Found this place through some research in Yelp and did not disappoint. This place serve so many varieties of Vietnamese snacks, desserts, tofu etc. I really wanted to try everything, but I got mostly their tofu products (lemongrass chili tofu, regular fried tofu, fried tofu onion and tofu pudding with ginger sauce). My favorite was probably the lemongrass chili tofu as the taste was so unique and I have never had this kind before). I am a really tofu lover and thought their tofu texture was so good (perfect crunch on the outside and soft in the inside). Service was friendly and they are taking credit card for payment too now. I feel like things are as fresh here anymore. I'm not sure how long the drinks have been sitting around and then selling it. I always get their koi mon and I feel like it wasn't as fresh as I'm used to. They had a buy 3 get 1 free deal for these which maybe was the first sign to why they were trying to rapid fire sell these. A hole-in-the-wall gem. If you're looking for some quick vegetarian meals, you have to come here. My parents always comes here for the lemongrass fried tofu. It's so cheap and affordable. I usually like to eat it with some rice and I add a bit of the Costco sesame dressing to the tofu. Oh, I also add spicy chili oil for some spice! Good size parking lot out front. Pretty good size store inside with a lot of Vietnamese desserts, fried tofu, banh cuons and snacks to choose from. I only tried the che with tapioca pearl balls with yellow mung bean inside and the banh cuon. Both were good! I recommend eating their banh cuon the day of though. I saved half for the next day bc I wanted to savor it but the rice noodle was wet and mushy already. No bueno. There is a lot of che to choose from with a name written on top in Vietnamese. Where else would you go for some fresh dessert tofu (tau fu fa)? Why Thanh Son Tofu, of course!  They sell their dessert tofu by the bucket (think the containers seen pre-packed at grocery stores), and they have both the original and pandan flavors. You also have the choice of including the ginger syrup or coconut milk with your order.  Since I'm the only one who eats the dessert tofu, I ordered only one container. The tofu was silky and smooth. I was surprised it was warm too. The ginger syrup is quite thick, and a little does go a long way. I skipped out on the coconut milk this time, since I was craving something more traditional.  The total cost was $4.00. They share a parking lot with several other restaurants, and parking can get busy/full. Thanh Son Tofu was starting to get crazy busy by 9:15am on a Sunday, but I also went during Lunar New Year, and it was likely busier than it normally is. I've been here a couple of times and many more times I asked my friend to buy fried tofu for me from this place. I like that they have the seasoned fried tofu sold by weight $6/lb. They also sell the mushroom and lemon grass fried tofu cubes that I love so much. The only thing is that they are inconsistent with how much salt they put on the tofu. Sometimes they are pretty plain and other times, you could taste the salt. The tofu textures are usually good though. Firm but soft inside and the tofu taste different than if you would buy the wet-packaged tofu from the supermarket (even if you fry them yourself). They also sell lots of other vietnamese snacks, finger food, desserts and fresh soy milk. If you're into tofu, I recommend to check out this place. Do not come to this food venue!!!. On January 28 came in the store to purchase a frozen sauteed goat at the price $29. The man works behind the kitchen told me the food is good to try. The package does have a label without where it came from, ingredients and price label. It looks suspicious! Asked the man who works there and he told me the sauteed goat meat is good but doesn't know how the goat is prepared and cooked. I called yesterday February 2/6, to ask them why the meat so chewy but the manager did not want to talk to me. Then I came the shop today, February 7 to return and have an exchange for others, but still they refused to accept and talked to me. The family came from Vietnam with English barriers under Communist regime influence. And with know-how to conduct business practices in Vietnam but doesn't work and apply in United States. Tofu tofu and tofu... Lemongrass tofu, mushroom tofu, plain tofu, silken tofu, marinated tofu....oh my! $20 got me 1 lb of Lemongrass tofu ($6 per lb) and lots of mushroom tofu. Between the 4 of us, they will be gone in 3 days. The Lemongrass is a little bit saltier. But, with rice or noodle they are perfect! This is our new favorite now. Usually, I divvied them to 2 big containers. Freeze one for later and try really hard not to finish the 1st container within a day. Remind me so much of my childhood with the 'tofu fa' granny at the market. $3-4 It is best serve warm and you can control how sweet you want. Fried tofu- you can get $2 or $5 portion. Tasty and healthy. We liked the green onion one. Next time, we will try the spicy option Spring roll with tofu - it is so good my meat lover kid said she can be a vegetarian. I usually visit Thanh Son Tofu for their rice noodles (bánh ướt), pork ham (chả lụa), and various desserts. On my recent visit around 9 AM, I spent a total of $72 on food. However, when I got home and cut into the pork ham (the one with the red string), I immediately noticed the texture wasn't fresh and it was super sticky. Taking a bite confirmed my fears - it was incredibly sour. I ended up throwing the entire thing away.I called the store to inform them about the issue and to check their product. The lady on the phone suggested I bring it back for an exchange, but since I had already discarded it, she said there was nothing she could do. I made the call just to inform them, not expecting a refund or exchange, but the response was disappointing.This experience has left me quite disheartened. It seems like they might be reheating unsold items from the day before and reselling them in the morning. Just moved to the bay area and was surprised at how difficult it was to find a fresh tofu place. Lots of standard Vietnamese deli food. They have fresh pandan soy milk ( gotta be early for these), a large variety of desserts, and freshly fried tofu. Get the chili tofu!! I always end up just snacking on half the bag instead of saving it for dinner. After a few days, the tofu also poofs nicely in the air fryer and it gets a nice crunch. A deli our family frequented once or twice a year for years. It's been at least a year since we've been back. We recently revisited purchasing some dessert drinks (che) and food trays. We noticed the deli no longer has giant vats of che or even tofu. The che were all packaged into individual cups. We were concerned about them being sour and going bad after reading a review. With hesitation, we bought three cups of che. We grabbed a few other deli goods individually packaged to go as well. We noticed the deli's arrays of offerings have gone down to scarce offerings. They were known for their tofu and soy milk. We saw no tofu on display for sale as they used to. The freezer was almost empty. The table, which used to have a large spread of to-go foods, was less than half filled with sad-looking items as if they had been picked over days ago. Unfortunately, as we feared, two out of three che have gone sour. I contacted the deli to warn them of the spoiled food. Instead, the young gentleman on the phone inquired how far I lived and suggested that time, it was the long drive that could cause their food to go spoiled. We live ten minutes away. Customer service was a huge disappointment. We will never come back again or recommend this place to any friends of ours. Through this disappointment, we were advised to another tofu place on Silver Creek Road, and we were delighted to find the difference between this new store and this place is night and day. read more
