Dave Chappell was awesome, just wish there were more seats! The floor is way to hard to stand on for a couple of hours!

Positive-Very nice venue great sound. Negative-strict policies and stupidity among staff and so-called security Was a joke! Being brought in from an outside waiting line and merging two other inside restaurant lines like a bunch of cows being brought to slaughter was ridiculous! Anyone who had brought gifts for the artist playing that night was told to leave them on a table as they walked in for a security check and was not allowed to proceed upstairs with any gifts with the assurance that the gifts would make it to that artist. (The artist that night is known for meet and greets at the end of their shows.) Photo polices were also on the ridiculous Side! My bag was checked I proceeded through security and was ok'd to go upstairs. The Show starts and I am told right away I need credentials to take photo's. why was I let in with my camera if I couldn't use it? I was never told to check my bag during the security check, they saw my camera and lens. I was told if I took my lens off and went to the back of the room I could take photos Which was the dumbest thing I've ever heard! Love the venue HATE the dumb policies set by dumb People. Let's hope this great artist never plays this great venue with stupid policies and shitty security again! Thanks read more

An excellent addition to the music venue choices in Chicago. Great sound quality, sightlines, bar service, and easy parking. Try Los Tres Diaz right next door for beer as well. read more

Let me tell you about Thalia Hall as someone rapidly nearing 30: they don't oversell concerts. The bars and bathrooms are plentiful. You can potentially sit. They have good draft cocktails. YOU CAN POTENTIALLY SIT, AGAIN. In conclusion: best small venue in Chicago. read more

i just want to say thanks to phil and family for comming to chicago and playing at after my first visit to the world class music venue that is thalia hall i have been a life long fan of our great band and have gone to over 100 shows in almost as many venues and i found the staff at thalia hall to be most welcoming and professional. i have copd and have difficulty climing a lot of stairs while trying to get the audience in thru security i asked if there was an elevator kinda of jokingly but the staff there said yes and asked if i could wait a few minutes witch was ok by me as i arrive early as a habit anyway alter seeing how busy they were and with only one more flight to go i said to the staff member i coulld just walk he said no and insited on taking me up the elevator witch was not in a public area of the venue they took me through a couple of back rooms to get to it and rode up with me. i couldnt help but think of the kindness these represenatives of thalia hall and ultimatly our city of chicago had shown. they could have easily let me walk up those stairs but didnt and went out of there way to make my visit there so memeorable i again thank phil and family for coming to chicago and hope you will consider playing at thalia hall in the future i fould thalia hall to have great acoustics acoustics and sight lines and the best staff who really wanted to make a diffrence in the concert experence and and how refreshing to see our city so well representedso thanks again to all at thalia and hope to see you soon! Saw a concert here last night. The stage lighting and sound were excellent. What was less excellent was the water leaking from the ceiling because it was raining outside. We also had general admission standing tickets and I'm not very tall and tall people kept standing in front of me constantly, which was frustrating. There was an option for balcony seating (VIP) which I might consider the next time I see a show there. There are multiple attached restaurants/bars, which are great for pre and post show. read more

Never had a bad time here. Great crowd and awesome cocktails... Love the music and the bartenders are terrific! I recommend this venue to all read more

I am a fan of Thalia Hall. I prefer going to concerts in smaller venues anyway, and it's great having a good music venue on the South Side of Chicago for once! I've been to a few indie concerts the last couple of years, and I can say, each experience has been good and organized. I was just there last night for Dave Chappelle. Thank God we got the scoop from people we know that attended earlier shows on what to expect. We went to the 9pm show. They told us to get in line EARLY because they only had 5 rows of seating on the floor, and if you couldn't get a seat, expect to stand the entire time. Sure enough, we got in line just after 7pm and the line already reached the entrance to Dusek's. The staff split the line where I was towards the entrance to Belli's. The entire time, we were chatting with the valet dudes and the people behind us in line. It was a cool vibe. The staff soon prepared the crowd to get our ID's out as they were going to give us all wrist bands, again, explaining our party had to be with us in order to get wristbands. All of that went really smooth. Finally after over 2 hours in line, we went in and managed to get seats where we saw Dave Chappelle a mere few feet away! The hall itself is very pretty and it's clean. But most importantly, and what surprised me the most, was that the acoustics are pretty damn good. There's no muffling, terrible sounds whenever bands play. They have a full bar inside. It's general admission, so you kind of have to go in there expecting you'll be standing the entire time. Sure there's balcony seating, and a couple random couches in there, depending how early you get there. Overall, it was a very organized experience. My two main gripes from last night: first, everything took SOOOOOO long to start. It was a 9pm show, but they didn't let the crowds come in until after 9pm, and the first comedian didn't get on stage until 10:30pm. I understand they were trying to get people from the previous show out, perhaps clean the venue, stock the bar, etc. I was just exhausted by the time the show started and I was home a little after 1am. I'm too old for a 1am bedtime on a Monday :( And also, I did NOT appreciate that most of the women's toilets upstairs did not have toilet paper! It wasn't even 10pm when I first went. I think they forgot to stock the bathrooms between shows. Not cool. I'm not gonna lie, even though it was a super long night at Thalia Hall, it was totally worth it for Dave Chappelle. Great job Thalia Hall! read more

