    D10 Evil Tofu (V)

Had a quick weekday lunch here and it was delicious! I tried the evil tofu mostly because the name made me laugh, but it was a delicious garlicky sauce with veggies. Our server explained it's named after the way they cook it with fire in the wok. He had good recommendations and our food came out quickly! My one complaint was the portion size seemed a little small for the price ($17) especially during lunch. Would definitely come back here to try more!

Pad Kee mak, with rice, noodles, chicken, egg, peppers, and broccoli and onions, garlic, chilies, and basil. Delicious.

We managed to get in right before the dinner rush, which is great since we had a show at Portland center stage after the meal. Because the meals are plenty of food for just about anybody, and we didn't wanna carry leftovers around , we ordered cocktails but skipped the appetizers and ordered our entrees: Pad Kee mao (noodles with chicken vegetables in brown garlic sauce) and a ginger stirfry (peppers, mushrooms, onions, and a very good size serving of duck - can have had it instead of the duck). My lemon grass Jen tonic was fantastic, and the lemon grass - cucumber really came through nicely. My wife ordered the ginger cocktail, I think it had vodka, but it really wasn't very good and I had 2 mile of a taste with not much of a ginger aspect at all. My stirfry deck was fantastic, lots of vegetables duck cooked perfectly, and he was just right. My wife's dish was also excellent and the garlic sauce was a good complement for the chicken and veggies. We finished with a perfectly made, rich and hot pumpkin (rice) custard. This is a perfect dinner stop for anyone who wants a centrally located restaurant serving tasty food at a very good price.

Fresh.. hot..and delicious!! Thai coffee was given by accident but definitely hit the spot after a long day. The Ginger Stir Fry might be my new favorite Thai dish and this place did it right. I do believe that I came in during lunch time so the portion was a little small but I still walked out full and happy. Since it was the middle of the day the place wasn't packed so the service was quick and fast. The restaurant was warm and peaceful. If you're in the area take a stop by!

Visiting the area and Yelped for good Thai food. Thai Tree was a little further than we wanted to travel but so glad we did. Parking is a challenge but also worth it. We'd enjoyed a heavy and late lunch so we ordered cautiously. We share the Fresh Rolls with Shrimp and pad Thai with chicken. Our favorite pan-Asian restaurant at home serves award-winning Nime Chow; these were better. They were delicious and packed with fresh flavor. The pad Thai was the best we've had. Tender chicken, delicious sauce, crispy sprouts. So happy to have found Thsi Tree.

Shrimp volcano, sweet dumplings and yummy cocktails!

It's always a treat to eat at Thai Tree! Your order of food is brought to you steaming hot and delish. I have a favorite drink called "in to the groove"... there is a lot of Thai Restaurants I. Portland but Thai Tree is my all time favorite!!

Best food in Portland Maine!!! You HAVE to come here. The dumplings were so tasty and the wings, YES. Excellent service- very nice waiter. Ambiance is obscure you would never know the gem this place is.

Cute and cozy restaurant with great service! I liked Thai Tree so much I ended up going for lunch two days in a row when I was in Portland for a conference. I like how the lunches come with a side salad and scallion pancake. The food is actually adequately spicy if that's how you like it. On a scale from 1-5 with 5 being the spiciest, I ordered a 4 both times and found the dishes spicy while still being flavorful. During my first visit I ordered chicken panang. It was flavorful with a generous amount of chicken and vegetables. The heart-shaped rice was a nice touch. I wish there was more of the curry sauce but overall it was great. The second time I visited I ordered Pad Thai with scallops. This was also delicious and the scallops were tender. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in Portland and want good Thai food!

I really enjoyed my meal at Thai Tree and would highly recommend it. The service atmosphere and food is all amazing. I got pot stickers, crispy chicken pad Thai, and a salad. Everything here looked and tasted very good. Best Thai in Portland and it's not even close.

The food at Thai Tree is excellent and the staff aren't too shabby either. Came in a Friday night date night and was looking for someplace cozy in the Portland area. Thai Tree was able to seat us in the corner alcove bar, which while not ideal originally, gave us a quiet respite from the hustle of the main restaurant. I love love love all the musical nostalgia throughout the restaurant. Service was better than okay with two hiccups: 1) We did have to wait for some basic things because they ran out of some cutlery but they were washed and brought to us -- we made due with what we had. 2) because of where we were sitting, it did feel like we didn't get some of the same attention customers in the main dining area got. The food! Papaya salad was bright, fresh and tasty. Fresh shrimp which weren't "messed with" brought a next level to the fresh feeling. Definitely a top Papaya Salad. The Tom Yum Shrimp Skewers were good but not stand out. Larb Flight: This was one of the stand out dishes. Chicken, Beef and Pork larb in small cups was a date night food-adventure. Khao Soi: Wife and I are at ends here. She declared this Khao Soi to be her favorite of all time. I think it was very good although I didn't appreciate the bone-in chicken as part of the soup and wanted it to be a little bit more punchy. Regardless, I'd order this again. All-in-all, Thai Tree provided us with a fantastic date night in Portland and we can't wait to come back.

