Our favorite and go-to spot for Thai food. We can either order to go or eat it there, taking as little or as much time as we want. We've never had anything bad and we've never had to wait for a table even though it's small in there and usually fairly busy. I never have a hard time deciding, but I have heard the waitresses being very patient with newcomers trying to decide what they like or want to eat. One time my husband and I split one of those tiny super hot chilis and the waitress was very nice and brought us lots of water refills and only laughed at our pain once. Please bring cash. They obviously prefer it and they'll give you a 5% discount on your bill if you pay with cold hard cash. read more

I live in the area but have never gotten around to finding a go to Thai restaurant. So I read the reviews on here and it sounded good so I ordered chicken yellow curry in medium spice with shrimp spring rolls. My order was finished on time and I went to pick it up. When I got home and opened the food, I was very disappointed. 1. The sprouts in the spring rolls were brown. They looked like they were made the day before and they didn't want to throw them out so they gave them to me. The peanut sauce they came with tasted like it was store bought and not authentic. 2. The yellow curry had a plastic or paper piece, I don't know from what. I found out as I was attempting to chew it and had to take that out of my mouth. Yeah. I'm not making this stuff up. 3. The yellow curry was watery and not very curry like. Also I told them twice I want medium heat and the curry didn't have any spice at all. All of this came out to $19 which is very expensive for Thai food for one order. Overall, they are careless, the food doesn't taste good, they are not attentive and it's dirty (plastic/paper pieces in the food). I definitely will not be going back there and instead will try to find another Thai restaurant in the area. read more

In a little strip mall so we weren't expecting much but we really wanted to try some Thai food in El cajon and were hoping for at least decent food... We were amazed at how fresh the food was, how clean the utensils and serving dishes were, how nice the atmosphere was, and just overall the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Very flavorful and attention to details. Also they had very healthy portion sizes. Took a lot home. Definitely there is pride of ownership. We will absolutely be back. Update: Seems like their owners/employees monitor reviews, but don't care to respond or make things right. They marked this review as "funny". What a horrible experience here. I've been to Thai Time for lunch many times before, never an issue. But this time I ordered Chicken pad See Ew, and I got to see their true colors. I waited about 20 minutes longer than I was told. But no problem, I was patient. When my order was ready, I made sure it was mine so I asked "Pad see ew?". He said "Yes". I finally got home and couldn't wait to eat, only to find out it was with beef! I immediately called and the guy who answered seemed to know exactly who I was since they probably realized I got the wrong order before I called. He told me to come back to get my correct order, even though I know they deliver. When I got there, my food wasn't ready, and I waited 20 more minutes until it was done. I brought the plate back for proof, but the moment I showed it to him he grabbed it out of my hand and set it aside without even looking at it. During that time, I got no apology, no offer of water or a drink while I wait, and after I asked if they were going to throw my food away, they replied "I don't know" and acted confused. They seemed to understand the other patrons just fine, so I'm not sure what got lost in translation. Their hesitant response makes me think they're saving it for the next beef pad see ew order. Gross and unashamedly frugal. I will NOT be returning here again, and I suggest others try Leela Thai in Santee or Finest Thai in El Cajon instead. 0 stars if I could. This place is small but is packing flavor! Very delicious! The servers were very attentive & packed our leftovers for us. The Pad See Ew, spice level 6 was yummy! I would give it a zero starts if I could. Today we went to Thai Time to have lunch with friends. The waiter was very rude and annoyed to serve us . I ordered yellow curry , specified I didn't want a lot of oil in it . He said ok. When my food comes, he brings Panang curry with extra oil. I told him I didn't order it . He took it away . Then came back brought it with him and said that I did order it , put the dish on the table and walked away . That was very rude! He never bothered to check how our food was as well. As a Thai food addict (enthusiast?) I would give this place pretty moderate rankings. There are a lot of choices in terms of lunch selections, which I liked, but for some reason the meal fell short for me. I think it might have been that