A beautiful venue, full of personality with wonderful adjacent bar and dining options in the building. Don't miss an opportunity to catch a live music act here, followed by beverages at the Punch Room. read more

For my project management project, we partnered with Pilsen Yoga Tribe to host an event. Every Sunday, this group teaches free yoga for 75 minutes. The venue was elegant, vintage and comforting. We just downward dog in the middle of the hall. The venue is connected to a restaurant on the main floor, you can grab brunch before you go to the place. read more

My new favorite music venue in Chicago. Yes I know that Metro, The Riv, The Vic, and the rest of the Chicago music venue are staples to the music scene and should remained untouched. It's tradition after all and all of those places have character. I appreciate that, but cleaning/face lifting those venues really isn't a bad idea. A bit less sticky and an upgraded drink menu will make the experience better. Thalia Hall is an amazing renovated space that still maintains an old Chicago vibe. I love small intimate venues like this, such a great way to see music. I would come here for any show...yes, even Bob Saget. Be careful, because Thalia Hall will change your music experience. read more

The venue was beautiful, but I encountered the rudest security staff I've ever dealt with at a concert. Guy almost got into a shouting match with me because I wasn't "standing in the right place" (...okay, I'll shift a foot for you, but it's my first time here, give me a break?) and then again when I mentioned I don't have a bag to check. It's bad enough they have to body scan and frisk you to go in, but to have rude people violating your privacy like that? Too much. I had a good time at the concert, got balcony seating with a fantastic view, but I won't be going to see any shows at this venue again. read more

Caught the Lake Street Dive show here on May 31, 2015. It was my first time to Thalia Hall and I have to say the place is great. Reminded me of Lincoln Hall on the north side, but a little larger venue. The place was very clean, particularly the washrooms. Upstairs has a nice seating area, although for this show we had G.A. standing tickets. The bar at the back offered a nice selection of drinks and I think the prices were pretty good. $6 Goose Island draft and $4 can of Bud Light. I've heard good things about the restaurant attached downstairs but did not eat there. We will be back for a show in July and plan on trying the restaurant then. Oh there is also a bar down in the basement. Check it out. read more

one of the best live music venues in the city. great sight lines from everywhere in the room, excellent acoustics in this old time theater turned concert hall. just a super cool place to see a show. a better bat than most live music rooms in Chicago, too - micro brew and a shot we'll only set you back $9. read more

Thalia Hall - the view from the balcony at Thalia Hall. waiting to see Old 97s. - Venues & Event Spaces Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Maybe the best place to catch a show in all of Chicago. Nice acoustics. Intimate. Good acts. Looks classy inside compared to other "rock" venues. My only complaint would be parking but even that is not too bad. read more

BEST VENUE!! Everyone (staff) is so friendly and nice I would definitely come back to this place it's so much better then any other venue I've been too! If you come here you will have an awesome experience read more

I have mixed feelings about Thalia Hall after my first, and probably last, visit. Went to see Langhorne Slim on 8/18/15. Positives: The space was visually very nice. Great view of the stage. The staff was friendly. Good beer and cocktail list at decent prices. Negatives: The sound. It was so loud, the show was not enjoyable. The bass was so strong I felt I was going to be rattled out of my seat. At the same, I felt like my ear drums were being pierced with little needles. The opener was unbearable, had to go stand at the bar. The sound was better in the bathroom than it was in the actual concert hall. I've seen Langhorne several times now and never have the sound levels been like they were at Thalia Hall, so I have to believe it's the venue, not the band. While I'd like to give Thalia Hall another shot, I don't think I'll be back. read more

Best Venue in Chicago, they really care about their attendees! Safe environment, good bathrooms, cheap drinks and awesome music!

Great venue, great show, intimate setting. Not over crowded with decent drink selection and prices. I look forward to coming back!

