The staff make you feel incredibly welcomed and the restaurant itself is such a quiet and peaceful environment. Outside in the patio is just as cozy and homey as the inside. The food....omg...was delicious! I'm such a pizza snob, but the pizza was perfect. It wasnt too heavy, the dough was perfectly toasted and the it was very light, but filling. I'm disappointed to give a 1 star review. Typically their food is good, recently it has been lacking flavor. On our most recent visit, the service was so incredibly horrible that we sat there for three hours and no one asked if we needed anything. We had to walk up to their kitchen window multiple times to ask for things or tell them they forgot certain dishes. I honestly couldn't wait to get out of there. Terrific place! I can't say enough! Mario and Thalil have done a great job of creating a warm cozy neighborhood restaurant. You feel like you are in an Italian trattoria. Thalil's cooking is excellent and the prices are very good. They can customize the meals for you and their nightly specials are always a surprise. Try the meatballs! Don't kid, this place is legit. I've had pizza, meat and veggie lasagna, chicken Alfredo (lots of garlic so a refreshing adult version of this dish), Gorgonzola salad and the desserts are amazing. Let me list the desserts I've tried Tiramisu and chocolate mousse which I took camping do they were a million stars! Blueberry pie!!! Chocolate bites!! Next up to try I'd the Pesto Pizza! Just call them, ask about the specials and desserts, order everything that sounds good, drive to Santa Claus Lane and go in to see this place. We were a party of three and the food got mixed reviews. My niece loved her fettuccine alfredo, my sister thought her pasta primavera was pretty good, and I found the eggplant parmigiana inedible. Based on the excellent reviews from other patrons, it appears my sister and I may have chosen poorly from the menu. I would have been willing to return and give other entrees a try if the server had been wearing a mask the whole time. I understand that wearing a mask for hours is uncomfortable but c'mon do I really have to explain why a server who is carrying our food needs to cover his nose and mouth? We recently stopped at Thario's on our way home from Morro Bay, and I am so glad we did! The restaurant is a gem--delicious food, lovely patio, great vibes, nice presentation, excellent menu, and wonderful owners and staff. I loved that the waiter was very attentive as to whether we needed more bread or water or anything else, yet was not intrusive to our meal. I also liked that the waiter was very well informed about the dishes on the menu and the specials board, which helped us to decide what we wanted. It was wonderful that the owner, Mario, came to visit with us to make sure we were satisfied with our meal, and it was very interesting to converse with him about the restaurant. His wife is the co-owner and chef, and she is an excellent chef. I had the shrimp and leeks dish, which was outstanding--amazing flavor, beautiful presentation, tons of nice fat shrimps. It easily could have been served in an upscale, fine quality restaurant like Chez Panisse in Berkeley and not be out of place. It was so good that I am craving it right now as I write about it. My husband and son each ordered their own pizzas, which were also delicious. We also ordered to share the caprese salad as an appetizer, which was one of the best of its kind I have ever tasted. Overall, we were very impressed. Every detail from the water bottles to the complimentary bread and olives is perfection. Part of my family is Italian, so being used to authentic homemade Italian dishes, I am very picky about eating at Italian restaurants. Thario's earns 5 stars from me and my family. My only regrets are that we were too full to try dessert, and we live too far away to dine here on a regular basis. Our first time at this family owned restaurant in Carpinteria. The atmosphere was calm, great for families and our small dog (we even got a water bowl for our Ziggy). Lots of beautiful plants, veggies around us made for a great ambiance. Mario is an amazing host and the food was delicious. We had Caprese Salad, Bruschetta, Chicken Alfredo and Lasagna!!
