We came here on a weekday during lunch and the food hall was filling up pretty quickly. We ordered at the kiosk and then the food came out in about 5-7 minutes. The mom and pop who own the shop are very sweet and gave us the things we needed to eat our food. Everyone enjoyed their food pretty much. My friend who got the fried rice with bbq chicken said that her meal was very good. My other friend who got the pad se ew said she liked her noodles. however, another friend who got the pineapple fried rice said that her dish could have used more eggs. I got the pad Thai with tofu and veggies and the tofu was a little more on the bland side, but the pad Thai sauce was pretty good and flavorful, though it could have used a little more sauce. The veggie egg rolls were not very good. They were crispy, but the inside of the egg rolls was just mushy and had very little flavor in it. Overall, we were happy with our dishes and think that it can be a little tricky to get seating here on a busy day, and some of the seating can be a little lacking in this hall (for example, there were missing floor tiles under my table). read more

Came here for a quick lunch on a weekday. Unfortunately didn't hit the way I wanted. I ordered a tom yum noodle soup, spicy. Came out piping hot. The pros: lots of veggies, included mushroom, tomatoes, broccoli and the chicken was cooked well. The noodles were also decently cooked. The con was that the broth didn't really taste like tom yum, it didn't have that tanginess that you normally expect from tom yum. My meal here was a rather pleasant surprise. A group of us came down the stairs to find that we were only ones there on a Tuesday at 11:45am. We all decided to try Thai food and I went with the Eggplant and Tofu and added Chicken and asked for Brown Rice. The dish was really tasty and not too oily like some eggplant dishes can be. There was good seasoning and spice. I did opt to go with spicy when asked. Others in my group had curries, Pad Thai, noodle soup, and fried rice. Everyone said they liked their meals. Pad Thai (77.5% | C) - Yet another Pad Thai I'm reviewing... this one unfortunately does not actually taste like Pad Thai. The flavoring is off and does not hit the traditional Thai flavors. Additionally, the noodles are also a bit undersoaked and raw. However, the shrimp is impressively cooked despite having the tails shelled. Pad See Ew (60% | D) - This was an unfortunate vegetarian version of a Pad See Ew that hit all the wrong marks. The vegetable with this dish did not work and diluted the strong soy flavor one seeks with the dish; the broccoli was sour making this additionally displeasing. This dish needs to be doused aggressively with the iconic sweet soy for this to be savable. read more

I've been coming here for food during various stages of the Covid pandemic, I've observed surrounding eateries closing down, and Thanery appears to be next, I ordered Pumpkin Curry with shrimps, but the cashier didn't give me a receipt and asked for my name. When I opened my order at my workplace, it contained chicken instead of shrimps. So I returned my order and got my refund I wont be coming back to this place. read more

The basil ground chicken over rice is good here, just enough saltiness and no flavor overpowers it, and the spice kick slowly builds. Other items are average, not bad. The iced tea or coffee are on the sweet side, and strong. Not the best around but better than mall Thai food, and the portions do not match the pricing. However, the food is made to order - go this route - as the lunch specials are served from pre-made food trays. A definite stop if hours or lunch time are limited. I was able to eat lunch at Thainery Thai Restaurant for lunch today. One reason I came here is because I never got the chance to eat at the International Food Court before until today. The Pad Thai I ordered was very good and not too greasy like at some other places. The workers were friendly, my order was completed fairly quickly and I got more food than I had expected. I really enjoyed my meal while sitting in the clean dining area. I plan to come back here again if I get the chance. read more