Went here last week to see Avery Sunshine perform. Great venue, nice space, and friendly staff. I'll def come back from another event :)

Really lovely concert venue. Decent neighborhood, and we were able to find street parking, but definitely plan ahead to get a spot. The staff was unbelievably nice! (maybe it hasn't been open long enough for them to become rude and jaded...but I think they are actually just that nice!) Even for a sold out show, there was enough space inside to wait for doors to open. Inside the venue, it's a nice size, not too big or too small, and it even smells nice, like fresh wood. Good ambiance. You can tell they renovated it but they left some vintage touches and finishes. Nice bar with good beer selections and helpful bartenders. Great sound quality. We saw Cary Brothers/Andrew Belle/Josh Radin, so more of a soft acoustic vibe, and it sounded great. Josh Radin was able to do some stuff unplugged. It was awesome! I'd definitely like to return to Thalia in the future! read more

As part of the BOHEMIAN PAST, LATINO PRESENT, our group enjoyed a concert by Ondřej Havelka and His Melody Makers, Vivian García, and Esso Afrojam Funkbeat. Thalia Hall is a great music venue with good sound, easy bar access and located smack dab in the middle of several great restaurants. read more

I like this venue. It's clean, it's attractive, the staff is efficient, the beer is reasonably priced. There's even free water. I can't think of anywhere else that does that anymore. I can't really think of a complaint except that maybe there are too many check-points (had to show my ID twice, etc) on your way up the stairs. read more

Great concert hall. Reminds me of Scandinavian architecture. Excellent acoustics. The only downside is that it is in a shady neighborhood, hard to get to by public transportation. The air conditioning was working overtime, really cold in the middle of summer. Overall, had great experience! read more

I've been to two concerts here about six months apart, one on the floor and one in the upper deck seating. Fantastic venue, it's got a great old/newly renovated feel. I also like that it has GA for the main floor and seating for the upper deck. Not a bad view in the house. I wish I lived closer so I could go here more often. read more

Stunningly beautiful venue. Didn't get too hot or uncomfortable. Intimate but not claustrophobic! Would go back for sure!

Wow - amazing venue tucked away in Pilsen! And the legend of this place being MIA for so many years and recently re-discovered and re-vamped is even cooler! Imagine a venue that looks like a smaller Aragon but sounds like Lincoln Hall and you have Thalia hall. Looking forward to many more shows here, and the food / drinks at the bar downstairs also look amazing, will have to check those out. read more

I'm so glad they revamped this place and opened it up for shows. It's just an amazing concert hall. The sound was great, the layout is open and very dance-able. Great beer selection and at average prices. Didn't go upstairs to where the seating was but it looked cool. This place reminds me of a scaled down better version of the Aragon. I really love this place and the fact that it's 5 doors down from my friend's house makes it even better. You also have the option to go get punched from punch house and bring it to the show - It's a win win all around! read more

Love Dusek's as a bar and restaurant. And I like Thalia Hall, I just wish the sound was better.

Went to a concert at Thalia Hall and it was my first time in the beautiful neighborhood of Pilsen. Not only was it an incredible venue but I was also looking for a nice place to have a wonderful dinner before the concert and I came across this secret jewel called CIAO AMORE RISTORANTE! It was the most amazing and delicious Italian food I have ever had. Because the restaurant is a BYOB, I was able to start the evening just right. What an amazing everning with great food and music! I recommend both Ciao Amore and Thalia Hall to everyone!!! Perfect Combo!!! read more

Great venue for seeing Jukebox the Ghost. Wish I had come earlier for dinner and drinks at Duseks.

Came to see Gregory Alan Isakov. Not a bad seat in the house! We had balcony seats and it was incredible. Two bars in the building - you can get drinks from either and bring them into the venue. There is also a bar in the venue itself - we had a great time. Beautiful place! read more

Had the chance to catch Lake Street Dive here and I was blown away by how awesome a venue this is. Plenty of space, accessible by car and public transportation and not a bad sight line in the place. Thalia Hall is such a fantastic event venue! I was here for the " Gilmore Guys" podcast taping (which, btw, if you're a fan of Gilmore girls you'll have to check out!) and loved the whole vibe of the space. Met some friends last night to see the concert with Nothing But Thieves playing. I'm a native chicagoan and have never been there before. Was simply Blown Away by the entire experience. This is a great venue. It's a perfect location for north & south siders also. Right off the hwy. It's a bigger size venue that has known musicians and comedians. The sound is great, there isn't a bad spot in the room, and the location is excellent. Parking can be a little tricky, but hey...welcome to Chicago, right? Another bonus to this place is the variety of smaller bars connected to Thalia Hall. You have as few choices of where you could enjoy dinner and drinks, before or after the show. They even have a room for private parties, and a diverse crowd. I'm a fan! read more
