FR6. Pineapple Fried Rice 7.8/10

Don't let some of the other pretentious yelp reviewers stir you away from this Thai restaurant. The food was tasty (sweet but not too overwhelming), and the service was decently quick. If you're CRAVING Thai food to begin with, give this restaurant a try. All the complaints about the pad Thai being too "saucy" and "wet" weren't the case for me. Don't let a few poor yelper experiences deter you from this local restaurant!

Was in Lansing and craving some Thai so thought I would try this place out. Wish I would have read the reviews first and saved myself the $20 bucks. Service okay but not so much the food. I've eaten a lot of Thai and this isn't it. All of the ingredients there, but the flavor is completely off. The sauce is overwhelming. It's too sweet and too salty all at the same time. The noodles appear to be rice noodles but taste like rubber. Very chewy. Yea....I won't be back and wouldn't recommend.

We landed on Thai Village by accident the other night after the place we tried to go for Thai food was closed early. It had been a while since we've eaten here and I decided to go with my usual Thai order of Pad Thai with shrimp and a side of spring rolls. The noodles were a little larger and thicker than other Thai spots that I've had recently, and they looked a little more yellow as well. I couldn't tell if the color was from the seasonings or maybe they used more egg yolk? Either way, it was pretty good. I thought the spice level was a just a little mild for what was supposed to be medium spice, but I also don't think I would try to go up a level next time because I think hot would be too hot. I loved the spring rolls and sauce that came with them for dipping and may even be back here just for those!

Parang curry

I enjoyed this Thai restaurant in downtown Lansing for the most part. The area it is located in is trendy and the restaurant itself is appropriately decorated. I tried the Hot and Sour soup, the Crab Rangoon, the Chicken Satay, and the Panang Curry. The appetizers were good, although the chicken satay was a little dry, but the dipping sauce helped that. The panang curry, however, was delicious. I have never had a panang curry prepared with grilled vegetables, but this was prepared that way. The peas, green peppers, carrots, etc. were grilled and that flavor with the curry itself was amazing. Sadly, my trip here ended on a bad note...I received a parking ticket...but that's not this restaurant's fault. Pay the correct meter before going in and enjoying your delicious Thai meal!

Siam Rolls

I tried the Siam Rolls for the first time today, and they were delicious! The vegetables were finely chopped and the noodles added a fun surprise in every bite. There was a nice balance between the chicken, vegetables, and noodles. And the red onion dipping sauce added a nice finish as you bit into the crunchy roll.

Initially this place was going to get 2 stars because the setting was dull and there was only a woman and her two daughters present other than myself. BUT, this place gets 4 stars because I had their Thai Village Rice with Tofu and shrimp (no meat) and it was AMAZING! Slightly sweet and definitely spicy (although I asked for mild) but definitely great tasting. Who cares about the mood, I went for the food. It was also affordable if one compares the amount given for the price you pay. I do recommend this place, it has my stamp of approval. (This place did not get 5 stars because of the mood)

Food-wise, our apps were crab Rangoon and steamed chicken dumplings. Both were delicious. The crab rangoons were sufficiently filled with the cream cheese mixture and were crispy. The chicken dumplings were stuffed with ground chicken and mushrooms and were well cooked. For our main, we got the pad Thai curry noodle and the drunken noodles. Our friends enjoyed the drunken noodles while the pad Thai, even though we specified mild twice, was spicy enough. We then ordered a side of white rice to make it palatable. We also ordered dessert because of the spiciness of the main, and got the mango sticky rice and the fried bananas with ice cream. Both were good but I'd probably order something other than the mango sticky rice next time. One star off due to the service. Our waitress was very short with us. When we emphasized wanting the food to be mild, her response was a stern "I got it. That's how we'll make it." even though that wasn't the case, when we said we'll order the mains after we were meet with a huff and asked to hurry up and order the mains along with the apps because the kitchen was very busy that night, after noticing the pad Thai curry noodle was spicy, we thought of ordering a fried rice to manage the spice and her response was frowning to say that it would just take too long now and so we settled on white rice, and after that point we could barely hail her down even though she walked back and forth multiple times. It was like she was annoyed we were dining there! Overall, great ambiance and good food.

It was just the three, but we were charged an automatic gratuity, which I thought was usually only added for larger groups (like six or more). The server handed us the payment device directly instead of bringing the bill with a pen like they normally do, so we didn't carefully review the charges. We ended up paying the total and adding a tip, not realizing gratuity had already been included. We only noticed it after the payment went through. I really wish the server had mentioned that gratuity was already added. If we had known, we would have questioned it before paying. It honestly left a bad feeling, and now I'll probably think twice before coming back.

Deceptive Businesses Practices. Not to be trusted!!…read more I was really craving some good Thai food, so I walked 15 minutes from my hotel to this business for a takeout order. I ordered the gang musmun. When the lady rang me up, the order total seemed high. When she handed me the receipt to sign, it was an even higher price than what she had just stated a moment earlier. I asked her about it, and she told me I had been charged a dollar for the takeout containers. Nowhere on any sign or on the menu does it state there is a charge for takeout containers. I'm pretty sure she was just padding my bill to benefit her business. Outrageous!! After walking so far, and still having to walk back, I just decided to pay the bogus charge since I was tired and hungry. As for the food, it was disappointing. Watery and too heavily seasoned with fish sauce. It tasted like bland heavily salted water. Very disappointing as I've had some amazing curries in my life and know good Thai food. This was not good Thai food. Not even close. I can't judge an entire restaurant based on one dish, but I can tell you, based on this one dish I would definitely not return. That's apart from the bogus extra charge to my bill. As for the restaurant itself. It was dingy, run down and not clean. The menu I was handed to look over was filthy and sticky. I used hand sanitizer after touching it. So gross. Very disappointing experience. I am in Lansing frequently for work and will never return to Bangkok House. If you are in the area looking for Thai food, there are two other restaurants within walking distance, I'd try one of those first if I were you.

Fabulous little spot for authentic cuisine. We got the pad Thai with crab and the #4 with tofu…read more Only advice is that the spice levels are American, not Thai (we got medium and it wasn't spicy at all) so order accordingly.

End of May will be your last opportunity for an unknown time. We splurged since it might the last time. We stared with the appetizer sampler and it was all delicious. All of it was fresh and delicious. Crispy crab rangoons, moist chicken satay, fresh spring rolls, egg rolls with chicken and some meat rangoon. All complemented with three different sauces with one being a sweet peanut butter sauce. Yum! The Red Pad Thai is amazing as usual. The fresh topping with the flavors from the noodles and sauce go so well together. The peanut curry with chicken were flavored with just the right amount of peanut flavor and spice! I substituted the white rice with their fried rice for an additional $3, but it was sooo worth it! Normally it was only an additional $2 but eggs, enough said. The service was pleasant as usual and never did we need anything. The place hasn't changed much over the last 10 years but you don't have to when your food speaks for itself. The place was good for one to a large group and is always clean Go give it a try before they are possibly gone forever.