this tiny hole in the wall restaurant was completely brimming with customers (which is usually a great sign!) but when we came in at 1:00 pm, the staff just may have been plainly over worked. They forgot dressing on my salad, my friend's Panang curry did not have any vegetables at all and I had to wait an extra 10 minutes after she received her meal before I got mine. I also noticed that other tables had the same thing happen to them, where one dish was served and the rest of the table waited a while for their meal to come. As for the meal itself, I had the "mock" chicken with ginger sauce and it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Was recommended to visit Thai Time as I had never had Thai food before. I called in my order since I heard it gets quite busy around lunch &the woman who answered the phone was very pleasant. I arrived to pick up my order and noticed how small the restaurant is and the difficulty of picking up a to-go order. I felt bad that I was so close to the people eating their lunch, but they didn't seem to mind. This location would probably do great in a bigger building. This is my favorite place to get Thai in the city. It's small and well decorated. There are always fresh flowers on the tables and even bouquets on the counter and in the restroom. Prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. It's a great place for casual dates as well. I joke that they might as well have photos of my dating history on the wall. I think anyone I've dated has been here multiple times with me. I usually order pad thai , yellow or panang curry, or spicy noodles. Fresh spring rolls or tom kha is great as an appetizer as well. Spiciness is done on a scale of 1-10. It's my experience that this is an exponential curve when it comes to thai restaurants and this one is no exception. I love spicy food but I usually stick with a "3" on most days. I've been coming here for years. I had guinea pigs as pets and they would often give me a little cilantro in a napkin to take home "for your rabbits". One year I came in just a bit after Christmas and they gave me a cute little stuffed elephant stylized with pretty patterns and bells. I put it on my rear view mirror. I highly recommend this place! This is Kyle Sending another review. I have been coming here for the past few years but just recently multiple times a week in the past year with my new job being not too far away... Want to start off positive but be very honest with feedback....This is my favorite place to eat Thai at in East county despite the poor customer service. Like any place nothing is perfect and I understand people make mistakes but their food is usually always tastes great, and is made in a timely manner. The kitchen does a fantastic job and the owner had taught them well but front of staff needs help sometimes with owning up when mistakes are made instead putting the blame on the customer like the are trying to do to me. I think they need to hire a manager whom isn't a family member who can have better quality control. For example, I have had two orders wrong a while ago and recently got the catfish bc I wanted to try something new from the menu like the servers have mentioned before, "try something new next time kyle" ok no problem, but when I tell them I didn't like it, they have a hard time understanding why? And why would I want my money back or get another dish made when it's a to go order. We agreed on making sure to "call and let them know if there is a problem on a to go order and won't accept exchanges or returns the next day". In which I understand and agreed, but it's not the customer fault always. I spend a ton of money here and overall have had pleasant experiences here. I will continue to tell my friends and co workers about this place bc it is the best in town!!! Thank you again for the great food and I will be sticking to my favorite items on the menu. A friend took me here even though I had another place in mind..We ordered curry I wanted a 6 she and 8 . Well we got our food and it looked great but it was so hot we couldn't eat it I gave it to my daughter who like spicy it was too hot. My friend and I came here based on the reviews and this place does not disappoint! I was in heaven the food was so good! I highly recommend the Thai tea, soft shell crab and the royal duck. Always excellent food in generous portions especially for the price (compared to other Thai places)! We love to order the yellow curry spicy level 7, the glass noodles w/tofu (pad woon sen) spicy level 5 and the eggplant dish (so delectable!) usually spicy level 5 or 6... There are so many great things to order from this place that sometimes it's hard to decide. Tonite I'm feeling under the weather and the Tom Kha soup sounds good. Gonna go with the panang curry w/beef, too. These dishes are yummy standbys to our typical order. Oh yes, we usually just order and Bob delivers our food within 30 minutes!
