Eggplant with Tofu and added Chicken, with Brown Rice
    Jen L.

My meal here was a rather pleasant surprise. A group of us came down the stairs to find that we were only ones there on a Tuesday at 11:45am. We all decided to try Thai food and I went with the Eggplant and Tofu and added Chicken and asked for Brown Rice. The dish was really tasty and not too oily like some eggplant dishes can be. There was good seasoning and spice. I did opt to go with spicy when asked. Others in my group had curries, Pad Thai, noodle soup, and fried rice. Everyone said they liked their meals. The portion sizes were just right with a few of them not finishing their dish. By 12:10, the Thai place had a line where the other vendors did not. That kind of tells you something.

Pad Thai Noodle. Not authentic. 3/5. IG: @amei.eats

The restaurant is located in that "international food court" which looks kind of like a basement which is rather unfortunate location, and the food is equally unfortunate. Pad Thai (77.5% | C) - Yet another Pad Thai I'm reviewing... this one unfortunately does not actually taste like Pad Thai. The flavoring is off and does not hit the traditional Thai flavors. Additionally, the noodles are also a bit undersoaked and raw. However, the shrimp is impressively cooked despite having the tails shelled. Pad See Ew (60% | D) - This was an unfortunate vegetarian version of a Pad See Ew that hit all the wrong marks. The vegetable with this dish did not work and diluted the strong soy flavor one seeks with the dish; the broccoli was sour making this additionally displeasing. This dish needs to be doused aggressively with the iconic sweet soy for this to be savable.

Solid lunch. Lunch plate - Thai Basil Chicken - sweet, yummy, would definitely be universally liked by kids and adults - Eggplant - YUM, you can never go wrong with stir fried eggplant - portion was generous as I got this in a bowl for here Overall, was a good option to stop by especially with the overcrowding at other places due to the Warriors parade

Thai Iced Tea with Two-Item Lunch Special: Basil Chicken and Spicy String Bean Tofu.
    Peter L.

The basil ground chicken over rice is good here, just enough saltiness and no flavor overpowers it, and the spice kick slowly builds. Other items are average, not bad. The iced tea or coffee are on the sweet side, and strong. Not the best around but better than mall Thai food, and the portions do not match the pricing. However, the food is made to order - go this route - as the lunch specials are served from pre-made food trays. A definite stop if hours or lunch time are limited. Located below street level at the International Food Court (https://www.yelp.com/biz/international-food-court-san-francisco). Signage on both Kearny and Bush streets points to its location.

I was able to eat lunch at Thainery Thai Restaurant for lunch today. One reason I came here is because I never got the chance to eat at the International Food Court before until today. The Pad Thai I ordered was very good and not too greasy like at some other places. The workers were friendly, my order was completed fairly quickly and I got more food than I had expected. I really enjoyed my meal while sitting in the clean dining area. I plan to come back here again if I get the chance.

    Fried chicken over fried rice

I was looking for a relatively cheap Thai place for lunch in FiDi and this definitely fit the bill. The restaurant is actually a food stall in the International Food Court on Kearny. There are stairs leading down to an underground food court that are easy to miss, so keep an eye out and Google Maps handy! Their menu covers all your bases for those Thai cravings (pad thai, pad see ew, fried rice, green curry, etc) and they have 2-item lunch specials too. Each item and their lunch specials are all around $10. I got the fried chicken over fried rice and it was amazing. The fried rice was super flavorful and it came with a good amount of fried chicken. I was pretty happy with the amount of fried rice too. My order was ready within 10 minutes, which was awesome considering the long line during peak lunch hour. All al la carte dishes are made to order, so my food came out nice and hot. I ordered mine to eat there, but they do use Ritual for pick-up. The food court does tend to get pretty packed at the height of lunch hour. It becomes somewhat of a ghost town past 1PM, so I'd recommend going then if you don't want to wait in line or like eating in peace. Overall, this makes for the perfect spot for Thai takeout. And plus, they accept cash and card.

    Thai Basil Chicken Lunch

Came here because they had promo on Ritual, so I ordered their $1 thai basil chicken rice. First impression: it was located in the international food court, so the ambience is loud and crowded. I came there at around 12 so there are line in the cashier. Pickup experience: the guy seemed confused when I told him my name and my coworker's name (she came along with me). I couldn't blame him because I saw a big stack of to-go food ordered by several different apps, so he had to go through all that stack to find our orders. Food: I head back to my office and eat, it didn't really look appetizing because there barely any basil in mine, and chicken is not my favorite meat in the first place. But as I bit into it, it was actually pretty good! It's tasty, not spicy at all (even though I ordered it to be spicy, but its okay), and I can taste the basil even though there's literally only one basil shown in my dish... the meat and rice comparison is pretty satisfying, considering I only paid $1 for this. But to get it again for the actual price, I might need to wait until I'm really really craving it. Still, it's recommended!