I was looking for a relatively cheap Thai place for lunch in FiDi and this definitely fit the bill. The restaurant is actually a food stall in the International Food Court on Kearny. There are stairs leading down to an underground food court that are easy to miss, so keep an eye out and Google Maps handy! Their menu covers all your bases for those Thai cravings (pad thai, pad see ew, fried rice, green curry, etc) and they have 2-item lunch specials too. Each item and their lunch specials are all around $10. I got the fried chicken over fried rice and it was amazing. The fried rice was super flavorful and it came with a good amount of fried chicken. I was pretty happy with the amount of fried rice too. My order was ready within 10 minutes, which was awesome considering the long line during peak lunch hour. All al la carte dishes are made to order, so my food came out nice and hot. I ordered mine to eat there, but they do use Ritual for pick-up. The food court does tend to get pretty packed at the height of lunch hour. It becomes somewhat of a ghost town past 1PM, so I'd recommend going then if you don't want to wait in line or like eating in peace. Overall, this makes for the perfect spot for Thai takeout. I came there at around 12 so there are line in the cashier. Pickup experience: the guy seemed confused when I told him my name and my coworker's name (she came along with me). I couldn't blame him because I saw a big stack of to-go food ordered by several different apps, so he had to go through all that stack to find our orders. Food: I head back to my office and eat, it didn't really look appetizing because there barely any basil in mine, and chicken is not my favorite meat in the first place. But as I bit into it, it was actually pretty good! It's tasty, not spicy at all (even though I ordered it to be spicy, but its okay), and I can taste the basil even though there's literally only one basil shown in my dish... the meat and rice comparison is pretty satisfying, considering I only paid $1 for this. Second, the food are so good I got the Fried chicken fried rice - rice is so flavorful and chicken is so crunchy and take note they make your order fresh. I also got the pork stew noodle soup It is good but its a lil bit sweet or maybe savory for me but i know if u add soysauce or sriracha it will be better. Pad see ew is it! Make it spicy and call it a day. Come before 12noon to beat the crowd. They usually have a line but they're pretty fast. They also have food that are already precooked but I choose to get a special order and it did not disappoint. Not sure I would pay full price though. Thainery is located in the international food court so it can get crowded fast with limited staff to assist. I ordered a 2 item special with Basil Eggplant Tofu and Yellow Curry Chicken served with steamed Jasmine Rice. The eggplant and tofu tasted pretty good, but the yellow curry chicken was a little dry. I ordered the spicy level but it still tasted pretty mild to me. Overall, the food was pretty average. Thainery is also pretty good ,though Chim's not too far and provides a pretty similar menu (food + prices) at a sit down location. In a pinch, thainery will hit the thai food spot for me. PAD WOON SEN ($10.82): a tiny bit oily, but a hefty portion of chicken and shrimp, and wok fired veggies with egg and clear noodles. Good portions, and not too salty. Able to go back to work without feeling like I'm in a food coma. TLDR: bibimbar + thainery are my go-to places in the international food court. I must like punishing myself because I have found myself going to the dungeon, I mean the International Food Court, with some frequency lately, especially since new businesses started popping up. First, it was BibimBar that made Korean food into a Chipotle-lite experience, then Pao Jao with LA-derived ramen bowls and pork buns, and on my previous visit just last month, there was Buzz Express serving up higher-end burgers in an atypical setting. Now here comes Thainery, a rather contrived name for a new Thai kiosk that took the place of the late and lamentable Sushi Tosuki. It appears they opened just this past week, and I'm sure they're still trying to find their groove alongside established spots like Pho Express who treat their customers in assembly line fashion. Thainery has a menu plastered on a center column which made it difficult to know whether you go right or left in line. Without looking up from her smartphone, an entitled young woman cut right in front of me as she took advantage of my ignorance to get her food. OK then. Since it was raining, I decided to try the $9.95 bowl of Tom Kha Noodle Soup to warm myself up. It was a hearty melange of coconut broth with shrimp and vegetables and heavy on the cilantro and ginger (photo: http://bit.ly/1PRyTQb). While it was warming, I didn't care that much for the sour taste which I wasn't quite expecting. Delicious food with good spice level. The cashier was quick and professional. It is a little hole in the wall kind of place but all of the best food places are! Ended up ordering even more food so I could have leftovers. That's not to say the portion sizes are small, but rather that I couldn't stop myself from eating it all. With my favorite hole in a wall Thai place closed in SF (temporarily?), I was so happy when my coworker told me a Thai place opened at the International food court. Since then, I've come here at least once a week. They have the BEST Thai Iced Tea I've had anywhere because they don't make it very sweet, so there is a very strong tea flavor. It's honestly so good sometimes I just want to go and get it every day. The price is pretty on par with everything else you can get around financial district. The portion size is decent. My mom really likes their containers. The Vegetable Pad See Ew is my general go to. The sauce on the noodles is really good and since they use a gas stove with a wok, the noodles don't stick together like some other places do. I decided to try something different today and ordered the Pad Thai. It's good, but I think I will keep getting the Pad See Ew instead. I love that the food is always piping hot. It's about a 10-15 minute wait during the lunch rush but I will generally go after 2 when there is less people and I will only have to wait a few minutes for my food. read more

