first time trying this little vietnamese pho store. it got the common variety along with some bao and tater tots as its featured dishes. can only comment on the pho, as it was my main target. broth was good, not too "chemical", but i would prefer it hotter to broil the rare steak strips. brisket a bit overcooked. tendon and tripe was soft and has some taste to it. pho itself was good portion and not bunched up. the side pack: bean sprouts, basil leaves, pepper and lime packed in a sealed pack, chilled as it was brought out from fridge likely. anyways, thought its still a decent place for pho in the area read more

Been coming here for years, the food is great, the price is very reasonable, the service is always quick, attentive, and no-nonsense. I love the soft, dim lighting and there's usually a game on or whatever is playing on FX (at least that's what I think the channel is usually set on). I especially love to get their banh mi and a vietnamese iced coffee for a quick lunch. Definitely recommend this place to all my friends and family, honestly anyone who will listen. read more

This place is OK, for being the only Vietnamese restaurant in the area. My family and I came here with Vietnamese food cravings (we're Vietnamese). We walked in and were seated almost immediately, as there weren't many people in the restaurant. After being seated I went ahead and ordered a Ca Phe Sua Da and #90, which was Com Bi Cha Thit Nuong. After about 10-15 minutes, the food came out: - #90. Com Bi Cha Thit Nuong: I opted for beef out of the available options. The meat had decent flavor, but wasn't as good as I had expected. The nuoc mam (fish sauce) that came with it didn't taste how I'm used to tasting it in CA. It tasted as if it had too much lime or something in it. The shredded pork was OK. My dish was supposed to come with a fried egg but it didn't. The vegetables were good. - Ca Phe Sua Da: This didn't taste that good. It honestly tasted like a coffee mixed with a little bit of chocolate syrup. Service was OK, there was only one server and he questioned my dad's choices of food as if he was crazy or something. He visibly looked stressed as more customers showed up. The Banh Xeo on the menu isn't available as well as the Baos that they advertise on the table. I'm not sure why as we didn't ask. Honestly I would travel further out for Vietnamese food unless you absolutely need it right away or don't want to drive. read more

I'm from LA where we have a Little Saigon. Thus place is good Pho for Michigan. Nuff said. They have proper Phos with tripes and meatballs and fish cakes and tendons. None of that restrained hold the organ meat for boring mid west pallette. Filet o fish would be better for you read more

Another cold wintery day in Lansing and found this Pho restaurant a bit far from the hotel. Loved how they had choices for noodles in the Pho so I went with the oxtail Pho/Ramen with the small chewy egg noodles. Wonderful tasting broth, ample portions of meat too. When I was paying the bill saw that they were selling freshly cut jack fruit so I had to get a container to go. The service was OK, the server wasn't very informative when we had questions. He was not able to make a very good recommendations. We end up ordering the pho with everything in it, the soup is not very good, very salty, and not flavorful. the items inside it wasn't very great either. They skimped Liz. We also ordered from their bao menu, but the prices have all gone up and the sizes have gone down. The place smelled miserable, super chemically from someone painting. It made us all sick from the smell. The server said that someone in the plaza was doing work, but the smell came through the vents. read more

Put in an order to go and picked it up on my way home from work. I read the reviews so it was hard to decide what to get, but I went with Vietnamese Spring rolls, and the Pho Tai for my Fiancé and Pho Tai Bo Vien for myself. The spring rolls were huge and you get 3 rolls. Super fresh and really delicious! The pho broth was really flavorful and there was just the right amount of broth and fixings. It was also packed and wrapped up tight so it didn't spill in the bag, which I really appreciated! I don't live close and it was still warm when I got home, over an hour away! I'm visiting from Mesa, Az. It's in the 70's and cloudy, so believe it or not a bit chilly for me lol. Having traveled all day and no transportation I ordered delivery service I ordered the pho beef broth with the shrimp and crab. The broth was delicious and the noodles and seafood created a wonderful combination. Ample noodles, Thai basil, sprouts, cilantro, and sauces. We have very good places to eat Pho in Az but I have no where else to compare until Denver a couple years ago and now East Lansing. Who knew??!! My final question...would I eat here again?? Overall this place did satisfy my pho craving, but not the best place I've ever been to. Large portions with decent prices. I got the pho tai nam and felt the broth was a bit too salty for my liking and lacked that traditional pho flavor with the spices of star anise, cloves, etc. Meat to noodle ratio was great and the meat was nice and tender. read more