OMG!!! I tried this place for the first time and I was amazed. First off the service is so good very welcoming and friendly. Second, the food are so good I got the Fried chicken fried rice - rice is so flavorful and chicken is so crunchy and take note they make your order fresh. I also got the pork stew noodle soup It is good but its a lil bit sweet or maybe savory for me but i know if u add soysauce or sriracha it will be better. Over all I highly recommended this place and definitely will come back again. I was having a hard time to decide what im gonna get bcause they have a lot of selection. 5 star for this place my new thai spot glad that i found this place! This is located underground in Kearny St International food court Thainery for the win!! And the best part they give you FREE Thai ice coffee or thai tea when u spend $25

Pad see ew is it! Make it spicy and call it a day. Come before 12noon to beat the crowd. They usually have a line but they're pretty fast. They also have food that are already precooked but I choose to get a special order and it did not disappoint. The place is in the basement and the place is not the cleanest but just close your eyes and eat.

2 Two Items Combo Lunch with Steamed Jasmine Rice, Basil Eggplant with Tofu, and Yellow Curry Chicken
    Smruthi S.

Ordered here through a promo on the ritual app. The discounted pricing ($5 off) on the app was reasonable for the amount they gave as it was a very filling meal. Not sure I would pay full price though. Thainery is located in the international food court so it can get crowded fast with limited staff to assist. I ordered a 2 item special with Basil Eggplant Tofu and Yellow Curry Chicken served with steamed Jasmine Rice. The eggplant and tofu tasted pretty good, but the yellow curry chicken was a little dry. I ordered the spicy level but it still tasted pretty mild to me. Overall, the food was pretty average. Tip: I would definitely recommend ordering through ritual or another food service app to skip the line - there were about 10 people waiting in line when I got there.

To get the best optimal experience at Khao Tiew, please remember to put your name on the waitlist and to get there on time when your party is close in queue (if you're not there, you're square, no expectations since they have tons of people waiting). I came here on a Monday night with my friend and I put my name down on the waitlist around 5 pm on the yelp app (heads up you have to be one mile away to be applicable to put your name down). Since I have been here before I know the deal and expected the wait. We were seated around 6:40 pm but it was so worth it in our opinions. The shop itself has a good amount of tables with a nice retro Thai feel from its decor. The servers are very nice and friendly but also the food comes out super quick which is what I personally appreciate as well. Here are some highlights from our absolute feast that we demolished (no food was left behind or forgotten). * Nuer nam tok: The medium rare beef was chewy, had the right amount of spice, and paired well with the crunch of the herbs. The saltiness of the meat ate well with the fresh sides of lettuce and cucumbers. * Crispy shrooms with ground pork: The crispy mushrooms were my favorite last time and the version with ground pork was exceptional. The mushrooms had a nice light batter and the sauce coated your mouth with an umami punch. * Drunken noodles: I love the amount of shrimp and calamari they gave! The noodles itself were coated in a semi sweet sauce that had a delicious soy flavor. * Duck curry: WOW the most tender duck dish I ever had, no notes! * Kaya jam with coconut ice cream: Creamy, fluffy, and a great way to end a meal. This dish is so hard to explain in words, you have to get it. Overall, amazing spot, amazing find, would wait 2 hours again for a third time :)

The restaurant definitely leans toward upscale Thai cuisine, and the pricing reflects that as well but that's typical of SF restaurants. My favorite dish of the night was the Khao Pad Mun Nuer with Soy Cured Egg Yolk. I requested the beef to be cooked medium instead of medium rare, and it came out perfectly. The rice was rich and coated in beef fat, while the beef itself tasted incredibly buttery, almost like wagyu. It was easily the standout dish of the meal. The rest of the dishes, unfortunately, felt rather lackluster in comparison. We also tried the Khao Soi and the Tom Yum Seafood Hotpot, but both were surprisingly lacking in flavor, which felt atypical for Thai food. That said, the spice level was accurate. We ordered the soup medium spicy, and it definitely delivered the heat, which I appreciated. Overall, I don't personally think the food is worth the current wait and hype, but if the crowds die down, I'd come back specifically for the beef fried rice dish.

Both are rum-based and had a really nice kick, especially the Soi Ari with the pandan in the aftertaste (which we found super refreshing). Food we ordered were the Nam Tok Beans, the Pad Khee Mao, and the rabbit curry. Both of us love spice so the Nam Tok Beans blew us away! Did not expect that kind of packed flavor at all but it makes a seemingly ordinary bean dish so much more exciting. The noodles were cooked perfectly and made a great in between to the rabbit curry. Which speaking of, oh my god??? SUPER tender and fall off-the-bone. Rabbit can be a hard dish to put on for people who have never tried it, but I really appreciate that it's not as bone-y as other rabbit dishes I've had in the past. It really was like chicken but softer. Wow wow wow. Huge shoutout to our bartender for giving us extra birthday shots on the house. Never had Amaro before tonight but it was delicious. Did not get his name unfortunately but he's fantastic! The reason I give 4 stars despite the great experience was because I noticed less urgency from the host and the servers in terms of getting stuff out. Doesn't help that the place is smaller and more expensive for a Michelin star establishment. Sitting by the bar made a huge difference for us since we had a great experience with our bartender, but I have a feeling that those at regular tables that night might've lost patience with the wait times for certain dishes. TLDR: if you love spicy Thai food, have the money to spend, and aren't in a rush, this place is worth checking out.
