I feel like things are as fresh here anymore. I'm not sure how long the drinks have been sitting around and then selling it. I always get their koi mon and I feel like it wasn't as fresh as I'm used to. They had a buy 3 get 1 free deal for these which maybe was the first sign to why they were trying to rapid fire sell these. They are also known for other things like easy Togo food and tofu, but specifically for their drinks and Che I probably wouldn't return bc the lack of freshness.

Good size parking lot out front. Pretty good size store inside with a lot of Vietnamese desserts, fried tofu, banh cuons and snacks to choose from. I only tried the che with tapioca pearl balls with yellow mung bean inside and the banh cuon. Both were good! I recommend eating their banh cuon the day of though. I saved half for the next day bc I wanted to savor it but the rice noodle was wet and mushy already. No bueno. There is a lot of che to choose from with a name written on top in Vietnamese. Luckily my Vietnamese friend was with me to tell me what it was or ask the ladies working there. Otherwise I would have no idea! Lols

I saw this place being recommended by a few Chinese. I got a soft tofu pudding with ginger syrup and coconut milk. It was really delicious. They have different types of Che which is a type of traditional Vietnamese dessert. Definitely a slice of Vietnam outside Vietnam!

Fresh dessert tofu with ginger syrup

Where else would you go for some fresh dessert tofu (tau fu fa)? Why Thanh Son Tofu, of course!  They sell their dessert tofu by the bucket (think the containers seen pre-packed at grocery stores), and they have both the original and pandan flavors. You also have the choice of including the ginger syrup or coconut milk with your order.  Since I'm the only one who eats the dessert tofu, I ordered only one container. The tofu was silky and smooth. I was surprised it was warm too. The ginger syrup is quite thick, and a little does go a long way. I skipped out on the coconut milk this time, since I was craving something more traditional.  The total cost was $4.00. They share a parking lot with several other restaurants, and parking can get busy/full. You could try parking in the local neighborhood if you don't want to deal with the parking frenzy during peak times.

Tofu is awesome Service is sometimes hard bc some can't speak English. So we just point Service has been great even if we don't speak at all. Love places where you just grab, point, and pay.

Chả Lụa La Do ($6.50)- 4.5/5 stars

4-4.5 stars overall, but rounding up for the variety of items you can purchase. Thanh Son Tofu was starting to get crazy busy by 9:15am on a Sunday, but I also went during Lunar New Year, and it was likely busier than it normally is. They have a small space, but managed to squeeze a LOT of items in. I came specifically to try their chả lụa for this visit, but they do not have many items labeled or priced. Some of their staff speak better English than others, but it's highly recommended you come in with someone who speaks Vietnamese, or you have photos/written list of what you're looking for. I ended up trying: -Chả Lụa La Do ($6.50, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=SyBMlgMoASlLZLAlMHot-A&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Delicious, and I thought the flavor and texture was perfect. The chả lụa was cooked perfectly, and I liked the amount of peppercorns- highly recommended! -Chả Lụa Xanh ($6.75): I'm not sure if this is the correct name for what I purchased, but it was on the receipt. This might've been cha chien (fried version of chả lụa)- whatever it was, it was also flavorful and delicious! Highly recommended. -Bánh Ít (Red Beans, Plantains/Bananas, $2/each, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=CQHC9ScOkwMVa37bHsscyw&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Not very good. The sticky rice was solid, but they didn't have much flavor. We tried one with plantains/bananas and also one with red beans- skip! I will definitely be back to Thanh Son Tofu in the future for more chả lụa, and also to try their tofu (fried version and sweet tofu dessert) and bánh cuốn. All staff were wearing masks correctly at the time. No indoor or outdoor dining was available. Parking can be difficult to find in this plaza when it gets busy during the weekends, but there are a good number of spots. It's just really squishy to get in and out of this plaza.

Yummy lemongrass tofu. I always buy 1-2 pounds and bring it home to cook with mushrooms. It's only $6/lbs too. Affordable!

"Combo" bánh mì sandwich. I think they call this one #1 Ba Chi

Excellent fresh tofu and to-go food, but the location is hard to find, and parking spaces are tight

This is the only place to find quality tofu. It tastes really good, especially the spicy ones.

The pork and shrimp net egg rolls were perfectly crispy and packed with flavor, and the bánh khọt egg rolls were just as amazing. I loved wrapping everything in the fresh greens they provided, dipping each bite into the fish sauce, and adding a little sriracha for extra kick. Yes, the fish sauce smell lingers on your hands, but it's completely worth it because the flavors are incredible. There's plenty of parking since it's located in a strip mall, which made it easy and convenient to visit. If you love crispy-style egg rolls, I highly recommend this spot. I'll definitely be stopping by every time I'm in the area.

Thank you for having this spot in ESSJ and I'll be back for their catering trays for my next gathering.

It was a really hot day on a Wednesday when we came by. Inside felt stuffier than outside so we opted to sit outside. We did an early lunch slightly before noon, but even on a weekday there were a lot of other customers. Devin got the #1 Special Rice Roll and I got the #10 Bun Rieu. I was a bit skeptical of getting a hot noodle soup on a hot day, but I figured it'd be great to find a solid bun rieu spot closer to me than my current defaults all the way in Milpitas. The #1 came out first and rather quickly, the #10 took a bit longer but wasn't a long wait by any means. The first thing I noticed was that the plate of add-ins was rather unique, I've never received perilla leaves or banana flowers with my bun rieu before. The broth had great flavor and this soup did come with pork blood cubes. I would definitely come back for the bun rieu. Hot soup noodle soup on a hot day wasn't actually so bad. I tried some of the Special Rice Rolls and felt unsure, maybe it's an acquired taste but I wasn't an immediate fan.

We ordered a large bun Bo hue, a large pho luc lac, fried rice with ribeye cooked medium level (as recommended), Bo luc lac with tomato flavored rice, and a chicken pho ap chao to share amongst 3 adults and 4 kids. Everything we ordered was delicious, tasty, and the portion size were very good and perfect for sharing. I was pleasantly surprised with the pho ap chao, it was really tasty and crispy and a dish I have not tried before. We really enjoyed everything but the Bo luc lac (shaken beef) was super tender and the beef was flavorful! This is a must try in my opinion! This restaurant is clean and tidy and has cute decors of bamboo hats hung from the ceiling and remind me of being back in Vietnam again. Staffs were attentive as customers entered. Plenty of parking spaces in the plaza. I will definitely come back here for everything I tried during my visit and to try more when in the area or on the way back from Santa Cruz. This will also be a great place to grab Togo for picnics or for hiking as well! My kids are already asking to come back to the restaurant after our first time there. The meat is so soft (I ask for medium rare) and it's cooked perfectly. It's super easy to eat and the flavor is so yummy. The red rice has a nice flavor and buttery taste to it. One thing I wanted to note is that I asked for no bell peppers and they cooked the onions perfectly. It's soft and pairs so well. I would definitely not ask for the do chua (carrot and daikon) and just sub it for extra lettuce next time. I'm literally craving the shaken beef plate again omg I gotta go back asap! Next time, I definitely want to dine in and try their other menu items as well :)