Good - not great Thai food. Customer service was good. Place was clean. Would return if/when in the area and needed a thai fix.

Gross Confection recently announced on social media they would be shutting down the bar/desserts service while remaining open as a bakery. My wife and I came here many a times for an end cap to the night for one last drink and delicious and beautifully made desserts. From times in their dimly lit space that gave off romantic vibes or even enjoying our desserts in the summer sun outside people watching, every time will be remembered. Timing worked out well and we were doing a staycation in Portland and knew we needed to add a stop here one last time. Thankfully we got our names in on the waiting list early enough Friday and got sat as one of the last tables. We each had one last phenomenal drink; my wife and Apricot 75 that had a great tart kick of apricot and lemon. While I enjoyed their Chai Fashioned which spelt like a chai but had that boozy bourbon warming you'd expect. Dessert wise everything sounded good as always but we settled on two. The Goat Cheesecake and Pineapple Cake. The cheesecake was the perfect sweetness without being cloying and the blueberry sorbet on top paired so well. The pineapple cake was moist and tasted so good we needed to scrap the plate clean. I'm sad that Portland is losing this amazing dessert space but glad it's not a complete goodbye since they'll operate the bakery still! If you somehow read this today and have the chance make it in for one last visit tonight before they close their doors!

It's been a long while since I have been here. Way back during pre-pandemic times during a Maine Beer Week. I really enjoyed it and would have likely given 5 stars had I reviewed back then. Maybe that is just me wearing rose colored glasses and thinking more positively than it was though. They have since expanded to have more food offerings than just cake and more drink options than just beer. I do believe it's an improvement to have more options and was a smart business move! This stop in the vibe just didn't feel the same leaning towards a negative way unfortunately. I was excited to give their cocktails a try and my wife got their French 75 while I got their Pickletini because I love pickles so why not! I suspect due to how similar the drinks are, the bartender garnished the wrong drink with the pickles so that was a bit off initially for the French 75. It was a simple fix though. So overall, I still appreciate the decor and ambiance despite the vibe being a little weaker now in my opinion. I would return to give their food a try and do believe it's a solid option for a bar especially if you want to avoid wharf street.

There was so much to select from - we got pastries, cookies, pizza and bread - and we pretty much liked everything. Our least favorite was the morning bun with walnuts - we didn't have it right away so that might've been part of the issue. Just note that the bread served at the restaurants aren't available until 2pm - we were leaving that morning so we weren't going wait for it. We opted for other loaves instead and they didn't disappoint. If you want something yummy and fresh - make sure to stop by here before heading out of Portland. Good, old fashioned, fun. It's good for kids. It's good for drunken twenty-somethings outside of Fore Street bars. It's good for tourists. It's good for those of us with a sweet tooth who need a fix but don't want to spend a lot of money. And it's good for those of us who like the idea of s'mores, but maybe don't want to purchase all the ingredients to make them ourselves, because... let's face it... there's always half a box of graham crackers leftover (and seriously, what does anyone ever do with those?). It's run by a staff of fun-loving folks. And they've got fire. So, basically, it appeals perfectly to most people's inner child. There's only two things that prevent me from giving The Marshmallow Cart full marks: 1. Marshmallows are typically made with gelatin. Gelatin is typically made from animal by-products (think bones, skin, and tendons). I don't know (but would update this in a heartbeat if I did) if The Marshmallow Cart makes their marshmallow's with gelatin or if they're vegetarian-friendly and use guar gum, agar agar, or pectin. That being said, as a vegetarian, I'm not exactly rushing to get back here for this particular product. 2. THE WAFFLES ARE DELICIOUS. They sooooooo remind me of my Spanish gofres, but... The Marshmallow Cart doesn't have icing for them. I think the only options are marshmallow or nutella. Allow me a Veruca Salt moment, if you will: I WANT ICING. AND I WANT IT NOW. I would come out of my way for this if it was available. Maybe I should just start carrying my own bottle of it around in my purse? The point... if you like marshmallows (and don't have a plant-based diet), s'mores, waffles (sans icing), fire, and smiling... The Marshmallow Cart will not disappoint.
