch and would be back to paint the second coat. When he came back from lunch he was finished in less than 30 minutes. But the final invoice was for $300, which equals $200 an hour for a painter! I also supplied the paint. When I inquired about the final bill they said they would talk with the owner about my objections regarding the cost being so high for 1.5 hours of work. I later received a message that the 'estimate' sent to me for $300 was the MINIMUM charge, which included drive time, fuel, and overhead! This information was not disclosed in advance to me and was nowhere on the 'estimate' I received. This kind of duplicity and lack of transparency in pricing is appalling and demonstrates a clear lack of business ethics. Who pays a painter $200 an hour? Apparently I do, because I paid the bill but I wanted to warn you about this practice, in my opinion, of ripping off customers by not being honest about their pricing upfront. Because painters don't need a license to operate in Texas (except a business registration) they can do things like this and get away with it for a long time. Then close down the business and open another with a different name and start it all over again. It's difficult to believe that any company would risk their reputation over a few hundred dollars but it seems this company did exactly that. Save your money, stress and time and DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They started a job that was meant to take 2 days, we are now on day 5 and no one is calling us back. Cabinets are in the garage, nails and screws left lying around and paper and tape all over my 3 bathrooms. We have spoken to 4 different people who keep blaming one another with no resolution and no contact from management. The wrong paint was used and it peeling even after confirming the type of paint with the project coordinator who promptly switched off her phone when we were trying to reach her. The cabinets are now damaged with dents and dings and just painted over, our marble tops were painted on. I am in absolute shock, STAY AWAY. read more

We were moving into a house with popcorn ceilings and realized this was the best time to get rid of them. We were moved in but barely unpacked. We talked with them about doing one floor at a time with us swapping floors in-between. Maybe a hotel would have been better; unsure. The main issue we had was communication between the project manager, the crew, and us. Sometimes the manager knew stuff that didn't get to the crew while at other times he said things and the crew told us something different (and more accurate). One time, we weren't warned with much notice that it was going to be a high fumes day and we probably wanted to be out of the house. There were some areas that weren't textured well, messed up paint, etc. We pointed them out during the walk through and they got taken care of. Took multiple months of calls, leaving messages and texts before contacted. When I finally was contacted regarding warranty questions, was told we'd get scheduled for the follow up work. Instead, we were ghosted. If they weren't going to do it, don't lie. No returned calls, no messages, no response. It started out well as they were quick to respond to giving us a quote, but once the actual work started and we had quality issues they would not answer the phone or return messages. And, they did a bait and switch with the paint. We requested Sherwin Williams paint and that is what they quoted in writing but then bought the cheapest Behr paint without consulting us and did not adjust the cost to reflect that. We had to closely watch each step of the way or they got lazy and missed entire areas to paint, didn't cover things so we had to scrape paint off cabinets and windows, didn't remove curtains and light fixtures or put them back up until we caught the mistakes. The communication from the estimator to the actual painting crew was not good and once we hired them the communication with us was minimal. I would not recommend this company read more

Their crew did a fantastic job! They were flexible when some of our other contractors got delayed and showed up on time and ready to work every day. We shopped around for quotes and they were very fairly priced. They painted our kitchen cabinets, mantel, ceiling, and some other miscellaneous walls. They did a fantastic job on the cabinets and repairing cracks in our ceiling. We would definitely use them again for any other painting needs, highly recommend! read more

That 1 Painter did such an awesome job from start to finish! Their price was extremely reasonable, and they way above and beyond just painting/limewashing the exterior of my house. They power washed everything, including my driveway, took down my gutters to replace the rotting wood underneath, painted my gutters, AND ended up redoing the limewash completely because I was super happy with the initial result. I can't say enough good things about this company and the crew! Joseph was super communicative, and put me at ease when I didn't love the originally limewash look, and Juan and his crew were so courteous and thorough with the actual work. The end product I got from That 1 Painter is a 5 star result. It took a bit to get there, but I'm not faulting That 1 Painter as a company. I had some drywall cracks to be repaired, and the first guy they sent out didn't do a great job - the first time he came out nor the second. Some companies might have left it like that and taken the 1 star review I would have given them. But Allan sent Jose out, and he absolutely killed it. He matched a really difficult ceiling texture in the process. I'm very happy with the result, and would absolutely use them again. The process went very smoothly. Enrique and Luis did a great job and were very attentive to the details. The entire process working with That1Painter was amazing. I originally contacted Allan in early 2021 to have my house repainted. He walked me through all the options of paint style, limewash vs. masonry flat, carpentry repairs, etc... and gave me a competitive quote. I booked them for the next month, but delays on my end meant we couldn't start until the summer - when we were out of town. Talk about a nervous homeowner, imagine painting your house while you are across the country! I hired That 1 Painter to paint my entire kitchen, cabinets, and paint over my bathroom wallpaper. They did an AMAZING job with my request, and managed to match the bathroom wall texture to the rest of the house. They weren't the cheapest option, but it was absolutely worth the cost seeing the results of 2 days of prep on the walls & cabinets. I just bought a 1961 tract house with minimal charm that hasn't been changed much since it was built. It still had original wallpaper in the bathroom, and someone attempted a (bad) paint job previously on the cabinets.
