Borrello's Pizza & Pasta ...ok. Having been a long time regular when Lucy and family were on Linden for so many years every thing on the menu was good, service was fine. Now that they sold and the new owners are taking a big bite from the old pizza pie, we are hoping they will make it work. We like to sit in the patio out front on a nice summer night. At times the roar of the 101 can be a bit loud and parking may take a handful of minutes to resolve. Order a glass of wine, lay low and you can avoid the radar. Nice chill vibe. The salads were very nice, very fresh well prepared. Possibly they can hold off on the extreme amounts of cheese on the salads. Seems they were overloaded with cheese. Pizza looked good, tasted nice... However we experienced soggy bottom crust that was not right. Sauce was too watery and not prepared for pizza time. It was challenging with their service, the owner was very nice and our waiter was kind. We did experience a missing salad delay oversight. We had to track it down. The appetizer choices were really yummy. They were served quick and the flavors were lovely. It seems they were short on staff in order to serve every customer well. The restaurant was only busy out in front on the patio, inside was wide open, plenty of tables. Again we are hoping they can work out the kinks, we think they will. We ate here last night and I can't stop thinking about it! Soooo delicious! OMG! We had a beet salad, pasta and a pizza dish on New Year's Day. We weren't expecting much, being New Year's, but oh wow we're we surprised! Homemade fresh bread, fresh veggies and exceptional, balanced flavors. The service was perfect: warm, sincere, attentive. The owner stopped by our table two or three times to check on us. No hovering, no up selling, just kindness. What a perfect way to start the new year. Get there early if you want Lasagna (their staple in my opinion) as it sells out most days. Everything is fairly priced and their specials are also very good. I'm in town for work this week (yes, during Covid-19) and finally got to try this place. I called later on a Saturday evening to order a pizza and was told they were out of pizzas for the evening! The owner sounded like she felt so bad about it and I told her I would try them the next night. Well, I called in an order the next evening. When I went to pick it up, the owners informed me they had to make a substitution, which was fine. The owners were so nice and warm, and gave me a free (and really tasty) treat to make up for the trouble (which it really wasn't). Got back to the hotel and opened up the box to find a really nice looking Insalata pie...it was delicious. Crust was spot on, gluteny but crisp at the edges. Generous sheets of parmigiano reggiano and prosciutto. Very good pizza. I also got the chocolate mousse, which was absolutely rich and decadent. I would highly recommend this place, and wish I could have eaten there in person instead of just having to pick up. The owners seem like wonderful people. Incredible. exquisite, fantastic food and great service, even though getting there can be a little be of a process due to road construction and the tendency of the beach club next door to have huge weddings in the high season that can make parking interesting. Pizzas alone are worth the trip. Not exactly Neapolitana Vera: crust is a little chewier, sweeter, and less blistered. Mine was topped with roasted tomato, red onion, prosciutto, and a mild gorganzola that added interest without overpowering. Antipasti are generous and well-thought out, in my case roasted beets, red peppers, and marinated artichokes paired well with burrata and pesto. Wine list is a little pricey for what you get, but desserts are likewise terrific. Debated a little about whether this was worth the drive, but don't hesitate. Completely worth it. Next time, must try the lasagna. read more

Wow! My friends and I are visiting from LA and we just ate here yesterday. The food is absolutely delish and the owners? They are such wonderful and warm people. Chef Thais creates food that made me happy to be alive. We started with her incredible homemade bread with avocado dip and olive tapenade. Then amazing eggplant Parmesan and salad with buffalo mozzarella. We continued with shrimp in a spicy pomodoro or marinara sauce. Next was this glorious pizza and I tasted Gorgonzola and goat cheese....the crust perfectly cooked and seasoned! We finished with delicious tiramisu and the most sublime chocolate mousse (no added sugar!) and coffee. Don't think, just go! 90 min north of LA sO easy day trip or fabby weekend. Server was the owner/chef. Super nice guy! It was great he took our order because we were able to ask specific questions about ingredients/how things were made, etc...We ordered their famous lasagna, margherita pizza, Insalata pizza and heavenly chocolate bites with scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert!