Had lunch here with my daughter and it was pretty good. So we ordered some extra bahn mi sandwiches to take bad home. Come to find out that they skimmed out in the portion of the meat and vegetables. One of them didn't even have vegetables in it. It was very disappointing and probably will never go back there again. read more

It's decent for Lansing area. The portions are good, and that's the high point. The pho is bland (though that could mean they don't use a mix, but could also mean they just skimp on the broth mix). The meats are lower grade than you get for a $2 bowl of pho in Vietnam. They also skimp on the organ meat. The pork bao is 90% bread. Overall, this is far below what you will find in Los Angeles, which itself is far below what you will find in Vietnam. But for Lansing, it's not horrible, and while I wouldn't recommend someone visiting to try it, if you're a local, it is an option for something different. read more

I ordered the pad thai and it was AMAZING! The portions are very large as well. My friend ordered a steak pho dish which he loved although he was very sick and threw it all up when we got home... I think he may have gotten food poisoning although I feel fine so he may just have a weak stomach. Just something to be aware of. Our server was fine. The ambiance was good too. Overall, the food is very reasonably priced, big portions, and quite good! We've been before and haven't had any stomach issues so it may be a fluke but definitely wary about going back. read more

This is a filthy restaurant! Sticky table with more grime on the edge of the table. I used some antibacterial wipes that were sitting on the counter to wipe away the grime. Just disgusting. Floors dirty. Windows dirty. I really wanted some good Pho, but the grime everywhere made me not want to eat. Not good pho either. read more

Been here a few times because it is Vietnamese restaurant and not so far from where we live. Hesitates to order to go/delivery a couple times as I know certain food that I want to eat, once you order and bring home or they deliver, it won't taste the same. But I did order for delivery last weekend as so craving for spicy beef noodles soup (bún bò Huế). I used Grubhub and they delivered quite fast. The food was still very delicious and warm. I'm in a continual state of pho-craving after leaving Texas (where there are relatively large Vietnamese communities and many solid pho restaurants) for Michigan. I've had some wins with pho in the Detroit-Windsor metro area, along with a number of major disappointments. So while visiting East Lansing I threw caution to the wind and wandered in.. Right decision -- Pho So 1 fits neatly into the win category. The brisket/beef slice pho is respectable. Not perfect, yet still satisfying. And the whole experience was buoyed by some unexpected bonuses: * very good (blended) milk tea * the best bánh mì sandwich I've had in years * inexpensive prices The restaurant and ambience are about as spartan as it gets (not to be confused with the capitalized pronoun), but that's not uncommon for pho spots. I've lived in the area for about 30 years and never noticed this restaurant! Decided to give it a…read moretry. There was only one other party there on a Friday night. It was very quiet. But a friend had recommended it so we were willing to give it a try. Overall a great Chinese food experience. The menu says it's a Sichuan restaurant. And they had Sichuan dishes plus the "American" Chinese dishes you'd expect. I see they also do dim sum but we didn't try that. They have a ton of vegetarian options! The server told us that they have been open since about 2011 and they used to only have traditional Sichuan food. Their primary customer base was international students who wanted authentic Chinese food like they had at home. But after Covid there were few international students from China in town and their business was struggling, so they expanded the menu to appeal to American tastes. As a result, the menu is huge! And you can choose between authentic Chinese or American style. We tried 2 dishes and enjoyed them both. We will definitely return and try some others. It's not a fancy restaurant but there are comfortable seats for 2 and big round tables with turntables for parties of 10 who want to share dishes. The staff is a very nice and helpful family. And they could really use some more customers! Carry out or dine in.

I don't understand why it's so empty but I guess the price per portion could turn people off but it's authentic and delicious so I'd give it my stamp of approval.
