Hands down the BEST Thai restaurant in Richmond. We went for lunch and had the Thai Studio Sample appetizer. Delicious! Then we order Larb salad. One of the best Larbs we've ever had. Perfectly seasoned. Spicy basil with chicken was our entree. It also was perfectly seasoned and scrumptious. Had to finish off lunch by tasting the sticky rice with custard. So yummm!!! First things first, the servers were amazing. They were nice, and easy to approach. Additionally, they gave us a free appetizer--vegetable spring rolls (which was absolutely amazing). After, I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai with a level 3 spiciness. The food was mouthwatering, and tasted even better. The owner of the restaurant also came to ask if everything was okay, which impressed me. disclosure: I like to give stars relative to the other food of this type in and around the city. If you were looking for Thai food in NYC - this would be a different rating. In Richmond, VA - this is a really strong offering. We visited on a Friday night - 8pm. 1 of 2 tables - but there was a steady take-out business happening the whole time we were there. The service was very sweet and attentive. When my partner asked for a recommendation on the Kanom Jeeb - steamed of fried? - our server quickly said "fried" with a great smile. How right! Get them. You will not be disappointed. Hot, crunchy on the outside, with a delicious sauce... We ordered Pad Thai with chicken, level 4 and Massaman Curry level 4. We are normally "Indian Hot" if that gives you a reference, and we thought both were just right with levels and appreciated that they were flavor with spice that was cooked, not just flakes for heat. We both thought the curry was less interesting and well-developed than the pad-thai. The pad-thai is much more traditional, tasty, well tossed dished than the sometimes generic big pile of noodles you can get (you know - the pile where there is sauce on some, not on the rest, and you enjoy about 1/3 of that takeout container?) This is not the place to take a date if you are looking for a happening night out, but it's a great place to stop if you are craving thai and you are in the neighborhood! read more

Wow I was really impressed with this food! The sexy shrimp is simple but their sweet and sour sauce is so good. I got the drunken noodles with pork. The flavor is so good! I got medium and it was a littleee too spicy for me but I powered through because I couldn't get enough. And this was delivery! I can't wait to eat there in person. read more

Left is Duck noodle soup and right photo is Drunken spaghetti with chicken. Got spice level 3 on that and it was definitely hot. You know when your nose start running, it's the right level of spicy Delicious food and great service. The owner, Tom is super sweet and made sure we enjoyed our time there. We stopped by for the first time for dinner Saturday and it was empty. I wasn't worried since I know they do a brisk takeout business. This was confirmed by the numerous delivery drivers that came in while we were dining. The place is small and was being run by three people. We started with apps and had a sampler and some skewers. All were very good. The gyoza looked and tasted handmade. The sexy shrimp and spring rolls were light and fried to perfection. We had the Drunken Noodles and I had the Crispy Basil Duck. The Mrs. said the drunken noodles were better than our usual go-to Thai spot. My Crispy Basil Duck was excellent. A nice bite of texture while still maintaining a tenderness to the slices of duck with perfect heat and a little sweetness to balance it all out. If you are staying a a hotel downtown, working downtown, or a local looking for a very good Thai meal, give this place a try. read more

After friends recommended with gleaming reviews, I couldn't get service at noon on a Wednesday. Seated and got menus. That was it. No offer for drinks, had to approach counter to tell proprietor we were ready to place order. Another 10 minutes goes by and other people are placing orders, picking up orders etc. 30 minutes wasted and couldn't even get water. Ridiculous. I'll not go back. We didn't get any pics but here to say the hype for Thai Studio near Jackson Ward is real. Bae and I went for date night and we were floored! Started with the Studio app sampler which had dumplings, spring rolls, and something called sexy shrimp. All were yummy but the real stars of the show are the sauces here. We ordered the green curry with beef and basil stir fry with seafood. Everything was super fresh, including the seafood, and the sauces were slap yo mama good. Like we were just straight drinking them like soup. And they are giving 20% off through the end of the month to celebrate their opening. For my friends out there that love an adult beverage, they aren't currently serving alcoholic beverages. Oh and bonus points for having some amazing Halloween decorations!!! read more

Took a colleague for lunch and it was first time for both of us. Easy location, with lots of street parking avail. The owner was welcoming and super friendly. She had the Drunken Chicken Noodles and I had the Panang Chicken Curry with Steam rice. We both chose level 3 spicy, which was ok for a lunch, but I like 'hot and will get a level 4 next time. Ordered Pad Thai with chicken, Massaman curry with tofu, side of fried rice with egg, and spring rolls. I ate 1/3 on night one then savored the leftovers throughout the weekend. All delicious! You can taste the freshness of the ingredients which is needed in the winter. Nicely seasoned too -- especially the curry. Well-packaged for delivery -- no spills or wet bag. This is probably the 8th Thai restaurant in Richmond I've been to, and Thai Studio immediately shot into the top 3. We always get Red Curry as a baseline, and it was perfect. So was lookin for a good Thai place near by our hotel and found this gem on google.. they had great reviews so I said why not let's try it.. made Reservations through Google assistant. Got here and it was a bit busy but the staff was very apologetic and offered to take 50% off our bill. Wow is a great way to describe this restaurant. We were in town for a wedding and love Thai food so we did a quick search and came across Thai Studio and it's excellent ratings. From the moment we entered, we were impressed. The place was clean and soothing. The staff friendly and attentive. Then the food came and it was the best thai food we've had in a decade. You HAVE to try this place!! I ordered the sexy shrimp, basil stir fry level 2 with shrimp, side of fried rice, and Thai iced tea for pick up. The sexy shrimp are just that but the star of the show is the sweet and sour sauce for that app. The basil stir fry was amazing! The sauce was delicious and had just the right amount of heat, the shrimp were fresh and plump too! It came with a side of sticky white rice. My intention was to eat the stir fry over the fried rice, but I just couldn't bring myself to stop eating the fried rice by itself. Every spoonful was so flavorful and had just the right amount of egg! Last and certainly not least is the Thai iced tea, think mocha sweet tea with a dash of ....turmeric maybe? I have no idea what gives the drink the hint of red orange on the straw, but it makes my taste bunds happy it's the perfect compliment for the spice levels offered. read more
