This is a great spot if you're looking for a quick-and-dirty meal that is slightly more exotic than Chain Restaurant Meat Sandwich, which is a good 78% of the rest of the off-campus dining options within walking distance. To that end, it's great. But No Thai is kinda fast food as far as Thai restaurants are concerned, offering a pretty limited menu outside of your ordinary pad thai and frankly lackluster curries. I could conceivably bump up my review to five stars if they could diversify the menu and ingredients a bit. Everyone is super nice and they are insanely fast, which is giving this an extra star from what would normally just be a very much middle-of-the-road 3/5. read more

This spot was recommended by an alumni who had heard great things but never tried it so I was hesitant at first. Walked in and ordered the Drunken Noodles, Spring Rolls, and Thai Tea. Picked up my order and sat in the window to enjoy the busy street and people watching. The food was a 9 out of 10. Spring rolls and chili sauce was perfect. The noodles weren't cooked to perfection some over cooked slightly but the flavor of the chicken and vegetables were delightfully delicious. The Thai Tea is self serve so I was able to add as much or as little creamer and take a cup to go. I'd definitely recommend this gem and return when I'm in the area. No Thai is one of the few places that was open on Christmas Eve in East Lansing so my boyfriend and I stopped in to grab some lunch while in the area. The interior was clean and mostly empty and the girl at the counter was really nice. We both ordered the pad Thai curry with chicken, medium spice. Their menu is pretty small but has many traditional Thai staples, with noodle, stir fry, and fried rice dishes. You can choose chicken, beef, tofu, or shrimp and they have 5 spice levels. Pretty typical of fast Thai places like this. Our food came out quickly and was super hot. It was also a really large portion - we definitely could have shared one entree but we took leftovers. This version of pad Thai curry had pineapple in it, which I hadn't seen before. I liked the added sweetness. The dish itself was just okay - I couldn't really put my finger on it but it just didn't have much flavor. The chicken also tasted like it had been cooked previously and was just reheated, which was slightly unpleasant. I'm a tough critic on Thai food because so far nothing I've tried can beat my all-time favorite local place. I also noticed (after we ordered) that there is a tiny note on the menu board stating that the posted menu prices include tax only if you pay with cash. So bring cash for a discount! Would I eat here again? Probably not. Lots of other good places to eat when it's not Christmas break. read more

Stopped in for lunch a few weeks ago, quite by dumb luck after walking out of a nearby pizzeria. My husband and I were shopping downtown and really needed to find a decent lunch spot. We chose No Thai simply because it was close and, I was starving and I hadn't had great Thai cuisine in a few months, so we decided why not. I had Drunken Noddle with tofu and he had Pad Thai.. both were excellent. The portions were quite large, particularly fir lunch, and the flavor profile of both dishes was sublime. We both opted for mild spice and it was definitely enough... I might try the hotter level spice next time, but the mild absolutely had plenty of heat. Our food hit the table pretty quickly and the price was right. I was surprised to find affordable, decent Thai food on a lark. Next time we're in town, we'll definitely be back. read more

I was shocked when I saw that No Thai didn't have a 5 star rating! This is hands down my favorite restaurant in East Lansing, maybe even in Michigan! I recently moved away, but in college I would get take out here almost every week. I always got the Pad Thai Curry and my boyfriend loved the Potato Curry. The Pad Thai is also great. The have great tofu that's perfectly fried and soaks up the sauce like a sponge. Yum! I can't say enough good things about No Thai. I will always stop by when I'm in the area or near their other locations. I will warn that they aren't kidding about spice! I always get the mild and even that sometimes has a little kick. read more

Went to this place recently ambience was just okay like I have seen better looking thai places. We ordered crab wontons, these were one of the best I have ever ordered, my son really enjoyed those. We also ordered Pad thai curry and Gang Pak. Let me just tell you the Gang Pak was amazinggg! The veggies were so beautifully stir fried like maintaining the proper crunch and taste and looked so fresh like there was a quality in veggies. My go-to college restaurant. This place provides excellent food even when it's in the form of take-out. I always order the Pad Thai with the medium heat (the spice levels range from none to incredibly spicy) and tofu to top. I love the tofu because it's fried but very flavorful. The crab rangoons are huge and pair well with the plum sauce they provide. Their Thai iced tea is something I think a lot of people overlook but I've tried it and was pleasantly surprised. read more

Plus I ordered it medium spicy, and had to drown it in Sriracha just to get the barest hint of spice. Option for order customization allows for all sorts of unique flavor and spice combination opportunities. This is a small restaurant where you order, pay and then find your own table. There are quite a lot of choices on the menu, and the girl taking our order was happy to help us find things that were vegetarian. She told us which curries to order and which ones were not vegetarian. She was happy to help and was so patient and sweet! The potato curry was a favorite of our entire party, as was the Pad Thai and the Drunken Noodles. Ok....truth be told....we ordered 8 dishes to share, and we loved them all! The food is made fresh to order, and you can stand and watch the chefs hard at work creating your dish. It reminded me of standing and watching the street venders cooking on the streets of Bangkok when I visited there. There are FIVE people standing around - including the one at the register SURFING THE WEB - and THERE'S TRASH everywhere. The floor is littered (not just a dropped napkin...), tables are dirty, and NO ONE seems to care. There's no line, only a couple of customers - essentially NO EXCUSE. And, back to that inconsistency problem... YOU'RE OUT OF SPROUTS! Which are an integral part of probably 1/2 of the dishes!!! GO TO KROGER or something. You're also only frying in nut-contaminated oil for some reason. I'm surprised one of your industrious employees even managed to put up post-it notes about your menu issues today. No Thai! quickly serves up some satisfying Thai dishes at a reasonable price. The most impressive part of No Thai! is the speed at which the dishes come out of the kitchen. Don't be mislead, its not instant, but its fast for Thai food. The flavors are what I expect and fairly satisfying and portions are generous for the price. No thai has pretty good thai food. I've been to the one in ann arbor and the spicy levels are definitely different. In east lansing the spiciness is definitely on the low side so if you're use to medium and you like spicy you should go one up so get it more spicy then you use to because medium isn't spicy at all. I usually get the pad thai shrimp which is always wonderful and my bf ALWAYS gets the sweet and spicy chicken with the spiciest you can get it which is verrrrry good i'd have to say. But if I had to choose to dine in or get it delivered I would definitely DINE-IN. It isn't as good delivered sadly. But its still a pretty awesome place to get some quick thai food. read more

Well, we were going to try another Thai joint in EL but it was closed for repairs so, a fellow steered us to this place. We were disappointed to discover that it's a "fast food" style place but we were craving some Thai cooking so I ordered the Drunk Noodles and Wifey had the Pad Thai, both mild because we'd never eaten there before. Also, the menu is sparse. Second downer: Price. $8.50 per meal not including beverage. Third gig: No soup with our meal. Very few veggies in either dish. On the up side: Portions were generous (but what Asian restaurant doesn't serve it up large-style?). Take-out containers are right on the counter and they're the nice sturdy type with lids. So, we'll stop in at the competitor's eatery and compare the two. I told the young lady at the cash machine that I patronize a Thai place in Flint that includes the bowl of soup, serves you at you table (like a real restaurant) and cooks from scratch for almost two bucks less.
