Decided to order in some Thai food one night while in Greensboro. After looking around, I decided on Thai Square. I got the Thai Dumplings, steamed. They were pretty good, especially when you dip them in the soy sauce they send with it. I wish there had been a few more - it's just the right amount for one person, but for two, I think you'd want a few more included. I also got the Pad See Ew from them and it was also very good. This place is a hidden gem! If you like Thai food, you have to add Thai Square to your restaurant rotation. The food is always super fresh and the service is friendly and prompt. Favorite dishes for my family include the Thai fried rice, Bangkok chicken, and traditional Pad Thai. If you like Asian soups, their Kao Tom soup is fantastic with the right balance of flavor and fresh cilantro & ginger. I have not tried all of their curries yet but the yellow is really good. Spice level is typical of most Thai places so keep that in mind if you don't like heat. Overall, we have eaten here at least 10 times and look forward to coming back again soon! read more

Thai food cravings are so hard to shake. Looking around I decided to closed my eyes and point to Google maps X marks my finger. Anyway, I ended up at Thai Square. I was very excited about trying different Thai cuisine food. The restaurant has a nice soft decor touch love it. I started with the Thai steamed dumplings. They're very yummy has a slight savory dipping sauce and the delicious dumplings are meaty making it hard to resist. Hmm, 4.7 stars out of 5. Next, was the timing of my entrée that came out the same time my main dish appeared it completely drained the moment of excitement, as I watched my main dish steaming away while eating dumplings. My main dish was Kung Pao chicken. It was delicious and well seasoned, veggies are sliced perfectly the ratio is nice. No heat in the dish or was I asked if I had a preference that was disappointing. My curiosity is a dish that usually has cubed chicken not shredded, veggies, missing dried chili peppers, peanuts and recooked in a slurry sauce is floating in a soupy tomato kinda broth? Its basically chicken veggie soup Thai style. Still curious while eating it I did my own quick research. Maybe, it is a Thai version of Kung Pao. I couldn't find one pic that looked like mine or an article matching what I'm seeing. No big deal just saying!!! The Kung Pao was totally delicious even though it was not what I was expecting. Lol. 4.4 stars out 5. Also, I was never asked for a refill half way through the meal ugh. I still tipped more than 15% as usual. All in all 4.3 stars, I would definitely eat here again. First time dining at Thai Square and I'm a big fan. The ambiance is very nice and soothing. It has a casual /upscale feel to it. The service is very friendly and attentive. And the food, excellent. We started with crispy egg rolls then their chicken and rice soup. The soup comes with the lunch entree and had more flavor than similar offerings at other restaurants. I had the Kung Pao order Thai hot. It was excellent though I'd say the heat was more medium than hot. The portion size was generous. My companion had the Pad Thai and thought it was excellent as well (he was stationed in Thailand so he knows Thai food). The lunch menu is rather extensive and reasonably priced. Had my first meal at Thai Square and it was ok. The Eggplant and the Curry Fried Rice. The rice was mildly curry flavored with some green beans and (I ordered) tofu. It was alright. The Eggplant was large chunks cooked well(not mushy, slightly firm) and in a brown/soy brothy sauce. I loved the flavor. Overall, the food was quite oily - I mean beyond what I would consider normal. I have been here twice now for takeout and the food is amazing! The BONUS is they do not add MSG in their food which is something I have to routinely ask to leave out at other Asian places. I ordered the tofu panang. You get a good helping of rice but, I always need extra because I make one dinner meal into 2 dinner meals which is more than enough for 2 people. The tofu is fried and then braised in a coconut milk based curry with peas, onion, and zucchini. The interior is very very cute and very clean. I got prompt service right when I walked in even with all the people that were there dining in. The staff was friendly. If you're looking for authentic Thai food, this isn't the place. We got the fresh spring rolls, Bangkok chicken, pad kee mao, basil fried rice and the eggplant entree for takeout. (No pics sorry! Was too hungry to take any) 1) the fresh spring rolls had celery which was....interesting but the second whammy was the special sauce it came with (we ended up dipping the rolls in the bangkok chicken sauce - I'll tell you abt that later) 2) bangkok chicken - literally fried chicken tenders (pretty dry) in a sweet chili sauce (the one you get in the bottle) 3) pad kee mao - the most average out of our selections 4) basil friend rice - tasted like Chinese takeout friend rice, can't taste the basil but fine 5) eggplant entree - was just soy sauce based, it was fine, some people complained it was maybe a bit undercooked Overall kind of a disappointment in terms of a Thai experience. read more

My wife had pad thai beef and I had tofu mussamun curry which I asked for super spicy. Again, all very tasty - but I feel like they are catering to a very simple palette. I have had Thai food in the U.S. and a few other countries, but not Thailand (yet). I have eaten Thai food with Thai Nationals and Ex-pats so I do have a sense of what is good and "authentic." This probably wouldn't pass. For that reason, I give it a 3.5 on the food. All that said, is it a 3, 4, or 5 star? I think it is a solid 4 star - and a great new addition to the Greensboro and Triad dining scene. I do hope they make it and signs point to yes as the restaurant was 75% full on a Tuesday night. First. Once we got sat and asked what we wanted to drink we had to wait over 20 mins for a person to come back and take our order. Then we waited about 50 mins to get our food. We got our app and soup at the same time as the main. Second, while there I saw everyone running around like chickens without heads and not a single smile. During that 50 mins we waited for food we had to flag down two separate people to ask what was going on with our food. At one point one lady came and took my husbands empty drink glass to refill it. After 15 mins I flagged another person and asked for his drink to find its way home to us. This waitress was the most kind and attentive of the bunch. Everyone else couldn't be bothered to smile or acknowledge us the entire time. Finally, the food arrives and it is all just average at best. I ordered for my food to be like mild-medium spicy. It had ZERO spice and I had to ask for hot sauce to spice it up. I won't be returning back to this restaurant and would recommend no one else attend as well. The fresh shrimp roll was huge and all contents were clean and tast, though rice wrapper was a bit too wet to hold. We tried the basil veggie beef and sauce was good. Excellent food - poor table service. We would have given it 5 stars for the excellent food but the service was s.l.o.w. at 4pm on a Sunday with barely a quarter of the restaurant occupied. The guy serving us was not overwhelmed at all, but he seemed so, and kept forgetting his tables or what his customers requested. Water w/no lemon came with lemon; main dish (mango fish) arrived before the appetizers came so it went back to the kitchen. Appetizers took a while because someone forgot! Then our mango fish was brought out completely cold and without the noodles we had ordered. Being Fathers day, we just did not have the heart to complain. The waitress who brought over our dessert was quick and efficient...finally! Sadly even though the food was outstanding, they need to fine-tune their table service. We were waiting for something or the other the entire time and the restaurant was less than half full. If the waiters received some training, this place would be just amazing! read more