There's a lot of crunch since there's a good portion with just dough and no filling. It all works out nicely with lots of flavor and texture, but without spoiling your appetite. Shrimp Pad Thai: Since *every* Thai restaurant serves this dish, I have a lot of past experience to compare against. Their's was solid, but not amazing. The shrimp portion felt a little skimpy and the shrimp were rather limp (instead of having a nice firm sear). The fried tofu bits were bigger than usual and tasty. The noodles themselves were sweet, but lacked the umami and spicy dimensions I like in a good pad thai. read more

Thainery can be found downstairs in the International Food Court off of Bush St. and it's one of several restaurants in (basically) a square. It's pretty busy at lunch time, the food court, and a lot of people in the area take advantage of the restaurants down there. I ordered the chicken cashew with a side of white rice to go. The chicken was breaded so it was a little soggy by the time I opened it back up which was a bummer, but that's just what happens when you get something that's fried to go - it's never going to be as good. The chicken was mixed with peppers and onions and overall had ok flavor. The side of rice was a large portion but it was a little chewy. The amount of food was ok for the price, but maybe next time I'll eat the food there rather than take it to go OR I just wouldn't order anything that's been breaded to go. read more

The last time I was here I ordered the drunken noodles which were fine but not super memorable. I asked for them spicy but they were very mild. Today I tried the Thai fried rice which they did serve spicy when I asked but didn't have the Thai basil or garlic so it was more just like Chinese fried rice. It was fine but not outstanding. They make everything to order, which is good because it's fresh but also takes a bit of time so not ideal if you're in a rush. I wished they used chinese broccoli instead of American broccoli, but I'm finding that harder to find in any thai place anymore. They cook certain dishes to order (pad see ew or pad thai, etc) so be prepared for a long wait time if you come during lunch rush. The premade lunch entrees are quicker. The staff is always nice. This was the first time ordering takeout from Thainery for a team lunch and all went super smoothly! The staff were really nice and able to take our walk up order of 11 dishes efficiently and quickly. I was even happier to learn that they wrote our names on each box, which made it much easier when we were back in the office. I ordered the Pad Woon Sen (Silver Noodles) with Chicken and it was flavorful (not overly salty like other places) with a good ratio of meat to veggies to noodles. I would definitely order this again and can't wait to try their other dishes. Portions were good and filling for me. For my colleagues who ordered curry, it was served on top of rice, so you may need to ask for it to be served separately if you prefer them on their own. Next time, we'll be sure to phone in the order, so it'll be ready for pickup, but the wait was only 10 mins at most around 11:30. Look, you must know what you're getting when you're coming here. Thainery is located in a very casual food court, down a set of weird tiled stairs. I've never ordered anything to go from this spot, just have eaten it down in that dingy basement... Which is to say, even though the place is underground in the belly of the Financial District I'll keep coming! Thainery has the best Thai noodles in the area, and for a decent price. Sure you could go to Osha or another establishment...is that really what you're looking for? I highly recommend the Pad Woon Sen, I like it so much I haven't been able to deviate lately. Good ratio of veggies/meat/noodles all together, great flavor. Did I mention everything is made to order!? Give it a try.
